So about those winners...did they decide not to award anyone the cars or what? Still not seeing anything on the STI website.

all i know is I haven't received a call yet...
We can only hope that more than 24 hours late means that they keep calling people and no one answers so they have to move on... and thus we still have a chance!
but then again they could be just really lazy...

THANKS! i actually used the spoils to pay for books... and my parking ticket... so it totally helped...
If I would've known of this place before I would've have totally stuck around... and been all "team effort-esque" oh well... next time though... next time...
It has been a while since I have physically participated in an ARG, normally i am way to busy, but being that work is SOOOOO SLOW... I have oodles of time!
So now i just sit around searching for more, and doing my homework... exciting times...

How long does it take to find someone who's over 18 and doesn't work for Sony?

No news... My guess is that it is one of two things...
Either they can't post a name until it is official - i.e. the winner is notified, sent the paperwork, and the paperwork is returned
-or-
Marden-Kane dropped the ball. I had one lucky interaction with them in the past, but they called about 3 weeks after the contest rules said they would. In this case that would mean nobody is going to the premiere, so hopefully someone was notified and will be enjoying the prize.

When I played Case of the Coveted Bottle we were never notified who won. No site update or anything. Someone Googled around and found the winner had posted on some sweepstakes forum. It was a lame way to find out. Most contests also have a way to request a list of the winners in the mail. Dunno about this one though.

Nah. If you win, they call you. If you don't win, but you want to find out who did, then you send them mail.

Movie I checked the site, but still no update on the winners. I did however notice that it says to check back to "view" the winners, so maybe they are actually planning to photograph them at the big premiere and put that on the site.
Planning to go see the movie this weekend. I'm seeing plenty of advertising for it now, so hopefully it will do well.

In case you were wondering... The game was a 42E concoction.

As for websites, www.stoptheinternational.com as well as the website for the IBBC are Web sites that we created with a company called 42 Entertainment. And there are what are known as Alternate Reality Games. These are a somewhat new tool that filmmakers, as well as other companies, are using in their marketing, and we thought they would be a really interesting way to involve people in the "fiction." I don't know how deep you got into it, but there was one component of the ARG called the money tracker, which allows you to take any currency you may have and if you type in the serial number it will tell you for what purposes your money has been used.
In a sense, people who participate in these games are sort of helping Salinger in his quest. We actually created this fiction so that people could play along with Salinger and sort of lead him up to the very point where we meet him in the opening scene of the movie. In short, these ARGs just represent more interesting and innovative ways to get involved in the world of the film.

It seems like we only see those types of articles when a game is over.
(not on the specific article, but on the 42E info, I guess)

ARGs are not Infomercials

It bothers me when people refer to ARGs as just a tool to promote some other art form like movies or console games. Every time the press or ARG clients refer to ARGs this way it shapes the public opinion into thinking that ARGs are just marketing tools when there are tons of examples of indie ARGs that are the "product" themselves.
I understand that the "genre" started as a marketing venue, but if we're ever going to remove the quotes from "genre" and make ARGs widely accepted as a legitimate form of storytelling we're going to have to... well, I don't know what we'll have to do, but we should do something .
In my perfect world, ARGs are art forms with the potential to have a real impact on their players - not just a 10 minute infomercial for ShamWOW.
