I'm pretty sure this is in here somewhere as well. What you really need to do first is read the previous 120 pages. That should only take about what one day? A few hours if you can speed read and have a nice quick internet connection. Wink

Lucian--but if you read my posts, you should be able to figure that one out without problem. Welcome aboard.

There is no need for a 1 to indicate Book 1, but we need another # if it's not Book 1. The card (417) is not from B1, it's B2- and those = to or higher, I'm guessing, will be indicated as such.

Seriously! Read the clue-finder guide! It says that the number on the far-top-left is what card pack it's from! Exclamation

That doesn't mean that Scholastic can't use it for anything else or that they can't make a mistake. We're talking about promo cards here. There's just not going to be the same kind of checks and balances there will be with items that make Scholastic money.

Yes, you are right- that's what the clue finder guide says. But the 2 on card 417 can't possibly mean it's from Card Pack 2 for a number of reasons. The next card pack for Bks 4,5&6 won't be released until June. The 400 cards are not found in card packs. So the 2 on 417 is another error or it could have some other meaning, but it's definitely not from Card Pack 2. Let's wait & see what shows up on 418. Maybe that will help.

Lab Rat

Played Lab Rat lately? You'd better be happy with your score because you won't be able to improve on it. They changed the scoring for some reason, and like I'm only getting about 20% of my previous score/level. Anybody else notice this?

lowering of scores

This may just be a way to stop the cheats from getting such high scores. By lowering the amount available, it will make it easier to spot the cheats, and remember, this game is for kids. It is kind of daunting to see a score like Flgator's. I can't beat that kind of thing, so by lowering the points system, it seems more doable for the kids.

My 12 year old son loves the books, cards, and website. It's good to see a book and website that gets kids using their reasoning, logic, and problem-solving skills. Better than him sitting there wasting brain cells on mindless fodder. I tried lab rat and decoder and those are HARD games, so to see him sitting currently in second place without assistance, cheating, or marathon gaming sessions makes me one proud papa. If adults want to play 39 clues i think they should split it into 16 and over and 16 and under categories. That way us dads won't look so bad when our kids whip our scores. Just my 2 cents.

Laughing I love the idea of two zones. One for the kids and one for the old farts. But I would add that the old farts page need a password to see the scores. That way we can keep our shame hidden from our kids Laughing

My daughter doesn't play the online games too often. She has other pages she likes to play on more...but, what thrills me is that she is enjoying "Learning" more stuff by picking up on the tidbits given in the books.

Episode 1 Games

This is not Sour Grapes because my kids (7&Cool aren't doing so well. But I must comment on how demoralizing on how Ep. 1 has been for them. On the + side they loved Dog Fight & Stunt Pilot. Decoder was to much for them; it was the only game I played. Note: On these 3 games Max Score is <20> 68,000, a score more than 3X more valuable. Why? My kids love this game. It's a real challenge for them, mixing colors & reacting, but they continually improved-that is until today. I think they made it just over 60,000 previous, but today they played & got a high score of 12,000 something. Dad, I don't want to play anymore!
Just some suggestions: Split the scores into 2 groups- Kids eligible & those that are not. Make all game Max scores even. Kick out scores not possible automatically before they show up to us.
As a parent, I'm extremely disappointed because my kids don't believe they have a chance of winning. I don't think this is what Scholastic had in mind- kids quitting knowing they don't have a chance of winning.

Exactly what I said in the post above. It has to be achievable. 161,000+ in not achievable for my 7 year old. She plays the lab rat every once in a while, but her thoughts were exactly the same as your kids. She says she will never do good at it so she doesn't really want to play.

I also want to see the combining cards section up. I've been waiting for this, and so has my little one. She has some ideas that she has shuffled around with her physical cards, and it would be nice to see if she is right. As it stands, they can only be ideas.

In this aspect I am a bit disappointed. Scholastic started tauting this last December. With the scoring and the combining, you would think they had enough time to make sure it worked before making it live.

We also attempted the card game, and it is so convoluted that we just cannot work it out. That's no fun for her either. But as I've stated previously, the "searching" for information is great fun for her because she gets to explore teh web. Something she is not normally allowed to do (even with parent blockers, some things still get through)

To make matters worse, I've played lab rat a few times, and get to 12,000+ at level 9. Then I get an error screen that quickly flashes and then says my game is up. I can see why it is not fun anymore!

I was wondering.... When the 1st episode was released, we had Mission 0 and Mission 1 to play. Do you think that when Episode 2 is released, we will have 2 missions to play or just one mission?

I would be happy with one mission. Laughing It would give me a bit more to do besides sit around and waste time looking for those missing 400 codes Wink

Seriously though, I do hope they will post a new mission but I don't expect to see one for at least a week. It's a holiday remember.
