Serial murderer and delicious candy

Uh... what the hell is this?

Thank you for subscribing to the Eruditio Private School's Newsletter! This is our first one- as such, it's going to be short!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We'd like to remind the seniors that they have the big math test coming up! This test will decide who get a 5,000 dollar scholarship. Of the 200 seniors taking it, only 3 will walk away with the money. Good luck!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Amelie Jameson has done it again! The girl who not only gets straight A's, has won a scholarship for her most recent painting, "A Wistful Night". It will be displayed at Eruditio for the next two weeks, so come see it quick! We asked Amelie a few questions in between her Sociology and AP English classes.

Q: How do you feel about winning this scholarship? It must be a relief to know you can go to school pretty much for free!
A: It's pretty exciting. I kind of just want to get back to painting though.

Q: Who would you say your biggest artistic inspiration is?
A: I don't get inspired by "who"s, I get inspired by "what"s. Nature inspires me. "A Wistful Night" has no people in it. It's trees, weepily looking over a lake. That is beautiful to me.

Q: Is there anything inspiring you want to say to all your fans?
A: I'm not famous. I'm not the star football player or something. Work hard, I guess.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a school dance on Wednesday! It's being hosted by the local company, MiTech, who will be bringing in new sodas and candies they have made! MiTech is a science group which, among other things, has worked with the government to engineer more nutritious and yet, somehow more delicious foods! That's what I want to do when I grow up! Due to the current danger of the serial murderer in our town, the dance will be right after school, 5 PM to 9 PM. Please be in your houses before 10!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have any questions, concerns, or you want to be taken off of our mailing list, please email us to let us know! Thanks, and tell everyone about the Eruditio Private School Newsletter!

I somehow don't think real private schools send out newsletters at 1:30AM...

We're a new school, as in only three years old, and we haven't really gotten to making a school site. We're just having our students and their parents email us if they want to get our newsletter for now. It's primitive, but it works!

I got this also. I think that pretty much confirms its ARGness.

[TRAILHEAD] Eruditio Private School
Serial murderer and delicious candy

Hello everyone,
As many of these threads begin "I received a suspicious email this morning". It seems that the Eruditio Private School has mistakenly added me to their newsletter mailing list since I am single and have no children attending their school. I did, however, reply with an offer to render my services as a photographer in an effort to establish contact and stay on their mailing list. I have appointments all day today so will be unable to do much research until later in the weekend, but look forward to playing along. Eruditio is latin for Knowledge or learning <-there's my first contribution

Below is the original email along with my response:

Hello all,
I believe that this newsletter has been sent to me by mistake since I am single and have no children attending Eruditio Private School. However, I would like to continue to receive news about your school events and schedule. I am a professional freelance photojournalist and have worked with private schools in the past to cover events like dances, homecoming, and sport championships. It would probably be cost prohibitive for you to retain my services for minor events like the school dance this Wednesday, but for larger events we might be able to come to a mutually beneficial arrangement. In the past, schools have recooped much of the cost of my fees and travel expenses (I'm based out of the Seattle area) by reselling my images to parents as part of a fundraiser. If you let me know where your school is located and pass along a schedule of major events I could send you some estimates for travel expenses and look at my schedule to see if we could work together in the future. You never know, your mistake in sending me this newsletter could result in a wonderful new relationship.

Have a great day!
Martin Aggett

I got the exact same email too.

I offered them my services as a web designer, we'll see how far that gets. Rolling Eyes

Email replies
from School Principal and James Horowitz

I received two replies from my offer to provide photography services. One was positive and may result in further communication with the school principal Kellee Zapuda. The second shows some strife between the principal and James Horowitz. I tried to find evidence of MiTech online but didn't find anything worth mentioning. It seems that the star student Amelie is also getting paid for ?photography? or art services and they have two staff photographers. Notice they didn't acknowledge the question regarding the location of the school.

I don't know how this happened, maybe a student is playing a prank on you or I! At any cost, it'd be a pleasure to see if we can work out an agreement about this. I'll find my major events schedule and try and get it into an email for you. Could you direct all further inquiries to my own email?

Thank you.

Eruditio hardly needs another photographer. I swear if Kellee hires you we'll go bankrupt, we already have two AND Amelie, who is paid best of all for some reason!

Listen, don't even bother.

I'm liking the whole vibe of this ARG. The thing that bothers me is the level of the writing. I really doubt the principal of a private school writes like a high school student and says things like "that's what I want to be when I grow up!" I'm bothered by crappy ARG writing. It makes it super obvious it's an ARG. =/

I got this too. Smile

I'll figure out an angle and reply later... Maybe i'll be a concerned parent worried about that serial killer. Smile
