There are multiple reasons PMs want to collaborate with local folks. One is the face to face interaction. Sometimes brainstorming and problem solving sessions are best handled over a cup of coffee together. There may be elements of the game that require multiple people in the same city working together on the game, etc. The list goes on.

After posting my request for help in Seattle, I found someone half the country away that I've been working great with, but I'm still looking for someone local to work with as well.
