Were I not TWO DAYS+ AWAY, I would.

If you left a cell phone in New York, would it not get stolen anyway? I'm losing interest fast, I really don't want to have to get into that whole Aladygma mess...

things stay put if their hidden right, but then that doesn't guarantee that the ones who are meant to find it can.

The main problem with this is that we have no one who can get to the location of the first clue. Had anyone been able to go to the first location in New York, I believe the rest would have flowed smoothly from there, regardless of what other less-than-popular game it might be connected to. The frustration, I think, stems from a fault that is ours, not the PM's. If someone made it to New York and couldnt get the drop, then I'd start griping, but it isn't fair to the PM's, in my opinion, to complain when we haven't done the work.

And if it was some remote unpopulated out of the way hole in the ground, I could understand the complaint of "well, we couldn't get there, so it is the PM's fault", but, again in my opinion, it is New York, New York, USA, and not the edges like some wharehouse in Queens, but right next to the Empire State Building. If we can't get someone there to find it, that's totally our own fault.

IDK, if I were running this I would not have released more info until the first drop was taken. Instead we split our minds trying to figure out 3-4 at one time.

I'm with both ya, we were trying to figure out a lot at one time and i'm sure some of it needs more info than we have that we'd get at the drops. Still, i'm sure the PM figured the drops would be picked up almost instantly, and wanted the mystery to keep us interested while we wait for the guys to get back with the drop stuff.

Its just too bad all my connections to NY are on the other side of the state.

So, I guess I'm making myself a liar because I said I wouldn't make another post unless it was going to be positive/constructive...but, I'm going to do it anyway seems some people are giving me a pass now as sentiment is starting to come around my way a bit. That doesn't mean I'm absolutely correct about my assumptions (especially considering that recent confusing email from Stander). With that being said...

JTony, I have to disagree about where the blame should be placed as to the execution of this ARG. I believe that a good PM would have taken the time to set up a couple of puzzles/codes in order to get to know the people following his/their game. It seems like this one is rather involved and takes a team of PM's rather than a single one considering the supposed drops in London and New York (Unless this guy just happens to fly back and forth all the time... which is possible. you never know). Maybe then he would've gathered if making these drops was feasible to move the game along.

If you leave it to the statistical possibility that some player who is following your game happens to live in NY and is capable of making it down to Empire State in a reasonable amount of time... I'd say you may have a better chance of winning the lotto. Okay, maybe that's a stretch since I'm sure there's a few people around unfiction who do live close enough, but really... 20 million in New York city, 300+million in US, 6 billion+ around the world. I'd say the percentage of people who live in NY is statistically small. Also, even if one lives in NY, not everybody's rich enough to live in downtown Manhatten or is able to ride the subway for an hour or 2 in order to get there. I mean, I got family who live around 148th who have never been to the Empire State building (seriously). They're uptown folk, they don't go downtown. But, I digress. I just don't think this one can be blamed on us, but rather a PM who didn't do his homework and got a little too ambitious right out of the gate.

As for the cell phone... I just don't know. I mean a cell phone left downtown NYC?! Honestly? I will be the first to turn around and apologize again if someone actually turns up this phone. I would also be extremely impressed that the PMs would've been able to stash a cell there without it getting swiped 5 minutes later (no matter how well it got hid).

So, I'm still going to watch this because of the outside chance that I could truly get amazed by these guys and get really pulled into this game. Like I said, the elements are interesting and this could be good... which is the only reason why I'm still hanging around.

Thanks for the apology Cog, but totally not necessary because I could've easily been totally wrong (and could still be). Just voicing my feelings (and multiple frustrations).

Be watching

Cleptomanx, I'm sitting at your table. I agree with everything you said. If a game has stalled like this one has, it's not a player issue.

If we even had a puzzle to work through while we waited, anything!

I think I agree with a little bit of everything. The one thing that has probably crossed my mind the most however - is that even the "puzzles" we've had so far, weren't even puzzles.

I mean, to be honest - the first email I got and saw the coordinates - I immediately dismissed them as coordinates because well, that would be too easy! Only after not having any luck with other ideas did I actually plug it into Google Earth.

As far as "normal" ARG's go - this one hasn't really asked anything of us - except for the drops we either can't get to, or can't find.

I dunno - I hate to be negative about it, because I'd like to think that a lot of preparation went into this by the PM's - and that they're as excited about running it as we were about playing it. Maybe right now, they're trying to figure out a way to adapt to the current dillema, to get the game moving again.

In all dead drop situations there should be a failsafe, just in case the drop is never recovered. That was the downfall of "The Sky Remains": by the game's design, every shard was necessary, and there wasn't anyone around to recover the shards (only two or three out of 20 or so were recovered).

The longer the PMs wait for the drop to be acquired, the smaller their audience becomes. So they have to be ready to spring in to action and provide an alternate means of game progression if the drop isn't acquired in a matter of days.

And, considering the people who received the messages in the first place, it seems obvious that they are keeping some sort of eye on these forums.

Speaking of TSR, they were supposed to switch to an "electronic method of recovery" but nothing came of that.

I gotta say I like the IDEA of the game. God machine? How can you not like it? But so far execution has left a lot to be desired. Why did I get a trailhead to Aladygma related stuff anyway? I've never even looked at those forums, let alone posted in them. I am a fairly reliable trailhead poster, but still...

Maybe we're still being jerked around?

The exact same thing happened when people began realizing about the first segments of Aladygma.

Srsly... It's bull.

Um I emailed Stander about the LDN drop and he completely ignored me. - I'm out if that is anything to do w/ Aladygma. I got way too involved and started saying things I regretted later on, last time.
