Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://www.google.com/search?as_lq=deceptech&btnG=Search is a search of all websites that link to Deceptech. Down at the bottom there you'll see http://www.voicestressanalysis.net/, which by poking around will lead you to a bunch of different sites.

Sorry, that one is a real site and not in game. Good hunting there, though...

Ah ok. Some of those sites seemed like they could have an IG tie, but most of them seemed legit, so I wasn't sure. Hopefully nothing bad comes of using a trademarked name though...

Well, at least it should create some free publicity for their product!! Maybe even cause them to make a sale or two!
Who knows, they may even decide they want to buy the domain name so that it matches their product.... that would be cool for someone! $$

Okay, yeah, I was a bit confused, but that's my own concern.

Yeah, apparently there is a legit DecepTech out there somewhere (as the PM has told us repeatedly now), though oddly, a TESS (Trademark Electronic Search System) check doesn't show any registered DecepTech, but there's just too much out there (i.e. the sheriff's website) to assume it's IG right now.

UPDATE: But it drives me nuts now that he mentioned the registered trademark twice when there is none that comes up. And I'm still suspicious that the PM is letting us have a glimpse behind the curtain without their being some kind of endgame in mind.

"Less than 24 hours to go, and the ARG community is simply in a tizzy to see what new twists and turns OFL is going to be serving us in this, his first game of the new year, isn't that right?"
"That's right, Barbara, all of the stars have come out today for this joyous occasion - Pancito has been by carting his trademark wagon of Twinkies and related snack-cakes, Illy swung by in the beginning to kick off the festivities, thebruce came by to create a wiki for the soirée, more people than I can even tell you - it is looking to be an exciting night."
"Even the administrators have been spotted, vpisteve was seen hobnobbing with lunsford and amandel, and some unsubstantiated rumors have us really hoping to see SpaceBass before this all is over."
"Now, one person who has been noticeably absent is NightHawk, despite the fact that the party is technically his - but no one seems perturbed, or even surprised, and the festivities seem to just be getting started here."

Also, sorry if you think you should have been on there - I was running out of ideas of what to put on. Next time I do a monologue, I'll fit you in, I swear!

Still waiting... But there is an update (see below). And a new blog.

So things are coming soon, just not on the last day of January as promised. Now I have to go change the "please wait" site, even though that image was on the dead USB as well. *sigh...*

And I'll comment here instead of on the blog. If you seriously have a problem looking around the edge of the curtain, don't click the blog links. Easy. I actually have a problem the other way. It's sometimes difficult for me to interact with the characters because I know Nighthawk as well as you can know someone you don't know, and it feels a bit artificial. Then I tell myself, "Wait... it's a game. Of course it's artificial." Then I send the email or whatever. Back in the P&P DnD days I knew the DM, too. Didn't stop me interacting then. We all have our problems. And yes, the blog post will be wiki'd. It's game related, so it goes on the wiki. Deal. I also would like to applaud the fact that the PM does let us know when there are delays or downright explosions. It takes a certain amount of guts to do that, and is much preferable to leaving your players hanging IMO.

In the mean time, can I interest anyone in a delicious snack cake?

I think you're absolutely right, Pancito. In all honesty I think it represents a sort of evolution in the ARG. Rather than lament the fact that it's all ultimately a game, why not embrace it?

That said, it still wouldn't surprise me in the least if the blog ended up being part of the ruse in some way, shape or form. Deception is the name of the game after all, or at least the company. Cool

As near as I can tell the counter is now totally meaningless, generating random times between 2 days, 0 hrs and 3:23, which is what it has been doing since the update...

he actually started this blog back when Bol/Sid was in its conception, or shortly thereafter. Its not exactly deception, just a glimpse into his mind Wink
