Got an email back from Rachel RE:Penfold;

Quote:
Hey Tom,

I've never heard of Tim Penfold and Markus never mentioned him. He does seem a bit sus.

I've got to concentrate on finding out about this disease that Markus was worried about before I do anything else (would also like to get rid of the snot situation : p). Let me know if you find anything, OK? Thanks so much.

Rx

Not a lot of help really. Looks like the disease is the next clue we're meant to be looking for...???

I'd recommend Kleenex for the cold, personally. Wink

As for the disease Markus may have had... it might be worth getting an actual spanish speaker to look at Paulina's testimony. There was a sentence I couldn't translate in the middle that talked about him being ill.

Is anyone partaking in the barrage of phone calls to Frontier Genetics tomorrow as requested by Matt, as I have already promised to Rachel that I won't be (Long story, basically, her latest video "convinced" me that Matt was only wanting his article published for personal gains!)

EP: In spite of every precaution that we took with the hotel, never before has this happened.
CB: I only have a couple of questions that are to do to with him.
EP: By all means, ask them.
CB: What time did you find the body of Dr. Schoenberg?
EP: Ten past one, he didn't come down to have breakfast. [can't do this sentence]
CB: He was ill?
EP: No, but there has been some illness around this way.
CB: Ah, the measles.
EP: When I called at his door was there was no answer, so I entered and [encontre] the floor so what. He was… horrible.
CB: It takes, [paneulo]. [think it's general genuflecting]
EP: Thanks, thanks.
CB: When was the last time you saw the Dr alive?
EP: Last night, it was in reception when he retired to his room at about 11:00, I think. I remember he wished me goodnight. Normal [Parechia].
CB: He wasn't heartbroken at all? Last night at some point in the day?
EP: No, nonheartbroken. The Dr. Schoenberg always parecio… worried, a little lost in his world, but not anything you could call 'heartbroken'.
CB: Did you see or hear something unusual during the night?
EP: No, nothing don't mention it. No shots, or [perleas]. It was a normal night. Calm. At least I thought it was, until…
CB: Only a couple of questions left, Mrs. Estoval. Had Dr. Schoenberg been visited during his stay in the hotel?
EP: No, nobody. Or I did not see anybody at least.
CB: And telephone calls?
EP: He did not have any. At least not in its apartment. But he made a call, to England. We have an international draft registration point. My husband can get you a copy.
CB: Thanks. Finally; did he tell Dr Schoenberg when thought tapeworm marched? [no idea on this sentence]
EP: No, not the exact day, but when registry in the hotel said that not [quedaria] but of one week. Her family must be destroyed.
CB: Is there anything else you'd like to add?
EP: No, I believe not.
CB: Please contacts us if you remember anything else.
EP: By all means. Can I go now?
CB: Of course. I will be in contact with you if I have any questions. Thanks for coming.

Sorry for the length but it seemed best to quote the original post as it was on the previous page. I've made a few tweaks that may make this a little clearer...I hope...corrections are in caps rather than try to add footnotes. One word still escaping me!

ouch that's a lotta red! no need to spoiler chats. if there are particular solutions to puzzles or significant plot points, spoler them, but chat transcripts need not be spoilered... tnx! ;)

Hmmm....

'We KEEP A RECORD OF INTERNATIONAL CALLS' - maybe this will be useful? I mean, we know for certain that the Prof. spoke to Matt before hus death, but that was possibly from a mobile?
If I'm not mistaken, by request of the billees, you can gain all phonecall entries to and from the establishment. Maybe someone else called? Hence the distress in his voice....

As for Mr Blacker, H-O-T, I'm going to phone Frontier Genetics soon. Do you reckon it'll be an answer phone?

And stop hating on Matt! He's just so yummy... I could eat him with a spoon!
x

The original translation that Sarah B posted was spoilered, as it was apparently posted on the police site, and this was a correction to that spoilered chat so it seemed best to spoiler that too.
I apologise if that was incorrect, but I've not been following this, just added/corrected some of the missing chat, and from what I could make out, the police site to which she referred was a spoiler.

As a guy, I have no opinion on whether Matt is hot or not..... Rachel, however, IS! Very Happy

What to do now? The DEPAA activists have been released and the Peruvian police have closed the investigation as suicide......

Well... I've looked up Planta dos Deuses, the cult thing Rachel mentioned Markus might be involved in. They have a website here http://www.plantadosdeuses.org/index.php

Something aboutt the force being everywhere? Seems a bit Star Wars to me. XD If you wish to email them, you can do so here growSPLATplantadosdeuses.org Since I've emailed everyone else so far, I'll leave this one to someone else!

I'll watch the videos when I get a quiet moment.

Oh, and despite their promises, I haven't recieved anything from DEPAA in the post. Sad So I'm thinking maybe that was a bit of a dead end.

 Telephone call to Frontier Genetics

Bloody receptionist... grrr....

Well, as promised, I phoned up FG in regards to Mr Blacer's article not being used. Here's a rough transcript of what was said:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
FG: Good afternoon, Frontier Genetics. Liz speaking, how may I help you?
ME: Hello, I was wondering if you could help me. I'm looking to speak to someone in relation to an article I was looking forward to no longer being released within the magazine.
FG: Ok, could I take a name please?
ME: Yeah sure, it's Kimberly C*******r.
FG: Ok, Miss C*******r. If you could just hold for a moment while I try and get one of our editing team to you.
ME: Thank you.

*********************CHEESEY MUSIC**********************

TIM: Hello, Miss C*******r?
ME: Yes.
TIM: Hi, my name's Tim. I'm a member of the editorial team. I hear that you have a query regarding a future article?
ME: Yes, I am a great follower of Matthew Blacker's writing and when I first heard that he had been commissioned to write an article for Frontier Genetics I was rather excited.
So, imagine my displeasure when I (a subscriber to your magazine) found out that his article had been dropped in not the best of circumstances!
TIM: Yes, ok, I see why you are not best pleased. However, it was an editorial decision that the article was not best suited for Frontier Genetics at this time.
ME: What? You mean an article on biopiracy was not relevant to a biology driven magazine, in light of the current investigation of Markus Schoenburg and the biopiracy scandal?
TIM: Well...
ME: C'mon Tim... a leading magazine just throws this away? Its bad business!
TIM: Look, I understand where you're coming from. I've been inundated with phonecalls the past two days because of this, but there's nothing that can be done.
The decision came from the editor-in-chief, and we couldn't challenge it. I'm sorry that the article isn't in there, really I am, but I'm afraid its already done.
ME: So, can you shed any light on why the article was spiked?
TIM: Spiked?
ME: Yeah, spiked Tim.
TIM: Ermm... no....
ME: Ok, Tim. Could you pass on my comments to your editor in chief please? Tell him, that in light of this issue I am seriously considering my subscription to Frontier Genetics and am encouraging others to think alike.
TIM: I will do. Can I take some details to get hold of you?
ME: You can have my e-mail address ****************
TIM: Ok, Kim. Someone will be in contact soon.
ME: Thanks Tim, I'm sorry if you feel I had a go at you personally. I was rather angry with the situation, not you. You're lovely! Smile
TIM: Ha Ha! Thanks!
ME: Ok, have a good day. Thanks for your help.
TIM: You too. No worries, thanks for calling.
ME: Bye!
TIm: Buh Bye now!

So there you have it.
I was perusing Matt's website and it seems he got an interview with the editor-in-chief, who was rather rude. I can't decide whether he's been straight or there's something else going on...
I need to read more of Matt's stuff really...

Intrigueing.

Email from Rachel

Quote:
I'm really sorry to email out of the blue, but I know you've been playing Routes, which is the game my Uncle, Markus Schoenberg, worked on before he mysteriously died a few weeks ago. I think you can help me get to the bottom of his death.

My lovely mate Fluffy has put together a recap video of everything that's gone on so far. If you're a bit lost, please have a look. He's made three videos so far:
http://www.youtube.com/user/fluffybickles

Markus was found in Peru, and one of the Routes players managed to hack into the site where the case files are stored, at http://www.policias-distrito-calca.pe/ The case file number is CLC0108-1314, then log in as cbarrera with password rafael. To be honest we haven't found anything that helpful there - but maybe you will? It seems like DEPAA and Prometha have both been accused of bio-piracy, which could be related - but we're not sure. Their websites have some useful info in them.

Thank you again, you're ace. I may very well heart you.
