You know, if she keeps following TIMM on her blog, that could be the perfect page to throw up on digg/reddit.

If you didn't catch it, a PM on facebook said their boss would approve additional content if we could get TIMM on the front page of reddit, digg, etc.

Something along the lines of "Follow the adventures of the ARGing mom" or whatever. Digg and Reddit need a easy, concise headline, and nothing so far seemed to fit the bill. I'm thinking this could maybe do it.

must have missed this post on Facebook. linkage?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
anyway. if this is the case, why not just throw up our own blog and point digg, reddit, etc. there? would seem appropriate to have more control of the blog content and frequency of posts imho. i would volunteer to do the initial and follow-up writing for this blog. (am somewhat of an accomplished writer *said modestly*). i could get something up as soon as today if others are in agreement.

thoughts?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I think that you should go ahead and make it. I'd be happy to get a legion of folks to spam it up on Digg.

Here's the thread discussing it, but the actual Facebook message is gone. I really like the idea of you putting something together, EnsO. Go for it!

Ok guys, i set up a blog we can use for the purposes of furthering our internet influence and fame. if the PMs want to see some more traffic through digg, reddit, etc. let's let them have it!

i have just now gotten the blog going. i have yet to make a post of my thoughts/ impressions, etc. will do so the first chance i get. i posted the video (embedded) and some pictures in a coupla galleries to start. get some interest going and i'll make some post entries in the next day or so.

of course anyone is free to post as they see fit. let 'er rip!

have a look and let me know what you think/ suggestions, etc. might be good to go ahead and post some replies now to get things started/ traffic moving to the site. posts such as "what the hell?" or whatever you want would be good for starters i would think.

here's the link:

http://mymilwaukee.livejournal.com/

let me know if everything looks right/ is working, etc.

once we get this thing rolling, we can start a new thread and get more attention for it if you guys want.

have a Merry Christmas everyone!

peace...

It looks good, but - Livejournal. Isn't that a bit of a Walled Garden? I mean, please, please do not take this wrong - I only think that a resource like this should be as open as possible. I would highly recommend Wordpress.com or Vox. Something that has an open sharing/commenting system. LiveJournal is hardly that.
LJ requires you to have either an LJ account or OpenID (which is relatively new) in order to comment and get involved. We need this as open as we can get it for maximum traffic, SEO, and ranking. I know many technology-minded people (especially on sharing sites like Digg and Reddit) who would never click a LiveJournal link, just becaue of the reputation that it has built up. It would be like hosting a TIMM site on Xanga.

You can probably create as many blogs/ resources as you want. I think that a lot of people use live journal. But I realize that not everyone (including me) does. So why not create as many blog sites as you want? If people don't use them, then the sites will just die away, like any other blog. You can always cross-post or cross-link stuff so you don't have to repeat it word for word. Just an idea. Smile

I hope your Christmas is unreasonably Merry.

i agree but the idea was to get enough traffic that the blog gets noticed by digg, reddit, etc. i originally looked at wordpress this morning but shied away because it seemed to limit users to 35. i see now that that is the limit for a private instead of public blog.

as i read the terms and settings for livejournal, it appears that anyone can comment and i have the blog set that way. however, if some people out there have a real problem with livejournal, i don't have a problem switching hosts. i just didn't want to spend any money on this little venture.

if wordpress is more widely accepted then maybe we should go that way. it's funny, but this was actually the first site i looked at this morning!

haha...That's usually the case with me. I end up signing up with 3-4 different resources to do one thing, figuring out what works, and moving to that one. Actually, if you want to keep working on that one, I can also start up another one. I'll link to yours and even do some crossposting. Are we trying to do this in-game? Or purely drive traffic to the TIMM game using OOG methods?

I just need to know from what perspective to write from.

well, the idea was to produce the largest amount of traffic. i ended up posting in kind of a cryptic tone for this first post. after all, this is the way we all started out with this little adventure, right? Wink i think i'll end up moving more towards RL type posts but who knows? let's see howw the comments go and that will dictate style i think. making it part of the game might be fun as well. who knows, might even get a visit from Chuck Jagoda, Mars or Russo, haha!

thanks much for the help!

peace...

Hi all.

Just a few notes on the blog:

It might be a good idea to link to these forums - when people see what this is, it might be fitting to direct them to where most of the discussion is going on. Also, a link to the wiki might not be a bad idea.

I don't know about digg, but i am an avid redditor, and to get something on the front page, we could either try the WTF-angle, and lure them into it by describing the weirdness of the game, or by asking for help, simply stating that we need a front page to get the game moving.

Anyway, if i get the time to do it, i might contribute to the blog, but as english isn't my first language, it takes some time to write stuff out.

TIMM received some attention from Reddit in the beginning:

Don't know if it ever reached the front page, though.

Yes, it actually did. That's how I came across it. It was on the front page for a whole 24 hours, but it didn't make it up to #1.
