This is where other brainstorming can begin, and some of the the other 'W's applied. The WHAT could be a meetup, not a drop that would lead people scurrying around suspiciously. Which means we'd have to figure out WHO to meet. The WHERE may not be directly ON the lawn, but in the vicinity. The WHEN could be the following day, not at midnight. Etc, etc.

I'd like to address WHO. Let's think about our sources:

1. The fax came from the phone number that said, "Leave a fax number." That same number has now become Michael Lewis' number. When asked about this, either Russo or Lewis said that the number had been appropriated by rebels and now Lewis had gotten his phone back. So the fax came from rebels.

2. The SF drop came directly from Chuck Jagoda's tweets. Jagoda seems like a bit of a wild card, not working for Blackstar, and in one of his tweets he says:

Quote:
Attacked by some rebels (the Snake Charmers) tonight. They tried to take a can of peaches I was appreciating at the time. I let them live

So Jagoda doesn't feel particularly threatened by rebels, and there is more than one faction among the rebels. Jagoda could be colluding with the same rebel faction that sent the fax.

OR

If we take his story as literally having happened, then the SF drop comes from a vision induced by Voltaire. So the SF drop comes from Voltaire.

3. The table on page 26 should be an official publication of the MTC, but the proof we were given was not vetted by Blackstar. We know that Russo got in trouble for the tables, and that he opened up whenever he was told the phrase, "Surely you know what I'm referring to..." which was part of the solution to the table on page 27.

So there's strong evidence that Russo is the one that both planted the information in the unapproved book, and wanted us to find it. Why? Is he in league with the rebels? With Voltaire? Unknown.

So if the event in Central Park at midnight on Jan. 1 is a meet up, then the two best candidates are Voltaire or Some Rebel Faction.

We have a description of Voltaire:

Quote:
The voice belonged to a man of considerable height, wearing a deep red suit. His face was handsome, uncanny, amused. Finally: Voltaire.

The rebels don't even have a name, besides Mike Russo.

So WHY? Why NY when all the characters are in the Milwaukee area? Well, the whole point is to return to Milwaukee, so any faction that doesn't want us to do that would have to communicate with us outside of Milwaukee.

Which leads to the reason for a meet up, whether it's Voltaire or Rebels, would be to give us the other side of the story. To let us know what's really going on in Milwaukee.

Or maybe it just to give us another inscrutable clue that will lead us somewhere else. Laughing

That's some of the best thinking I've read around here yet.

A nice change of pace and a good line of thinking Deanodon. Here are a few points and counterpoints.

Definitely a rebel fax, confirmed by two sources. I spoke to Russo when it first showed up, and he explained to me that it's the rebels who use faxes and other 'older technology' to communicate, because current methods are all monitored. And it was a phone call I had with Michael Lewis in which Lewis himself told me the rebels had taken his phone, but that he had recently reacquired it. Though he gave no explanation how. Could be it never left his hands.

This is what I've been thinking. Jagoda came across as a confused and innocent bystander in the vision that Voltaire is responsible for.

Don't forget that it was Lewis who released M:ARH before it was approved by Blackstar, without the OK of anyone else involved. Russo and others told him to take it down immediately. Then Lewis blamed Russo, and Russo told us not to trust Lewis.

In all my interactions with the characters, Russo comes across as being the office whipping boy. Which could mean: a. he's got a chip on his shoulder and a reason to join the rebels, or b. he's being set up by Lewis to take the fall.

This is a situation common to many ARGs. The PMs are often just limited by their locations.

Final thought- It's quite possible Voltaire is in cahoots with the rebels. What little we know about him is that he was the hero of the 300 troubles. So, if he is largely responsible for helping save the world from the misguided works of Blackstar, I wouldn't be surprised if he was supportive of groups who opposed them.

It would seem, PostLarval, that you were correct, sir, and the PMs spent the holiday with their families instead of entertaining us.

So I put it out there, with this supposed meetup/event/something in Central Park a little over 24 hours away, who's going?

I'm 4 hours away, and I have a party to go to. I'll enable whoever says they're going to show up on my cell phone via twitter, but that will probably be the extent of my involvement until Thursday.

Volunteers?

We don't even know that it's supposed to be a meet up in Central Park though, do we?

So, I don't see the boards on fire, so I'm assuming nothing TIMM related happened at the park on NYE?

not that any of us know of. HOWEVER, the countdown to midnight was for the final piece of the Map puzzle, so "it" (whatever that may be) probably wasn't happening at the park at that time.

Looks like at midnight UTC they updated an old URL to give us a new layer to the map, which basically just confirmed that we're looking at central park. It also pretty clearly places the X over the courts near the great lawn, presumably where Terry Nanny stole the basketball in the original video.

I really wouldn't go so far as to say that this was the "final" piece of the map puzzle. There is still a lot of empty space in that map, and there will most likely be more pieces to come.
