[TRAILHEAD] Animax: Lamb
Possible ARG from Hong Kong

So I faked out my PS3 to think that I am located in Hong Kong. You see, Playstation 3 has an online store that you can obtain items through: games, demos, videos, movies, tv shows, etc.

The primary reason I have it think I am in Hong Kong is to find interesting videos and downloads in their Playstation Store that we do not get here in the United States.

Anyways I found this cryptic video on the Hong Kong site called LaMB_News_Cast. No real description what the video was though. I downloaded and there was a fake news cast from "Cerra News" explaining that police had devised some sort of way to handle the over population of the prison system by "laminating" the prisoners and then releasing them. These newly laminated prisoners called Lambs can be identified to concerned citizens by registering on the website http://animax-lamb.com/.

Visiting that site has produced another site: http://cab-cerra.com/

I just found this 20 minutes ago and came here to see if there was any news on this. I am planning on registering soon. There is also an online game of sorts I have not played.

I wish I knew how to pull the video off my PS3 and saving it somewhere for you guys to see. I will investigate that further as well.

Not sure if this is an ARG or just a timewaster but looks like it could be fun...

Hey guys, I'm back on the forums after taking a break due to the holiday crunch. Good to see you all again!

Anywho, this looks like a viral campaign for a game on gamersfirst.com

The Lamb game can be found at: www.gamersfirst.com/lamb for anyone interested.

EDIT: It could also be the start of a new anime series, considering that Animax is an anime production company. Wink

this is what happens when people blow "going green" way out of proportion Laughing

looks like a fun viral series though. i'll have to check it out.

the thing that eludes me, however, is that the viral is advertised as coming in 2009, when it -is- 2009 now - and the GamersFirst site already has two of the first installments of the game out. it's only january 5th where i am and it doesn't seem to make sense to me that they'd come out with two this soon - unless the company who made this is going by the chinese new year, but that wouldn't make sense either.

my guess is that the games are a sort of a teaser or prologue to something bigger that's coming out later in the year. could be wrong though.

EDIT: looks like i was right. i looked "Lamb" up on wikipedia and came up with this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LaMB

Quote:
LaMB is an upcoming animated film produced by Animax directed by Ryosuke Tei with the original script written by Carmelo S. J. Juinio, one of the finalists of the 2007 Animax awards Pan-Asia Animation competition (from Philippines), that will be broadcasted across several countries in 2009 in high definition. It is also the first and biggest Animax original production, featuring the French-Canadian band Simple Plan and the American band The Click Five who will be producing two different songs for the opening and ending themes of the movie.

also from wikipedia, i looked up animax as i wasn't sure how the film would be "broadcasted". turns out that animax is also a television network:

Quote:
Animax (アニマックス, Animakkusu?) is a Japanese anime satellite television network, dedicated to broadcasting anime programming.[1] Headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, Japan, its co-founders and shareholders include Sony Pictures Entertainment and the noted anime studios Sunrise[1][2], Toei Animation[3] [4], TMS Entertainment, and production company NAS.[5] [6]

guess that also explains why it showed up on the playstation network.
