ok, just got to thinking. what if the vermouth to tequila substitution is not only alphabetically based? What is the conversion is alpha then numerical as "bonus" is a non sanctioned form of value. so that would open not only bonus, but streetcar shuffle, which is long enough for coordinates isnt it? so substitute the t for v and go from there, then numerically change it over... I'll give it a shot I guess, just wondering if the logic is sound?

hey ya gotta give it a shot, Pilot. good ideas come from tangent thinking like this!

hi everyone, i am a lurker

i just wanted to note that after all the times i have watched the promotional video, i just noticed today that worker power is standing in the background of the very first scene, when basketball guy says "this is my milwaukee"

has he always been there? how has no one noticed or mentioned it before?

He's always been there.

And registering an account removes all captchas.

Look Around You

These are certainly out of game and not really related in any way but are very similar in tone and style to the TIMM video. Apparently a BBC show from years past. very funny.

Those are so awesome. The one about ghosts is especially fantastic. I like the lady screaming in the kitchen. I also like the naughty ghost with the pipette.

As soon as I saw TIMM I started telling my friends about this video that had a Look Around You feel to it. Glad to see I'm not the only one that made that connection

OKAY so to get this back on topic...

I just wrote an email to four different blogs with a link to the trailhead, explaining our predicament about how the game is at a standstill and it would help if we could get TIMM on Digg or Reddit or get more FB friends for Lipps + Mars, etc. They were websites with audiences that I think would enjoy the video and thus want to help it go viral: BoingBoing, Kottke.org, Fimoculous and Videogum.

Maybe if we tip enough websites to the video with the intention of making it go viral, it can become a reality? I dunno. I guess it depends on the amount of credibility that high- or medium-profile bloggers give to user-submitted tips.

New video on Synydyne's site

Hey, don't know if this got covered on another thread, but there's a second video with Worker and Joey on Synydyne's website. There's also an intersting string of letters and numbers at the end. Whaddya say folks?

you mean the second video? that was the video that led us to the New York Public Library months ago.

I think the more interesting thing is that the Synydyne website has been updated to include TIMM, and the entire site is TIMM-ified.

RE: my last post

Well, crap. I feel dumb. This is what I get for not paying a whole lot of attention.

On a side note, I was watching the Super Bowl pre-game show, and I thought, "What a marketing coup it would be to randomly stick Worker into the crowds..." If only, if only.

After seeing Synydyne's website now, I get the feeling this was all just a way for them to show what they can do. I think that they are going ahead with the ARG whenever they get around to it, just keeping it barely alive, hoping it goes viral some day. It's really feeling like they're just making it up as they go along and there's no real reason for it all.

Kinda disappointing.

I am not sure I understand fully what "go viral" means in this case? If it's simply "oh, lots of people will see it and link to it and forward it and we'll all have a good laugh," that just seems weird to me, because it seems like there's more effort and care in this story/universe than that, you know?

"Go viral" just sounds like some weird status symbol that ... earns you a gold medal or something? A 2 minute spot on Letterman's Stupid Human Tricks segment?

I guess maybe I am a sunshiny idealist, but things don't really go viral unless there's someone pulling strings, or the content is really, really good, really accessible, and positioned in such a way to be easily digested and understood within seconds.

The initial video for TIMM is not really any of those things - it takes a bit of time and furrowing of the brow to grasp the absurdity of it all, and community to help everyone get up to speed. And while I love everything I've seen so far, I just don't get the impression that they're waiting on US to make them successful. I think they're just sorta waiting for us to solve a puzzle, honestly.

Frankly, I agree with you 100% on all of those points, krystyn. Normally I would just be satisfied with the enjoyment that this game has derived for me personally and just move on, but some of these in-game elements (like Mars' and Lipps' Facebook accounts and their "NEED FRIENDS" profile pictures) seem like basic social engineering puzzles that would only be solved if the game achieved a certain level of notoriety / virality. Just suggesting that while the game is at a standstill as we struggle over the penultimate diary entry, maybe we could solve these other loose ends the PMs have thrown us by pushing people towards the video (and Facebook accounts). Again, just a suggestion.
