Thanks to DavyCrockett of the IGN boards for the translation (the beginning of the video):

We have found something. This...
(Wir haben etwas gefunden. Dieses...)

Has the master explaned it to you?
(Hat der Meister es dir erklärt ?)

No, what shall I know ?
(Nein, soll ich was wissen ?)

Put the camera away !
(Kamera weg !)

Give it to me. Do it now !
(Gib es mir. Tu es jetzt !)

Onto the other contents of the site:

When I opened the MP3 (the new music on the Commander's site) in itunes, I got the cover art as 5 horizontal bars. From top to bottom, the colors are Yellow, Orange, Aqua, Pink, and a dark blue (indigo or azure?). Do those mean anything to anyone?

00DESCENT11 is the name of the MP3. I'm not sure what to make of it except that it may be about a ship's decscent onto a planet, or perhaps the commander is using hexadecimals.

These make met think that the game is an eight bit space game, or maybe 3D with 2D elements. Is there another meaning to J BN POMZ B NBO?

If there's stuff in the vid that hasn't been discovered, maybe we need a frame-by-frame gallery. Is there a way to convert a vid like that without screencapping every single thing?

Hey im new, just joined out of interest and all that. I googled Alex Neuse's (commandervideo) name and the top result was basically a little bit of info about the guy, favourite books and stuff. While quickly scanning the page i saw this paragraph

Words: "We're crunching, so since I don't have a whole lot of time, I'm mostly doing research online into the paranormal. Mostly I don't read fiction, I read nonfiction most of the time. It goes along with my tastes, I suppose. I've been reading up a lot online about cryptozoology and UFOs, and super nature in general."

Is this where other people saw that thing about cryptozoology?

I also sent him a message via his facebook, we shall see what comes of it.

Also on the offical commander website they seem to have just posted this picture... I wonder if you lay them together, you know. all these little dots then they can make something because pictures like this are cropping up all over the shop.

I feel as if I should intervene here. I was thinking about this whole situation today over breakfast, and I could only think back to the summer of 2007. During these days I was participating in the ARG for Halo 3 called Iris. This particular night a small group of us players were all huddled together in an AIM chatroom discussing leads, theories and other general speculation. It was at this time that it was discovered that the Xbox Live Gamertag for "Adjutant Reflex" (a character from the ARG) had been registered.

We immediately began sending it messages, and we soon were getting responses. At one point, one of these messages was a phone number. We didn't know at the time, but this gamertag was being run by a fan. What of the phone number you ask? http://www.joystiq.com/2007/06/20/halo-arg-sends-300-calls-to-unwitting-college-student/

I know the circumstances are different here and all, but I think we should probably let up on contacting Mr. Neuse. It's not really benefiting the "Only a Man" experience, outside of personal interest. It's like at a puppet show when the first kid peeks around the stage to see who's doing the voices. At first it might not annoy the puppeteer, but when every kid begins lining up to see the commotion, we may have a problem.

This is in no way meant to discourage/discredit new players from enjoying the experience, but I just don't want this to lead to anything crazy. It's one thing to contact in-game characters via email, but I think we should probably just pretend we never saw the connection between the developer and the web experience, at least until it wraps up.

That's exactly how I feel about it, and I don't plan on messaging him anymore. It feels like cheating, and it could tick him off if everybody finds out who's behind this.

Welcome to Unforums! I'm very sorry, but I have to Trout you, since this image has been here since a long time ago.
Now, remembering all this, everything graphical in this ARG excepting the video shown on the supposed head of CV is square-like... definitively this game is going to be old-school. Or maybe a future clue? Who knows...
Also, I'm still keeping tabs on Chev... googling his name just throws this thread, his Vimeo profile and the usual, completely unrelated stuff...

So... I apologize if this is a stupid question, but has it been established that this is actually an ARG?

Having another look at the video, a few things caught my eye. There is one large symbol that appears that I'm guessing is original, followed by the Gaijin Games logo. Later there is a segment with what looks to be computer graphics in motion, so maybe part of a game (bottom right says NETHER?). The biggest thing that interests me however is the first set of characters that are 'typed' on the screen. Most of the character sets in the video are just various alphabets, but this one has several symbols that repeat, not to mention structure that looks like a message. Haven't had any luck so far though trying to treat it as a simple substitution.

Nope. It's likely just viral marketing.

Also, Mr. Toasty in regards to the Runes, I found this on another board:

Quote:
Those are Anglo Saxon runic characters... The text transliterates to:

F U Ž* F R C G W

N I J EO P X S T B

E M L Ŋ* Œ* D A Ę*

Y EA IA K KK CP ST

Ž* = "th" as in thy
Ŋ* = "ing" in singing
Œ* = open front vowel, not used in English anymore
Ę* = "a" in bat

It's complete gibberish and the symbolic meaning of the runes means nothing either. The people making this probably had no idea what they meant.

That relates to the shot attached to this post - merely the alphabet for Fužorc. Greek alphabet shows up as well as Hebrew(?) and several other languages I believe. I'm pretty sure the one posted earlier is different and not merely alphabet.

More of that PASS= coding stuff thats on his/her flikr has been popping up all over the net. basically everywhere that they happen to be reporting on this. They're definatly watching all this and releasing bits at a time. Is it possible for us to track the ip adress into something tangable if he posts on this forum?

Just to see if anyone else has the same thing, what's your general frequency? (Kind of hard to differentiate the characters without a high res version). I've been trying to solve it like the following:
Code:
abcdefg fhbchijgf ic kbelf mel
