ZOMG, email from "Smithy Smith"!!! But somehow it doesn't sound like our Smithy from the first game....

Welp, petunia appears to be the popular one Very Happy. I did try to catch Shrecknet while they were online, but all I got was "good evening and good-bye - they're coming". And then the email(s) she got from Smithy himself.

S'alright - it gives the rest of us plenty to work on. I haven't had any luck with the latest encrypted email on the blog (but with what I missed last time.. Embarassed).

I played with the answers that were given during the chat - but nothing that made any sense. If you total all the answers together you get 269. I took each number and added it to itself.. i.e. 23 = 2+3=5, that didn't result in much - and I also converted those answers to alphabet and came up with G.I.H.E.G.K.F - again nothing that I could see.
I considered maybe getting a phone# out of it, an IP address .. but de nada.

Hopefully there's something in that mess someone else can see that's useful. Time for bed..

Well, shrecknet said that each answer related to the question, and he gave an answer immediately following a question. It also seems like the meaning of the question didn't seem to matter. Which would suggest there is some relationship between the text of the question and the number given. First I thought it might mean to look at that position in the question, and the characters would spell out a word. But most of the numbers are larger than there are characters in the question. I still think it is something like that, but I haven't found anything that works yet. Here are the questions and answers I am using, based on the conversation. Do these seem right?

[23:24] petuniashaw: who wants to kill jon, and why?
[23:24] shrecknet: Twenty-five.

[23:24] petuniashaw: is he the human jonathan swift, or the vampire jonah?
[23:24] shrecknet: Sixty-three

[23:25] petuniashaw: what are you doing?
[23:25] shrecknet: Forty-four

[23:26] petuniashaw: why are you repeating?
[23:26] shrecknet: Twenty-three

[23:27] petuniashaw: who is running the blog?
[23:27] shrecknet: Forty-three

[23:27] petuniashaw: what is the prophecy?
[23:28] shrecknet: Forty-seven

[23:40] petuniashaw: who rescued jon from the vampire hunters?
[23:40] shrecknet: Twenty-four

Yeah, that was my first thought too. But he'd have little to no way of knowing if the questions we'd ask would have the letters in it that he would need. So I'm starting to doubt that the answers point to a letter within the question itself.

Also, there's that 7th question, which he came back specifically for. Why 7 instead of 6? And why was the lamb question unacceptable? Too short, or some other reason?

But it does seem as if there is some kind of formula or process that he was running on each question to get a numerical result. And maybe the lamb question was not acceptable because it wouldn't return something useful?

"You have six answers to six questions. The answers are related to the questions. Consider the answers when examining the questions."

So we have to examine the questions, and find something in them based on the answers...

He said it was 63 anyway. I wager it was to mess with your head a little, Ms. Mint Sauce.

7, not 6.

I got an email, too.

"Don't presume to fly, bird of prey. You are already bound to your jesses."

* * *

Now I got an email forwarded from shrecknet. seems like they forgot about me in the mass email.

Letter and number barf: CEDFCDB015 and GHCHADHD23. Plus a vague threat or warning.

Another IM & email

Jesses? What are jesses?

How am I drawing too much interest? Guess I won't email "Smithy" again?

try to consolidate yourselves into one place. one of you will be killed, or Embraced - many of you cannot be pinned down.

Funny, I don't see JonahFalcon CC'd on the email. But I do see a lot of us. BIG BOO to the PM for not using the BCC button - he should know better. B.S.

I think that was deliberate. And me being left off was apparently a mistake.

Heh - I got a couple of emails too. The one of course that we all got - then..
Quote:

I wonder - does the wolf feast on the lamb as it does the sheep?

Anyone else getting hungry? Twisted Evil Laughing

I'm also wondering if the email you got petunia, about not trusting the wolves was a thinly veiled reference to me - or a direct reference to the werewolves in VTM (whom we so far haven't encountered..)?

==EDIT==
Jesses are the cords/cables that are used by falconers to secure the bird to the falconer while they are being trained.

It sounds like you're being trained, if not already caught. You might want to avoid going outside Laughing

That would explain the email instructing me on how to balance a beach ball on my nose.

We just got another email response to original one they sent us;

Quote:

Error:

CEDFCDB014
GHCHADHD23

There's something wrong with the net - I wonder...

So - we're being told to get together, but then it states that one of us is gonna die or be Embraced. Sounds like a good reason NOT to get together if you ask me.

However, maybe we should setup an IRC channel for easy access for all of us - if we can ever coordinate times - and then let whomever is asking for it, know when we'll be there. I haven't done it before, so if someone else can/wants too?

==EDIT==
I'm not sure this is relevant or not, or maybe just a typo. But the latest blog post '10' mentions the Order of Leopold. However, I thought that it was actually the Society of Leopold. There is an actual Order of Leopold in Belgium. It's also the highest award given to someone for recognition of service to Belgium. In reference to VTM canon - it only ever mentions the Society.
