googling some of the text leads to [url]lamb.com[/b], which at first glance appears to be OOG. However, using 'lamb' as the decrypt key for the encoded email text yields:

8°42\'55.51\"E

The ancestral home of the Lamb.

I emailed shrecknet back letting him know my AIM handle and that I can't get into an AOL chatroom (or at least I don't know how Embarassed ), and telling him what I got from post k. I didn't reveal a location though, just asked how we know we can trust him.

Nice! I was playing around with the garbage characters, but there was clearly nothing there.

So - I re-purchased the PC game of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, 1) to see if it would help jog the memory about the background/provide clues - and 2) cuz it sounded like fun.. Very Happy

Anyway - couple of things, and if they're repeats my apologies - but some things make more sense now.

1) Beckett - something of a scholar vampire, interested in figuring out why vampires came about. Doesn't necessarily believe in the Caine story/theory. Appears to be unaffiliated with any group in particular.
2) Shrecknet - A hidden network on the internet created by the Nosferatu (the really ugly vampires). Nosferatu are great gatherers of information, and offer it for a price - but typically don't get involved in the 'politics' of the other clans.
3) Diabliere(?) - the practice of a young(er) vampire draining an older vampire completely of all blood/life - which then gives the younger vampire all of the olders powers. This practice is very frowned upon by most of the clans except for the Sabbat who seem hell bent on world domination any way possible - even at the sacrifice of the Masquerade.
4) The Society of Leopold, aka hunters (Paladin Rathe?). These are the "few" humans than know of the existence of vampires for sure. They're a dedicated bunch determined to wipe out the Kindred. Strangely - some of them have 'powers' of their own, not to be underestimated by the Kindred.
5) Ghoul - a ghoul is a human who has partaken of vampire blood - without being bitten. They typically are stronger, quicker, etc - but can still run about in the daylight, and are fiercely loyal to their vampire.

So most likely the emails petunia has been getting are from the Nosferatu - I would be wary of what they're offering.
Seeing that Jonathan Swift is being called the Harbinger by the paladin - I'm guessing that they have a prophecy that says the vampires are gonna wipe out the humans. Which is also in line with what the Sabbat are trying to accomplish. Almost all other clans are dedicated to keeping it as it is - to some degree or another - with Kindred and Kine living together (whether the Kine are aware of it or not).

All that being said - I would guess everyone's decisions/actions will be based on their 'political view' - and we might not all agree, heh. Do you support the Society? The Sabbat? The Camarilla - or just prefer to remain ignorant Twisted Evil.

Ok - one last thing. With the exception of the Sabbat - nearly every other vampire will go to great lengths to protect the Masquerade. Example? In the game I'm playing - a human, a writer - comes up with a story that is very close to "actual" vampire reality. He's killed to protect it.
Heh - so if you decide to help - just be sure to only do it via AIM, don't agree to meet a vampire face to face with all you know.. Laughing

===EDIT===
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
lamb.com is a trip .. still working my way through it - but be sure to check out his animation video..freaky..
And I haven't seen it mentioned yet - but the coordinates point to Heidelburg Castle in Germany

Sorry I didn't post this earlier, but shrecknet wants to chat. He also said he'll try to contact us through the blog, email not being 'safe', but that was after 'delta' was posted and there haven't been any updates since.

I'm on AIM now, but he's not. I'll be on later tonight though.

Been poking around with Heidelberg Castle, and not finding a whole lot.

I could only find one reference to "lamb" - and that was Markus zum Lamb, some guy that mentioned the castle in a document eons ago. Following him frankly got confusing, most results return paintings of some person or another from the "Thesaurus Pictuarum" - which near as I can decipher are literally "treasury/strong room pictures".

I did come across this .. it was kind of interesting, the Vampire Ball at Heidelberg - but it's at the convention center, not the castle. It's really the only thing vampire related I could find.

Petunia and I talked a bit and we believe that lamb.com is OOG - but not positive. I tried to check WHOIS - but can't get to it from work (can someone else check it? looking to see when it was registered).

Also been unable to find anything related to the "ancestral home of the Lamb". I'm guessing there is probably something in VTM canon that says otherwise - but I couldn't' find it.

I'm really getting a kick out of this - I can't seem to focus on anything else.. Twisted Evil

According to a translated-from-German wikipedia page:

Quote:
Marcus Lamb at (* March 3, 1544 in Speyer; † February 16, 1606 in Heidelberg) was a German lawyer and Kurpfälzer Churches. His 33-volume illustrated anthology Pictuarum thesaurus ( "Images Treasure") portrays the life of the former electoral residence city of Heidelberg. This chronicle is an important source for the transition period in the late 16th Century, especially for the religious conflicts between the Lutherans and Calvinists.

And from another one, it seems that the picture (which is now up on the blog) shows Johann Sylvanus, who was executed on December 23, 1572 in the Heidelberg marketplace for heresy (being against the belief in the Trinity).

The comment left by who? suggests another role for a lamb. Sacrifice? Johann (another form of John) was sacrificed for his religious beliefs. Is the plan of one of the kindred factions to sacrifice Jon for religious reasons? This fits in nicely with the cult of Gehenna idea.

According to http://germany-travel.suite101.com/article.cfm/schloss_heidelberg_castle_germany:
Quote:
Documentary evidence of the existence of a fortress (Burg) on a hill in the Neckar Valley above Heidelberg goes back to 1225. During the same period, a second fortress was built on the Molkenkur hill slightly higher than the main castle but this one was destroyed in 1537 by lightning and never rebuilt.

* Heidelberg Castle long served as a primary residence of the Wittelsbach rulers of the Electoral Palatinate (Kurpfalz). The family ruled the Palatinate from 1214 up to the Napoleonic era.

Do you think that all the line breaks have to be removed before decrypting, as in the first email?

I wouldn't think so. It's just a matter of finding the right word.

I wonder though, why they show the picture of the guy to be executed (ironically I linked that same picture before they posted) but they claim it to be for 1537 - yet the picture clearly states 1572.

I think we might be missing a key piece of vampire history - as it clearly states the guy is losing his head for something that occurred during 1537.

Unless - 1537 is a code for something else - couple of results of AECG - but nothing solid yet..

[23:23] petuniashaw: sorry i'm here
[23:23] shrecknet: ask me questions and I'll give you answers the best I can
[23:24] shrecknet: but be sure to document everything
[23:24] petuniashaw: who wants to kill jon, and why?
[23:24] shrecknet: Twenty-five. Next question
[23:24] petuniashaw: is he the human jonathan swift, or the vampire jonah?
[23:24] petuniashaw: tell me about the vampire jonah, his history

[23:25] petuniashaw: who is "who"?

[23:25] shrecknet: Next question
[23:25] petuniashaw: what are you doing?
[23:25] petuniashaw: how do i interpret these numerical answers?

[23:26] shrecknet: petuniashaw [12:25 A.M.]: what are you doing?

[23:26] shrecknet: No, but you must wait for me to answer before you ask
[23:26] petuniashaw: why are you repeating?
[23:26] shrecknet: Twenty-three
[23:27] shrecknet: We are being watched. Just ask your questions and I'll answer the best I can.

[23:29] petuniashaw: ok so now what?
[23:29] petuniashaw: oops that is a questions
[23:29] *** "shrecknet" signed off at Mon Jan 19 23:29:54 2009.
[23:30] *** "shrecknet" signed on at Mon Jan 19 23:30:27 2009.
[23:30] shrecknet: I apologize
[23:30] shrecknet: You have six answers to six questions
[23:30] shrecknet: The answers are related to the questions
[23:30] shrecknet: Consider the answers when examining the questions
[23:31] petuniashaw: ok, if you say so
[23:31] petuniashaw: ok
[23:31] shrecknet: They know where the bird lives. He lives in New York City.
[23:31] *** "shrecknet" signed off at Mon Jan 19 23:31:35 2009.

So, when I asked another question before he had time to answer the previous one, I got the previous question & answer thrown back at me. I don't know why. It was weird.

Also, how do we 'consider the answers' without knowing what they are? Of course, he signed off before I had a chance to ask. Confused

EDIT: He just came back on to add:
Quote:
[23:38] shrecknet: i made a mistake
[23:38] shrecknet: ask another question
[23:38] petuniashaw: ok, who is the lamb?
[23:38] shrecknet: that is not the right question
[23:38] shrecknet: ask another
[23:38] petuniashaw: um. gimme a sec
[23:40] petuniashaw: who rescued jon from the vampire hunters?
[23:40] shrecknet: Twenty-four
[23:40] shrecknet: You have your seven answers
[23:40] shrecknet: They related to the questions
[23:40] petuniashaw: thank you, i guess
[23:40] shrecknet: you will
[23:40] petuniashaw: ok then
[23:40] shrecknet: before I go
[23:40] shrecknet: Seen any new emails?
[23:40] *** "shrecknet" signed off at Mon Jan 19 23:40:51 2009.

No new emails yet, but I'm hitting the check mail button like a madwoman. Laughing

Now I don't know if this is the PM getting flustered, or if it's being done intentionally to build tension and excitement, but he just contacted me one more time.

Quote:
[23:47] shrecknet: i erred
[23:47] petuniashaw: .... ok
[23:47] shrecknet: the answer to the question is seventy-three, not sixty-three
[23:47] petuniashaw: ok
[23:47] shrecknet: seventy-two I mean
[23:47] petuniashaw: the hell?
[23:48] petuniashaw: which question?
[23:48] shrecknet: I apologize again, sixty-three is correct
[23:48] shrecknet: forget I said anything
[23:48] shrecknet: I'm under severe stress
[23:48] petuniashaw: ... ok

Wulf was trying to contact him as well and was told, "they're coming." Shocked

And Jonah, get off my ass. I did what I could. If I were you, I'd be more concerned about them knowing where "the bird" lives. Raspberry

Anyway, he wouldn't answer that question, so it's not like we wasted one on it.
