Pinwheel is complete!
http://profile.imageshack.us/user/karija/
Print one image, then print the other image on the other side of the paper.
Then follow these instructions:
http://www.janbrett.com/piggybacks/piggybacks_the_hat_pinact.htm

I'm actually living abroad right now and don't have access to a printer, so I hope someone will print one out and let me see how it looks Smile

I asked DDO some questions (Who did this? What happened to the book? How did they get there?) and got this as a response:
Quote:
Friend,

I knew I was right to trust you.

You have done a good job.

Here are your answers:

I did not do this. I didn't. I did not. No. I didn't.

The book was with me until I sent it to Creepy.

They got there when someone -- I did not do this -- read the words aloud.

Everyone was lost.

Everyone but me.

I did not do it.

I could not do it.

I need you to find people we can trust in Texas.

It's not my fault.

Can you find people?

DDO

Something tells me that DDO did it. Wink I'm totally open to pressing him about stuff if we need to..

I actually used to live in Texas, so I might be able to get friends involved. However, if there is anyone active in the community here on the boards from Texas, they'd get priority. Any takers?

DDO Challenge!

I just received this from DDO:

Quote:
If you have her trust, then I will ask you to prove you have her trust.

There is a page in the book that does not have any dangerous information.

But it has a word hidden in it.

This word will show me that you can be trusted.

Ask her to give you my notes from this page.

She must do this privately.

I am not to blame.

Gur cntr ahzore vf guvf npg "Nl, nl, n fpengpu, n fpengpu; zneel, 'gvf rabhtu" gvzrf 19, cyhf gjb. Gur cnentencu vf gur npg gvzrf gjb.

The end bit is ROT+13 and reads:

Quote:
THE PAGE NUMBER IS THIS ACT "AY, AY, A SCRATCH, A SCRATCH; MARRY, 'TIS ENOUGH" TIMES 19, PLUS TWO. THE PARAGRAPH IS THE ACT TIMES TWO.

A question about ROT+13 code: Are Arabic numbers rotated 13 as well or only letters? (the 19 was in the encrypted original - is this really 32?) This will make a difference I suppose!

I assume this is Romeo and Juliet as well? I need to go look it up. Is there a way to contact Creepy privately? If I put it on Twitter it is still public, right? I can handle getting the page, I just need help with contacting Creepy. Is this a new task or has anyone else received a similar one?

Off to read R&J (unless someone recognizes it?)... NOW this is getting fun! Very Happy

BTW, Thanks for the Kate Callahan info, ifihadahifi - I didn't realize there was a back story....

EDIT: It is R & J, Act 3, Scene 1. This means DDO needs me to send him his notes on either page 57 (19x3) or 96 (32x3), paragraph 6 (Act 3 x2). Is it 57 or 96? Any votes?

My guess is this. As pointed out it is Act 3 that we're dealing with. So according to the clue from DDO, it would be the act (3) times 19 plus 2. That gives you page 59. Then the paragraph is the act (3) times 2.

I vote page 59, paragraph 6. Unless my math is wrong which is entirely possible. Not my strong subject.

Oh, and @ ndemeter, I will hit you up when I find out what is going on. Seeing as I am down in the southern part of the state, it would be good to have someone up north too. Thanks for offering to help!

ETA - I ran that original encrypted bit through a regular cryptogram solver and it returns "19" as the number, not "32". I would assume it is safe to use 19 as the starting point.

Math challenge

Whoops! Forgot the "plus two" - thanks! I'll go with 59, paragraph 6 then.

Any thoughts on the message? It looks like she needs to "follow" me on Twitter to send a private message. I'll try it and see. So far she's only following Randy and Earl. Maybe I'll convince her to expand her communications with her fans... Wish me luck!

UPDATE: I have established private correspondence with Creepy on Twitter. I will come up with a way to ask for the page and post it if I get it.

Update on the CreepyLunyInn News, a long entry with the promised back cover info. Sent this passage to DDO:
Quote:
"... R S H peopleD J N ... blindlyP R A ... understand J G Q , untilP O H ... WorldS A W. ... whatW H G is right.

... deathA G Q, ... againstA W H ... evil ..."

Sorta grill DDO with each email and will ask him about these upper case letters although he Nevah answers any questions.

Gonna work on them myself (offline Sad ) and Creepy asks that if we "find anything useful, let me know" which seems sensible.
ETA: was able to d/l Trillian's fan "commercial" and have been ROFLing like a hyena since just thinking about it. Cool

I'll take a look at those letters as well. That is quite the puzzler. I have a feeling I am going to make my brain hurt looking at this.

I asked DDO why he gave the book to Creepy. An entire email without a "It's not my fault!" and he came dangerously close to taking responsibility.

Quote:
Friend,

I sent it to Creepy because she is a mythologist.

I believed she was the person who could solve my

I believe she was the person who could solve this problem.

I was wrong.

She has done nothing at all but make things worse.

All my notes are in that book.

I do not have them any more.

I know the pages, but nothing else.

Do you know someone who is close to Creepy?

Do you know someone who can get my notes?

We must leave the book where it is.

No more damage can be caused.

I should never have given it away.

DDO

So who wants to be nominated as close to Creepy? Very Happy

I also got a similar email from DDO:

Quote:

Friend,

There are rupture points.

I need someone to get a message in.

There is a problem.

I put my notes into the book.

Then I couldn't bare to be with the book any longer.

Now all my notes are with her.

Do you know anyone who has Creepy's trust?

We mustn't move the book anymore.

But we must get my notes from her.

I know the pages that relate to your rupture points.

I can tell you the pages.

Do you know someone who can get information from Creepy?

DDO

As for who should contact Creepy, Amandel has had the most contact with her directly. witsEkr also has direct contact with her on Twitter if I am not mistaken. We also have Earl that we can try to get to help us if we need to. I've tried contacting Creepy a few times, so I don't mind trying to get the info we need. Although, we may all have different pages that we need to get our hands on.

I am sad that I don't have the technology with me to put a commercial up. Trillian's was excellent.

Two short emails from DDO who hasn't responded well to my direct (but polite Rolling Eyes ) questions.
Quote:
I did not do this.

It's not my fault.

I think you suspect me.

Why would you do that?

I told you I did not do this.

AND

I can see that you have Creepy's trust.

However, I do not know that I can give you mine.

I am concerned.

Unless he gets a major suck-up reckon DDO won't give me any new tasks. Prolly unwise for anyone to pressure him.
Of course, will help with Creepy and really believe it's more fun and ultimately most productive if we all give it a try.

Ok so I got another email from DDO.

Quote:

Friend,

You must make certain that Creepy does not know what is going on.

I do not trust her.

I trust you.

I will tell you the pages that have my notes for California.

Tomorrow.

Today I am too afraid.

I am afraid that Creepy will catch on.

I am afraid that someone will blame me.

I trust you.

Shouldn't I?

DDO

So it would appear that we may be pressing DDO too much. We cannot lose his trust, so we should probably stay away from any comments that might make him think that we blame him, even if he might be crazy.

Also, Creepy's latest tweet was

Quote:
Getting some odd requests today.

This makes me think that we might have to come up with some convincing ways to get our info from Creepy. Judging by the specific nature of the notes, I would say that we're all going to have to contact Creepy to get our pages. A large number of requests would seem weird. But if we do it for The Seeker and Randy, she might be more willing to let us help. Maybe someone can let her know that there will be multiple requests coming in, but that they are from people want to help.

Hopefully I'll have a better idea of what is ahead when I get my email tomorrow. Any thoughts/ideas?

Notes

I have established direct private contact with Creepy via Twitter and have asked for the page 59 paragraph 6 notes, so far to no avail... She wants to know why and I am trying to get her to trust me without telling her the reason. I keep telling her that I think I can help.

I think a lot of requests coming in at once might be a tip off too, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Maybe I could tell her I got the information from a psychic? Wink If anyone has any great ideas, I'm open to suggestions!

Give me another day to see if I can get my notes - if I can't, I'll back off and let someone else try!

BTW, Tiffany48: I found a friend in Arizona for you! You should hear from him soon.

So far DDO hasn't been questioning me. So I'll put in a good word for Amandel and witsEker.

Maybe we should tell Creepy there are a group of us fans trying to sleuth out whats going on? We could make a group page on Ning. Or that we believe we know where the book from? I have the feeling we're going to have to throw her some sort of a bone.

@Karija: imo all the ideas in your post are SUPAH especially the "group page" which Creepy maybe should get a tweet about.
The majority of my queries to DDO concerned the margin notes' purpose and possible key needed to decipher them.
After mentioning the reason "why questions" to him, DDO mailed with a change of heart and threw us a lil hint. Bolding mine:
Quote:
I wrote the notes in a rushed madness.

I can't even remember what they say.

That's why I need them.

Don't blame me.

It wasn't what I wanted.

I never meant to.

The key, I believe, you already know.

I'm sorry.

I'm so sorry.

It's not my fault.

When able to connect online have been working the new upper case letters as a few types of Transposition Ciphers at
The Cipher Clerk. Will start anew using Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare or Eighteen as key phrases. OT-wacky wknd Y'all!

OK, long week is over so hopefully I can be of a little more assistance now. Just to get all the letters together here:

R S H D J N P R A J G Q P O H S A W W H G A G Q A W H

Not likely to be a transposition cipher as there a 2 Q's and no U's.
BTW, did we ever get anywhere with the book title?
