Book tie-ins
Generic thread to discuss 39 Clues movies, board games, calendars, etc

I saw a press release from Jan. 30th. Looks like Scholastic has teamed with University Games for a 39 Clues board game, and a card game, "as well as puzzles."

http://mediaroom.scholastic.com/node/155

They "will include exclusive clue cards." Possibly some of the missing 400 series. In theory, they will hit the shelves at the same time as The Sword Thief in early March.

In addition, next summer Mead will market some 39 Clues themed Calendars, stationery, and journals. (I think I'll give Scholastic a 'C' for spelling. tsk tsk.)

I'm interested to see how good these products actually end up being. Hopefully they are well made games so that they're at least fun to play and not just trying to use the 39 Clues name to sell some merchandise.

I bet you they'll package in a clue some how just to get more people to buy it, and so they can get closer to having a plan for all 39.

That makes sense. Right now, the pattern seems to be that you get a clue from each of the ten books, a clue from each online mission which seems to be one mission per book (or two in the case of book 1) and a clue from each of the card packs. That is only 24 clues which means that there are 15 clues unaccounted for.

Makes sense if our dear friend Scholastic puts in clues in their merchandise to get people to buy them....

cool. I am soooo gonna buy most of them. Better start saving up! Very Happy

Anyway, I think Holyxion is right. Just to get people to buy games.

University Games has a flickr page.

This picture is from last October, but in addition to the standard 39 Clues cardboard display, they have one large game-sized box, 2 smaller boxes (does the right one say 3-D puzzle?) and 3 different small boxes (maybe new card games).

Maybe they are just mock-ups. It's possible the stuff University Games comes out with next month are nothing like this display from last October. Who knows.

University Games has the games pictured prominently on their website
http://www.ugames.com/
A 200 piece jigsaw puzzle, available now.
A board game, and a card game available "soon."

The cover of the card game definitely says "includes unique collectors card."

If anyone sees where the jigsaw puzzle is sold, let us know. I'm anxious to snag the 400 series card that's probably included.

They sell many of their games online at http://www.areyougame.com
but I haven't seen the jigsaw puzzle there.
