Around 40 people total showed for the Davis GPS site. Fifteen of us met near where MapQuest put the mark at the NE corner of 2nd and C streets. No phone there but we had scouted out three nearby. We split up between the three nearest phones - one on the SE corner of 3rd and C , one at SE corner of 2nd and B, and on the East side of D street between 2nd and 3rd (I picked that one because it is in a booth that looks like Dr. Who's Tardis). There were already people at all the phones when we got to them! The phone at 2nd and B got the call, fortunately the person answering had the code and we made the axon hot. I note that while this phone was not closest to the X on the mapquest map, it was the only one that was on the block where the X was placed. Streets had to be crossed to get to the others. Maybe take this into account if phone choices have to be made. One phone does not make a trend though.

The 40 players included four women, high school age kids, a lot of undergrads and perhaps five or six in the over forty age group. It was about 4 to 1 Halo fans versus ARGers. Some expressed interest in the ARG only if it would get them Halo sooner.

Purpose achieved, thanks to the other "much_lifting" sites for getting the .wav activated!

Our Axon went hot baby!

We had 13 people here live and one showed up a couple of minutes late because she was watching the actual location instead of the payphone that we were all crowded around. The payphone was in the public library across the street about 200 feet away from the spot.

I got audio and pictures to upload later.

Whee!

ok, I was at the 5th yes_or_no axon with a number of people, split into two groups...(aka the 7:47 Irving Mall location here in TX)
I chose the right set of phones, but wasn't the one to grab it. However the guy did activate it. one of the other members of our imprompto group was on the phone with a friend, and by the end of the call, the ilb reported us as hot. He was asked for the nickname, and replied "Operator" clearly. He listened to "a conversation" (which I presume is the yes_or_no.wav) and chose to continue. In hind site, it'd be nice if he'd repeated so the rest of us could hear. *sigh*

After the call, most of us went across the mall to the new circut city, and tried to hop onto the forums, but that was when they were down down doobie down. We decided to head to the
08:35 PDT
32.778333 -096.807433
however, we all managed to get lost, and turned around, and failed to find the phone in time. *sigh* At that point my sister & I decided to go home since we didn't have a list of points, and had other activities on our agenda. Like eating.

Sorry for the tardiness of this report...
Metroplex TX, signing off...

well the third [?] santa monica ca axion went hot, thanks to it's distance from the meddling muscle bunnies, and we also got it all on tape for g4 tv. interestingly, we were only asked for "her name," no other questions, before we were treated to a long audio clip. g4 recorded everything, including the call. should be interesting to see, they said they'd post and play everything by friday...

Problem is, none of them rang. We all gathered back up about ten minutes past our firing point, unsure of what to do. Our grouping succeeded anyways, but it still sucked to head out there for nothing. Anyone else get dud spots?

Glad you made it there Eck. My insomnia kicked in this weekend and last night was the first good night's sleep I had in days. I woke up about an hour late for the transmisssion. It sucks nothing happened, but I'm definitely willing to try again tommorow before class!

No luck at the Richmond, VA site (37.582509 -77.499047). There were no less than 6 pay phones in the area that all tested negative for incoming calls. 13:41 (4:41 PM local) rolled around and... nothing. Sad

[I can't seem to get an account activation e-mail, sorry for anonymous post.]

Just returned from the 14:38 PDT location on H Street in Washington DC. The phone was at a building under renovation, and was literally behind a chain link fence. It had "Out of Order" scrawled on it in green ink, and the last digit of its phone number was obscured too. Not good signs. Two other people there (sorry, didn't get any names but I should have!), and while two of us tried calling all the numbers in the range (luckily only 10), our third compatriot, with bendy arms apparently, managed to pick up the phone and confirm it was a dud.

But I see that two other axons in the series connected, so we'll still get to hear hey_dad.

I was also at the 11:20 PDT "Nervous" location in DC with 5 other folks, and we got that one taken care of, we even managed to repeat the message 5 times for all to hear. Very Happy

Sorry all,

I missed the call there. I didn't check the map closely enough, and I went to the wrong set of payphones (the ones in the Century Mall). Turns out, I think it was at the Borders'. No one over there heard the phone ring, though.

BTW, I also wanted to say tha the siren in the background of walkaway_girl was used in The Beast with a sample the Red King put out there. Good to see them using the same sounds. Smile

Thanks for showing, Aranna. Really great turnout. Watching people and guessing if they were with ilovebees or not was fun. red pill/blue pill feelings. good job to all that went, it was a unique experience.

I'll make a legit post as soon as the email comes through.

I was at Baltimore, MD, for message_saved at 5:14, and I found the phone.

Or at least where the phone was. It had been ripped straight off the wall. Pictures were taken. Fortunately other sites managed to get the call. Smile

Location: Far Far Away. Nowhere Near You. Really.

AD's adventure in DC/VA checking axons.

Day started with

9:50 PDT in Virginia (phone outside a Wendys) with three other guys - local game company guy, one friend of someone who couldn't get to the phone, and one other. Call on time; they let me take it. What is my nickname - Operator - and then it played the Janissary clip. Did not ask me for the password (pqi). I asked for the repeat once, then it didn't occur to me to let everyone else in the group listen too. Sorry about that, guys! When I said "continue" you got hardware damage comment and then lots of "I Love Bees".

12:11 PDT in DC, phone across from the Arts & Industries bldg of the Smithsonian, near the carousel. Kaziel from Penny Arcade showed up on his bike (he did LOTS today) and a woman with friends in Pittsburgh who told her to show up because they are in the same group of 7. Unfortunately the phone in front of her rang, and we let her pick up because she sounded like she understood what was going on. Then she said "Melissa". Wrong answer! Crap. Kaziel is going to try to get that tomorrow.

13:26 PDT phone supposedly on the corner of 9th and N. Stuart. But no phones at all. I drive around the block, ascertain that the entire block is one building, and it is all 901 N. Stuart. Even the end on Fairfax Drive. So if you mapquested that address you'd get the spot on our maps (and the two previous ones were no more than 50 feet from the long/lat info), but maybe I need to consider the whole block. At the Fairfax Drive end is a subway station with a bank of 6 phones on the corner. Bingo! Phone rings. Nickname = Operator; no password requested. Got a short clip of a girl and a guy discussing their mothers.
Nobody else is there so I repeat once, then say "continue" and get the "I Love Bees" mantra again.

14:38 PDT phone on H between 17th & 18th Streets. Inside a fenced construction zone (7 foot fence plus barb wire). One end of the enclosure actually chained to the phone kiosk. Someone else shows up. [edit: see post above, that was harsh] Neither of us can reach the phone without endangering selves and/or clothes, so we try calling it. No dice. Bad sign. Then Kaziel shows up again and he, more willing to risk his Tshirt, finds a way to grab the bottom of the handset. Confirmed: phone is nonfunctional.

One more to go!

BTW, where the hell were the dancing robots?!

'beer' is up. This set is before 'parasites'.

[EDIT] It seems to be after 'eyes'. The guy in the ear-piece says "sorry about that".
