Here's the explanation for outside.html

Dear Bradley,

It was a little joke, really. I was saying that those people who spend so
much time on the internet really need to get outside more!

Sincerely,
Amanda Graves

Dear Bob,

Thanks for your interest in www.urbanmythology.net. Part of the fun of
urban legends is as you have done - picking out the obvious inconsistencies
that make the story obviously false. Glad you're having fun with it.

I'll put your e-mail address on the list for notification when the site is
updated.

Sincerely,
Amanda Graves

Just received this:

Quote:

Dear Jehane,

I'm afraid I might have angered Dr. Shoemaker a bit, but he was kind enough to extend an invitation to test out the Dream Projector. I put a small update on the Dream Projector legend on my website. He didn't threaten me, he was quite civil. I suppose I won't know unless I try it for myself, right?

Amanda Graves

Dear Bob,

That poor man! I have heard the legends about tiny piranhas swimming ... up
the stream... and I have heard about bums supposedly killed after urinating
on the third rail, but never about the lightning. And there's the timeless
Ren and Stimpy classic:

When nature's callin'
Don't be stallin'
Use your common sense
Before you let it flow
Find a place to go
Just don't whiz on the electric fence

I asked Amanda about the origins of her posting the "Dread House" story, hoping for a lead:

Quote:
Dear xxxxxxxx,

Thanks for your interest in www.urbanmythology.net. My goal was to try to
collect the rarer variations of legends that other sites might not have.
Otherwise, what's the point, right? I collect my stories from all over the
place, so I can't say just where I picked up on the Dread House one.

I'll put your e-mail address on the list for notification when the site is
updated.

Sincerely,
Amanda Graves
Webmaster, www.urbanmythology.net

So that's a dead end...

Here are my email interactions with Amanda so far. (sorry I didn't get around to posting them until now)

I wrote using their website contact form about a legend from my home town and a few others I had heard about. I unfortunately forgot to copy what I wrote - I'll make sure and contact her using my regular email account from now on so I'll have a copy.

She replied:
Quote:
Dear Varin,

Thank you so much for those interesting myths! I will put them in my file
for possible inclusion. Did you find the pictures you took of the old
schoolground? I'd like to put that legend in with your pictures.

Sincerely,
Amanda Graves
Webmaster, www.urbanmythology.net

To which I replied:
Quote:
I have some of the pictures here...

http://www.varin.org/gallery/GoodShepherd

Feel free to use whatever you'd like. I'll be adding more if I can
get my negative scanner to work in the next couple of days. Smile

Varin

To which she replied:
Quote:
Dear Varin,

I just looked at the gallery of pictures you have from the Good Shepherd
school. Wow, those are really eerie! I really enjoy your photography. Do
you have a preference as to which picture I can use? I think my leading
candidate is the entrance to the cafeteria.

Sincerely,
Amanda Graves
Webmaster, www.urbanmythology.net

And I just replied:
Quote:
You can use any of them that you'd like Smile The cafeteria entrance
shot is one of my favorites. I'm really enjoying reading your site.
I'm a big fan of urban myth stories and one of my favorite shows is
Mythbusters. If only I could get a job on that show! Those guys look
like they are having way to much fun.

I was shopping this weekend and actually saw an "Air Guitar" kit. I
laughed when I saw it and I couldn't help but wonder if the urban
legend on your site about it is true. The Dream Projector legend is
pretty interesting too. I went to the Dream Projector website and
signed up for their newsletter. I read about their offer to interpret
dreams and although I've started to record mine, I'm still a little
hesitant. There's something about them that I just don't quite trust.

Can't wait for the next update!

Dear David,

The best way to find information is probably to enter "mysterious hum"
into
your favorite search engine, as well as "subliminal audio". I believe
that's how I did most of my research on the topic.

Amanda Graves

Varin: Not sure if the urbanmythology site was updated today, but they have used your story and pic and name in the update!

Found something interesting...

http://subliminalrecorder.com/

if you type in subliminal audio into google, you get this as the first option in the list. It looks highly suspicious, but may be nothing. Something worth looking into perchance?

I asked about the 'rumors' and where Amanda had saw or heard them in conjunction with the reality tv show myth. I thought maybe we were missing her source..no go though.
