Mad Bah, why must I be living on the other side of the globe when cool stuff like this happens?

The compass

I am kind of surprised I haven't heard much about the compass in the reasonable haven book. I still don't understand it probably, but I have a theory. The fact that the picture with dinosaurs and humans is an orthogonal group of four, like the four dinos on the compass, and the stegosaurus is still across from the triceratops makes me think we are supposed to put the two together. The only other thing on the dinosaur/people picture is the volcano, so I was thinking maybe that direction is important, which would be south east. Probably not related to the fax/SF drop overlays, but hey, it is a compass, so I thought I'd bring it up. I looked up volcanoes just in case, and they are all on the west coast.

If we take the design of the compass with north being towards the "top" (opposite where the piece hinges) then the Triceratops would be E - where the main needle is pointing. That would then put the volcano in the SW, more directly W.

I actually spent a lot of time with this concept myself, trying to find ways the 3-branched squiggly line from the fax/SF drop combo 'map' fit into the drawing based on the idea that the triceratops was east. Of course, in the end in came to naught, so I don't know if this will ever come into play unless it's far more obvious.

The main needle should be pointing North, though.

Well, the needle points to geomagnetic North, so you rotate the compass body until N on the compass body/dial aligns with wherever the needle is pointing. It's interesting that the presumptive North on the compass body (the stem end) depicts a pterodactyl, the only airborne dinosaur species in any of the dino-related illustrations.

Not sure if this has anything to do at all, but one of the songs on Jason Mraz's new album mentions the Gratitude Café...thought that was odd o_O

Lyrics are to Make It Mine if anyone wants to check it out.

If this has anything to do with Jason Mraz, I will take my own life.

XD well I sincerely doubt that it has anything to do with him- I just thought it was odd, you know, like learning a word and then hearing it fifty times that day. NEVER heard of this Café before now and then it pops up in a song o_O.

He DOES mention a "heavy rotation," which could have something to do with M-Rotors. He also says he'll "revel in energy that everyone's emitting"

However, I'll be on the suicide train as well if this turns out to be his doing.
