[Trailhead] H.U.N.T. Corporation

My friend in New York got handed a business card yesterday at Comic-con. I don't have a picture, but apparently the card reads:

H.U.N.T. Corporation
Agent Recruitment www.huntheadquarters.com 866-730-HUNT

A quick visit to the site reveals a technology company whose CEO Lee Excelsior bears a striking resemblance to a certain world-renowned comic book creator. Stan Lee + time travel ARG? Count me in!

So far, the site seems pretty bare-bones... just a hacked video and a placement quiz. Anyone see anything else? Also, anyone have a picture of the card?[/img]

Hey, that's Hugh Hefner! Wink

Poor Stan can't act, but I love the guy anyway.

The recruitment quiz is kinda fun, too.

ETA: The page source has something rather odd....

Durr. Did a Google search. I'll spoiler the results just to be safe:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2008/07/stan-lee-walt-d.html

"[Disney] will work with Lee on a new digital comic book, "Time Jumper." Readers can follow the exploits of a new crew of superheroes, however they choose: online, via mobile phone or old-fashioned comic book format.

Time Jumper "Time Jumper" blends old-fashioned storytelling with technology that extends well beyond dialog and thought bubbles. In its digital form, it'll include music, voices and fast-paced story-boards.

Now for the geeky narrative details: "Time Jumper" follows the exploits of our hero, Terry Dixon, who is an agent of a secret government organization known as HUNT (short for Heroes United, Noble and True). He has a cellphone called The Articulus that has the one feature you can't get -- yet -- from Apple's iPhone: a time machine."

So before "Lee" does his oscar award winning climax performance "when the heck is he!?", the screen is attacked with the message

Quote:
#DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING H.U.N.T. TELLS YOU

which then gives you a link ...

cd/promovideo/outtakes/vidplay/take3.mov

i thought you would just add that extension to the end of http://www.huntheadquarters.com/ ...but that doesn't work.

I also found this, although it is OOG. http://artofant.deviantart.com/art/Terry-Dixon-Time-Jumper-110498456

I just assumed that cd file stuff was our hacker bringing up a different video, take3.mov, which is the outtake where Lee lets his guard down.

Forgive me if I'm stating the obvious, but it seems like it's just a mixture of DOS commands (cd for change directory) and URL formatting.

So, other than the really short quiz you can take, is there any other interaction you can do on the site?

Hey. Just to let you guys know, I'm a complete newbie at this, just found out about the whole ARG concept last week.

I've taken the quiz numerous times, and every time I put in the exact same answers. However, I am getting seemingly random results.... So far, I've gotten:

Potential Administrator
Potential Field Rep
Potential Technologist
Potential Director
Potential Ambassador

Should prove interesting. I like the true or false question #3-- "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, true or false". That cracked me up....

But I had the same problem as Yorith-- at first I was a 'potential field rep', then I was a 'potential administrator'. I wonder if they've noticed that yet...

The 'Terms of Use & Privacy Policy' link brings up a cute message.

Kind of weird how, if I 'View Page Source' on the home page, or when accessing these terms of use, I get the same source (might be a result of their use of Flash - I'm a noob at Flash). Also, I'm gonna look at http://www.huntheadquarters.com/javascript.js just in case.

Quote:

function iphone_home() {
var str = '<img src="images/iphone/logo.gif"

Together with the previously reported blurb by SamniteX
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Makes me wonder if this is really a promotion for a
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

new product or line of products by Disney targeting the iPhone ?
Anyone with an iPhone can try and access this site ?

Analyzing the aforementioned js file, I can confirm that the answers to the questionnaire don't matter. You'll get a random suggestion (see function quiz_summary) regardless of your answers. All the possibilities (for now) are:

Potential Administrator
Potential Ambassador
Potential Field Rep
Potential Technologist
Potential Director

There's also three lines commented out:
Code:
// <img src="images/clicktoregister.gif" width="346" height="21" border="0">
//   str+= 'Randomnumber = '+randomnumber;
//   str+= '<P><A>Redo</A>';

Seems almost like debugging code (to make sure that the code uses the random number, maybe), but the clicktoregister image makes me think they might un-comment it later on. So this might not be quite ready yet.

More 'out of character' info about Time Jumper

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/animatedfilms/timejumper/
...
Terry Dixon, the greatest agent of the secret government organization known as HUNT (Heroes United, Noble and True), has a cell phone like no other. Invented by Terry's father, it's called The Articulus and it has all the latest and greatest cell phone features-plus one: It's also a time machine!

Ever mindful of the dangers of Articulus falling into the wrong hands, Terry's father ensured that it can be operated by only two people on earth-Terry and his brother Sam. But Sam, the original Time Jumper, has been lost in time, forcing Terry, an unlikely hero, to step into his shoes. As Terry's search for his brother propels him through space and time, he is pursued by Charity Vyle, the beautiful, diabolical head of a worldwide criminal cartel called CULT (Council of Unlawful, Loathsome Terrorists), who wants Articulus for her own nefarious schemes. Each episode, Terry tries to stay one step ahead of his sworn enemy, while tracking down new clues to Sam's whereabouts.
