X-ray? Know any dentists or radiologists or anything? If you don't want to break it, I mean.

It's just that my RSS feed is getting clogged with this will-I-won't-I stuff.

Chuck's latest tweet mentioned ice cubes... would it be worth a shot seeing what happens if you get the CDF cold?

Not destructive, at least. =D

sorry for the double post, but i just noticed something else of interest on the dinosaur page. if looking at the volcano upside down, there are three distinct straight lines (supposedly to show contour). could these also be interpreted as three "paths"? the "lava" looks like a pointer or arrow indicating the path to the right, whatever that might be.

i wonder if we are supposed to overlay the volcano drawing on top of something else to indicate our path? might be nothing, but i thought this should be tossed out there at the very least. as it is, we got nuthin' again...

Crying or Very sad
I didn't think about it until rereading some of the other possibilities in this thread, but someone suggested one of Chuck's hints was to look at the page from a certain angle. Isn't that Chuck on P2, with lines from his eyes possibly indicating where/how to look? I don't have a printer to get a hard copy of this page with, but that seems like a good thing to check. And art that reveals a new image from a certain perspective certainly would cost something more than how it looks plainly, so the "Commissioned at great expense" might make more sense (if it wasn't just intended to be silly). Plus, "he turneth to enjoien the sighte of the pye" seems to indicate that you have to turn it to see something.

Possibly with a mirror on the other side of it, just to try two things at once.

That would be me, and I suggested we look at both the handbook AND the diary from various angles to see if any of the words/numbers/pictures can only be seen from a certain angle. Has anyone tried it? I haven't had time but if no one else does I'll try to do it tomorrow after my surgery (or Friday if I'm still out of it). Obviously it would be better if the keeper of the journal (Relia?) looked at the diary but there's no choice but to print the handbook. I also suggested at one point that stenography: http://www.securityfocus.com/infocus/1684 might be the answer. Did anyone give that a try?

That link takes me to a page on Steganography. Interestingly, page 3 in the Handbook features a pic of a Stegosaurus. I printed out page 3 and looked at various angles, but I have yet to see anything compelling.

Quote:
According to Dictionary.com, steganography (also known as "steg" or "stego") is "the art of writing in cipher, or in characters, which are not intelligible except to persons who have the key; cryptography" [2]. In computer terms, steganography has evolved into the practice of hiding a message within a larger one in such a way that others cannot discern the presence or contents of the hidden message[3]. In contemporary terms, steganography has evolved into a digital strategy of hiding a file in some form of multimedia, such as an image, an audio file (like a .wav or mp3) or even a video file.

The definition above, particularly #3, leads me to consider that something may be encoded in the TIMM video (or audio).

I have the journal. I've tried finding stuff hidden in it since the day we got it, including invisible ink and things tucked away inside of it but came up with nothing. I'm open to any and all ideas

Is there any evidence the book has ever been separated from the cover/binding and then reglued into place? Since the uh-oh was hidden within the CDF, it's possible they've stuck another cry of horror and dismay within the book binding.

"to the one with my book, please send the parts of my diary to the following address along with money for a new one.........(angry face)"

I've been doing a little digging into hiding files, and there seem to be a whole lot of different ways to do it. I downloaded something called Imagehide from http://www.dancemammal.com/imagehide.htm to see if anything looked interesting.

In M ARH, all of the pictures showed up in the software as 'Empty or Unknown format' and data was read from the image 'ok'.

This has one exception, but I don't know enough about what I am playing with to understand if it means anything, but ... the program gets an error when trying to read data from page 1.

I have attached screenshots of a page that did okay with the software and the different message I get with page 1.

Maybe there is something hidden here and I am just using the wrong method of trying to find it?

edit: sorry - this probably should have gone into the M ARH thread Embarassed
