[QUESTION] Why are there no vegetables?
No vegetarian option, and other clues lead us to believe vegetation is not consumed.

Something I've been thinking about as of late.

It's becoming more and more clear that plant and vegetable life is not consumed in any way.

So far it appears that everything Chuck Jagoda has eaten does not contain vegetables.

Mars Madison was very weary of anything Blackstar, she meets with Lipps Leroux for lunch, suddenly she's getting a job there.

Then we have the "Nightlife". Let's break down the scene. The Margarita is made, but a lime is never put into it, it's only a garnish.

The vermouth in the video doesn't look like any vermouth I've ever seen, so it may be that it's synthetic.

The Male YP (young professional) looks on the ground and sees a discarded lime.

They order a second margarita. Again lime is a garnish and not in the drink so they do the streetcar shuffle.

Next we see Male YP finishing his margarita but wait...there's limes in the bottom. At the exact same time we start hearing the "60 cycle hum" like sound. We see what looks to be "worker" making another Margarita.

Then we see the man frantically reaching into the glass to get the limes out. This whole time the hum is increasing.

Finally we have the "He doesn't know does he?" the man stops dancing and is overcome by something, whether it's awareness or loss of awareness we don't know.

The YPs quickly leave the bar and it appears the male has been spurned by the female.

Now piece this together with the non existant "Vegetarian option", the power of the family tree in the second video, and the comment from Russo about the cthonic energy contained in family trees, and it's clear that vegetation has a power.

Considering Blackstar produced the video and is likely controlling what people are consuming, is it possible that the power contained in vegetation is something Blackstar does not want the people to have?

Maybe someone needs to ask if the Rebels eat at FeBrizzio's or eat salads. TN said that G.o.D.S.E.E.D. killed all vegetation. Is it possible that vegetation is the enemy of the G.o.D.S.E.E.D. and consuming vegetation can help protect you from it?

Just some random musings. I can't wait until we're able to figure this all out & have it fall into place.

In the Young Professionals discussion on Facebook, when someone says something that another perceives as unreasonable, they say, "Looks like someone didn't get their dose of Flax Seed O_o"

in the video terry nanny says that blackstar was concentrating so much on project Go.D.S.E.E.D. that they didn't notice nature withering around them. Maybe there simply are not vegetables around to eat (unless they are grown underground? potatoes for example).

What about the bun around the HamBurger?

Flax seed oil is also known as Linseed Oil (it doesn't come from Fennel) it's used as a nutritional supplement in small doses.

There ARE edible plants (lettuce on hamBURger, ketchup, french fries, potato soup, can of peaches, lemons and limes, flaxseed etc) but my guess is that due to whatever catastrophe occurred (radiation, climate change, invasive plant species, disease, etc) plant life is minimal. Seeds are probably expensive and would have to be grown indoors, possibly hydroponically. So only rich folks, like Mr. Jagoda, could afford them. I'm guessing animals are kept indoors as well (to protect from radiation and Go.D.S.E.E.D. fragments) or their meat may be vat grown (a technology we don't yet have but are working on now).

I think that the 60hz hum is a sense of dread.

Notice how the hum starts, then the guy gets a blank look and stops dancing, and the woman looks back at him. He then lets go. They head out of the club.

The guy heads back in the direction of Blackstar (to check on his machinery?), and the woman ostensibly heads home.

Ugh! I wouldn't eat that crap if my life depended on it. My dad and I have to coat our redwood fences with hot linseed oil to keep them from degrading once every few years, and that stuff is FOUL.

I would think that, but watching it closely, it starts right when he drinks from the limes and then frantically is reaching for them.

Also, You hear a similar hum in the second video though before the worker is met by basketball guy and the family tree.

Unless it's like... fake tomato juice. Neutral

I eat Flaxseed all the time. It' not bad at all. Nice source of protein and essential oils, fats and amino acids.

I assume they have a limited quantity of tomatoes from indoor gardens but for things like tomato juice and ketchup they could easily be getting it from cans. Canned goods last a looooooong time. Fresh produce on the other hand seems scant.

Linseed oil

Interesting fact: linseed oil spontaneously combusts.

Here's a more authoritative source than wikipedia (although wikipedia and every woodworking website seems to say the same thing, too):

http://www.tcforensic.com.au/docs/uts/essay6.pdf

I know fennel and flax aren't the same plant (or even closely related), but there was this that was mentioned in the original trailhead that got me thinking: On 21 November, someone put a few sentences on the Fennel page in wikipedia

"Featured prominently as the "Flax Seed" in the Japan Anime 'Blackstar no Blackstar'"

and it was edited out 2 days later.

here's the link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fennel&diff=253212967&oldid=252926862

anyway, as you can see in the following quote, this "fire" plant theme is present.

I googled "fennel myth" to see if fennel has any particular symbolic meaning.

I found this: http://www.theoi.com/Flora1.html

Quote:

Fennel
Fire of Prometheus. The Titan Prometheus stole fire from heaven for man, hiding the flame inside a fennel stalk. As punishment for the crime Zeus had him chained to a mountain and set an eagle to peck out his liver.

Chuck seems to have confirmed the presence of vegetables in his most recent Twitters, though these could still pretty easily be canned, and does not necessarily indicate there being fresh veggies.

vegetarian

I'm a vegetarian, so when I first emailed from the trailhead to info @ timm.com, I commented on there being a lack of vegetarian options.

I actually just discovered the game today (and am a brand n00bian to ARGs), so hopefully I'm not too late getting in.....
