Has anybody noticed any direct clues to what universe we're in? All I've seen is that there's a navy which has an Office of Naval Intelligence and some AIs, and the Navy may have a program that seems to be the one Melissa mentions the Castaway is in... And we have colonies on planets other than Earth. That's about all I can see -- a few tenuous connections to the ilb.com saga. And, interestingly, absolutely nothing to link today's stuff to Halo. SPEC Perhaps the ARG has forked off from the universes that inspired it?

Yay, another clip....

Unfortunately no, the Axon Files haven't yielded any direct clues to the universe yet. Lots of tenuous ones, sure, like you mentioned, but nothing concrete.

New clip just went live, Meditape. It's the piece where Kumal introduces the idea of ghosting to Date Girl, presumably it occurs shortly before Guilty, though they don't seem to be directly linked, I'm guessing the piece inbetween them is missing.

Wait, no I guess there is a direct connection: Dana mentions "The Covenant" on ILB.Blogspot, which is who Melissa (Durga?) was set to spy on.

A list?

I think I have a pretty good idea of the general flow of things, feel free to bite me if I'm wrong, I know I differ from others here

dizzy -> escape -> jersey -> reflected -> durga

Walkaway girl -> pqi -> stupid cop -> yes or no -> hey dad -> nervous

parasites -> eyes -> beer

much lifting -> our hoodlums -> meditape -> say something -> guilty -> message saved -> tuna

I figure it is Kamal (kumal? can't remember) in both the parasites thread and the hacker thread. What do you think?

Anybody else think that Durga sounds like Cortana?

"Message saved" is after everything we've seen, I think. After "date girl" has learned about ghosting, and after her date with Kamal, and after they've spied on Aidan (i.e. "Thanks for the Aidan stuff... I didn't think there'd be 30 hours...")

She has a very similar attitude and drive. She also seems to have Cortana's plethora of code-cracking software at her disposal. It's possible that all "smart" AI's have similar personalities, but it does seem extremely coincidental.

Maybe Dr. Halsey built Durga also.

The actual "voice" does sound different than Cortana's though, very similar, but still different.

Yeah, I was meaning to post about that but I've been busy rearranging the pieces trying to figure out the second blind date order of things (and the relevance thereof).

On a similar but useless note, did anybody watch the Halo 2 E3 demonstration? Does anybody else think that some of the voices sound like the guy (from Bungie, can't remember his name, but not Jay Allard) who did all the talking during the multiplayer presentation? Kumal sounds an awful lot like him.

Granted it's irrelevant if he did the voice, since that adds nothing to the story, I just found it amusing.

Well, either it's just the same voice actress for Cortana, which is kinda crap on someone's part, since that gives those of us hyperanalyzing all of this a headache, or it was intentional. Which also gives me a headache.

Though that might make some sense. Assuming the clips take place before the Covenant invasion, perhaps Melissa eventually becomes Cortana, possibly through a merge with another AI (Pious Flea?) or metamorphosis. Very Neuromancer, if that's the case. That might explain Cortana's uniqueness and the reason she's so important and good at hacking into the Covenant's network. Of course that could also brand her as untrustworthy.

Mmmm, speculation. Tasty.

I'm not too sure. The way it sounds, she doesn't even know who the girl involved is until after message saved.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Woman: Can you, can you ghost someone for me? I mean, I have a name.

Her name is Celine
Jefferson. Call me back. I'm, I'm sorry. Anyway just call me back. I really

need your
help.

Oh, and he's not playing back another arrest from that "valley girl" voice. That's definitely someone talking, because the "cop" replies directly to the voice, he says "uh huh" (In a kind of annoyed manner) after the girl says her little quip about the "old hag" I think she is just doing an impersonation/mockery kind of thing, but it still talks like the sleeping princess.

Neveth: Right... she's been seeking a name. Now she knows the name, and given the crying has probably seen them in flagrante delicto. But she had to get the tapes and hear about the ghosting beforehand... which necessitates the date with Kamal, Kamal's previous date, the ghosting conversation, and the spying conversations (guilty, tuna).

Crap guys, looks like we missed "pillow" as well.

Damn these holes will make it that much harder to figure all this out. I have a feeling it definitely won't tell us everything, but it will help more so than anything else before to piece together the next part of this story. It's just so frustrating knowing there are gonna be at least 6 missing pieces.

Somebody start hacking into those sound files!! Wink

Ummm. I am almost positive that "Hoodlums" goes after "much lifting". I cant seem to find a match with "meditape' anywhere because it sounds like they are in a converstion about Aiden not showing up for something. It doesnt seem to match at all. Oh well.

I do agree that "say something" goes before "guilty" though. This si the opposite of what bruces site says though and he wont get back until later to look at it again.
O well. I am gonna keep trying to figure out where meditape goes.

So far the best order I have for Kumal's Second Date is as follows:

Our Hoodlums -> Much Lifting -> Meditape -> ????? -> Say Something -> Guilty -> Message Saved -> Tuna

Just thought I'd throw this out for anyone who's a bit lost. Anybody have any disputes with this order?

OK law abiding definitely goes after "nervous". We dont know if it is right after or if it has another clip in between. This one is actually a very interesting clip. Jan and her father have something very serious to hide.

Unanswered questions?

A few unanswered questions which I'd like some others to help spec on:

1. What does it mean that James James is "grey?" His past has been erased, he has a new, false identity.

From the new wav. file "law_abiding" we have the quote, "There is some kinds of trouble we can't get im

emphasis not mine. Wink

Also, Jan beat the test, the test her father was so concerned about. Who or what is Jan?

-Ivy

Edited because my meaty italian sausage fingers mash the wrong keys a lot.
