Very nice! That was one I had not found to check. Checking it with stegdetect after the fact came up negative as well, interestingly enough, even though jpseek gets the info out of it.

Actually, we found that one on the forums, it is

I'm really sorry for my late message, but I usually don't use my hotmail-account for emails. So it was a surprise to me, when there was an email waiting for me for some days now...

Attached to the email was the following image: http://drop.io/argreporter/asset/2

Squoo, transcript:

This is an example of what we can do at Grand Central. We can record our own message, or some sort of greeting of some sort, and people would have to leave a message in response to it. then we could response, we can call them, or leave an email address, Or we can have a clue embedded in this message itself. But...there are many possibilities. Thank you.

This is slightly off, I'll call again later to change the grammar, since that is essential to solving this.

ETA - bah, the message was changed from default. Red and I will try to transcript it.

Transcript 2 - to be updated.

Welcome, wanderer(wonderer?), I know not of whence you came, but know that whether or not you are aware of it, YOU are CHOSEN...my name is benjamin (bates?) and I'd like to help you find the answers. *mumble*

I know it's not really the helpful part.

New message on the Grand Central machine....very bad quality. All I could make out was "YOU are CHOSEN."

EDIT-- tried again. This time, I heard "Whether you know it or not, YOU are CHOSEN....I'd like to help you find *mumble*.....*mumblemumble*.org".

I gave the number a call on my cell phone and put a mic up to the speaker to record the message. The audio quality of the recording leaves a lot to be desired, but it's the best I could do! I'll edit this post in a minute to attach the file.

So, after listening to it a few times, I've written down what I can make out. The stuff that's written normally is what I'm 90% sure about, phrases/words in parenthesis are parts that I could sort of make out, and the blanks are sections that I have absolutely no clue on.

Quote:
Welcome wanderer. I know not from whence you came, but know that even if you are not aware of it, you are chosen. My name is Benjamin (Lays? Nights?), and I would like to help you find the answers you seek. _____ find comfort, living, loving, and laughing in the digital realm. And you are never growing older _____ . Others in real life can make you feel guilty about this, but surely (they? you?) see the hypocrisy in that. What is real about the facade you must endure (when they see you?) _____ . The society for digital (reincarnation? courage? ...ree-in-cars?) welcomes (you? hero? you home?) _____ . I'd like you to come now (to apply for sacrifice?) _____ dot org. _____ .

What's frustrating about the message is the fact that the part that seems like it could be the most important (the *mumblemumblemumble*.org), is the most difficult to understand... Confused

Well craaaaaap. I've been working out of the GamerDNA forums, and I thought nobody had recorded and transcribed the message. So I just did. And, while googling "society for digital" benjamin trying to find out the rest of that phrase, I find this thread.

Well anyway, here's my transcript if it helps at all. I knew I should've checked unfiction...

__________ = parts that I simply can't make out.
[Words in brackets] = words that I think I have correct, but I'm not positive.

Ok so i gave in being stubborn about my Mac, and booted into my windows image.

The Image we had at the top of the following post:
http://www.gamerdna.com/GuildThread.php?t=164728&page=1

The barrens one, I ran it through my app and I used the password "snort" as this was the name of a unique mob in the area.

It gave me this result:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
(XXX)XX1-7XXX

So time to find out what the unique mob in Skettis is, to see if it helps with the other file.

Just out of curiosity, what program was used to get the phone number out of the jpgs?

On an unrelated note, we should really decide which forums we're going to work out of and spread the word. Heh, it's frustrating to see the same conclusions reached separately.

__________ = parts that I simply can't make out.
[Words in brackets] = words that I might have correct, but am not sure.
Words in bold = newly discovered parts that I'm fairly certain about.

I've been listening to this thing on loop for a long time now. It's definitely the "Society for Digital Reincarnation." I picked up on some other things too, which I'm 95% sure are right. They are in bold. I also combined my transcript with Blond's...James Blond's. Wink

As for the website, it sounds like "seeyoulaindingnow.org" I know that makes no sense...but I've been wracking my brains for words that sound like that, and can't find anything. I thought of "xenulandingnow.org," "zu(as in zee you)landingnow.org," "culandingnow.org"...all to no avail.

EDIT: Just tried "seehumanitynow.org" and got nothing, and "savehumanitynow.org" and got a site under construction...but I really doubt it's our site. Wish I had access to that sweet audio enhancing stuff on CSI...

The combined transcript looks good to me, Keric! Very Happy

I've been playing around with the very last part of the message, but I still can't understand it. I've used Audacity to clip out the last part of the .mp3 I uploaded earlier... In the clip I'm about to upload, I've removed the background noise, slowed down the audio, and increased the pitch a bit to try to make it easier to make out. After listening to it on a loop for a few minutes, it sounds to me like Mr. Benjamin is saying, "seeyourenemynow.org", but that url doesn't work either...

Out of pure desperation, I've left a message with my cell phone number. I also told him that he could call me at any time, and for any reason. I hope I won't regret that... Shocked (lol)

Tried hearing it through Skype and couldn't hear it all that well either. Gonna see if I can run it through Sound Forge and clean it up.

Just for kicks and giggles, I had Adobe's English speech recognition doodad try to transcribe the message, and this is what I got:

Quote:
[Speaker 2] I don't but what you can but I won't our job I didn't know she joked O'Brien All right for now so I know four the trial the problem the others but the good thing to do there you go the problem there have been

[Speaker 3] I will four don't know

I don't know if that says more about Adobe, or the audio quality of the message. Laughing
