[TRAILHEAD?] Muse Xmas present

Hi Guys,

I am really rushed for time on a really old and slow computer, but I just received a merry christmas email from the mailing list of the UK band Muse, with an attachment called christmaspresent.zip or something like that. It contains a video of them performing DeadStar at V2008. Nothing unusual there but also in the zip was a JPEG, the filename of which is morse code for the word "clue". I've attached the picture, but not the video because it is over 38mb. I'm away until the new year so won't be able to check this out properly - sorry guys. If someone wants to give me their email addy here I'll forward the zip file to them. Muse are a very "with it" band so this might be some sort of trailhead for some CF.

Neil

You can get the zip here:

Some discussion here:

And apparently leads to this:

To summarize: The image uploaded here has the name -.-. .-.. ..- ..jpg.
Now, -.-. .-.. ..- . translates into CLUE on morse code. Now, the image depicts a Helium-3 Molecule. This leads us to http://www.he-3.mu/
Where we can see this:

Now, replace the symbols with random letters, take them to a cryptogram solver and we get this:
Quote:
happy christmas from muse
to get a free screensaver go to:
http://muse.mu/christmasscreensaver

And... That's all.

it's not dangerous if it's from a popular British band, or they'd get sued and you'd hear about in on CNN.

I like this band and i was relatively interested, so I downloaded it (the mac version) and all it says is "This screen saver has expired." Is it supposed to say that, or did a screen saver actually expire?

I downloaded the windows version. The screensaver starts with someone running through the woods and looking at a glass house that the band is playing in. It's all black and white except for one of the members is wearing a red santa hat.
