Hey there soggy, glad to see you on board! You look like you're having a great time! Yes, I do have a blog set up, it is a quasi OOG/IG board. http://socialoutsiders.wordpress.com/

No, I am not officially affiliated with JI or EPWA just trying to further the experience as much as possible.

As for the posts made by Uzi Reptoid... I have the strangest suspicion that this person is affiliated with EPWA in some sort, his icon on his blog

On the icon it flashes 1988 the year Eva went missing.

His demeanor fits with the idea of Nonchalance, and his rants somewhat match that of Commander 14 and the EPWA.

You can view his blog here: http://uzireptoid.blogspot.com/

Warning, next idea regards the finale of the "transcript" act:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
When you enter all of the information about the items you collected and get to the &_next screen on the EPWA BBS, the connection gets interrupted half way through. The screen then begins to flash a bunch of different colors. This somewhat resembles Uzi Reptoid's page/icon seen above. Does this mean that the connection is being interrupted BY uzi?

EDIT: You can now purchase the Sound of Ascension CD and the Official Transcript from EPWA just type &_support

uzi

well, he says himself that he is dinosaur riot, which is the name of a poster downloaded from the epwa website, which lists a po box in eugene or, which is also where uzi/dino/sean lives. (a quick uzi reptoid google gives his first name and a number of blogs he is involved in, includimg the "daily hitler")

But i was thinking opf someone ek\lse.
I'll pm you.

email from commander 14:

We're aware of the Reptoid,
and the Reptoid is rogue.

Certainly not in league with us.

Although.... not necessarily a jackonape.
He does seem to value the ideals of nonchalance.

But his insights will not serve our objectives.

[content omitted] I trust that you found the transcripts useful.

- KEEP ON -
C14 [EPWA]

When we pulled back the curtain at the beginning of this experience, I seem to remember "dinosaur riot" being the artist for the EPWA? His art on the site seems to look a lot like the art on the transcripts.

Oh well, guess he's just familiar with the JI and EPWA and putting in his two cents. Nothing else to see here, carry on.

I do like his art though.

Well, I'm sorry you feel that way. I know this is all about "following your own path" and figuring out everything for yourself. I'm just trying to spread the word and help people if they are lost.

I just dont want anyone to loose interest is all. There is a lot of work being put into this experience... I just dont want it to be for nothing.

WHEN I SAY ORNITHOPTER YOU SAY JUMPSUIT

ORNITHOPTER....JUMPSUIT
ORNITHOPTER....JUMPSUIT

haha. The dance-off is now online! On Sunday we were asked to head to 16th street BART station and answer a payphone.

Then this happened:
http://www.ornithopterjumpsuit.com/

Pretty much it was awesome.

GRAB YOUR TRANSCRIPT IN ANY ONE OF THE MANY STORES IN THE MISSION DISTRICT!

Check out &_radio on http://www.elsewherepublicworks.com for further information.

The transcript contains all of the info given to us on the EPWA radio broadcast. More or less, gives you all the info you need to finish this act.

Enir Paco,
CaptKing

EDIT: Pretty much the same post is on http://socialoutsiders.wordpress.com if you are interested.

Hoooooooooooly.

I like how CaptKing managed to walk a whole block and a half in two seconds through the maaaagic of editing! Very Happy

You know, I thought I had imagined the angelic voice singing when I was presented with the transcript. Whaaaaat? That's freakier than a call from Ms. Kat! Hot damn.

I gave poor Fourteen a hard time when he called me. "Is this 7-A-U?" "Well, it's pronounced 'seven-awe' but I guess it's been giving everyone difficulty lately." "That didn't come through. Can you repeat that?" "...Yes!" That's a hard-working man right there, big ups to Fourteen.

Fun fact: We each had a different passphrase. Mine was "garbage reversal."

Urban sasquatch

I caught up with the sasquatch when he passed me as I was pondering luchador masks at the end of the block across the street. He's a friendly sort of Forteana! (And alas, I've got a biggie skull, bigger than the masks, so my luchador career would not be started that day.)

I really wanted to stick around and meet everyone, but CaptKing was next after me, and though we caught up with Darlingville, CK wanted to go find [oh snippity-snip!] right after that because he couldn't come to the city that often. I was still up for adventure, so off we went. That's a whole other tale which I'll keep for a later date. Perhaps... well hey, I like the idea of a meet-n-greet. I was tinkering with that idea back around New Year's, but right before New Year's Eve, I got laid off. As a result, I had other things to focus on for a while... and then the EPWA roped me back in. Maybe we can swing something...

Anyone with a Hopeful, Encouraging Word?
still no coins

I've had the worst luck trying to obtain hobo coinage. I've tried locating several of the folks several times, only to be thwarted by timing and rain.

Any tips on optaining the little wooden doodads? Or just encouragement that y'all have had some luck (I know CaptKing and 7AU were lucky... anyone else).

Thanks,
-Tony

Jamming
Fun with multiple meanings. Or, it just dawned on me how we helped.

In regards to the just-released video:

Oy! I missed all of this on Sunday because I couldn't make out what Commander 14 was saying for much of the portion of the call below, but I just belatedly achieved comprehension.

From 14 on the phone, and emphasis mine:

Quote:
:: : ::: :: :: : ::: :: ::
Attention!
The green energy archons are thought to be affecting a Class 7 Penetration across the secret frontier. The closure of a temporal vacuole is imminent. Repeat: imminent! Without physical jamming to offset transneural interference, a negative loop cascade sequence could be initiated. Absolute concentration and elimination of lag time will determine the vector set by this operation concluding in Decryption Mode Chinchilla.
:: : ::: :: :: : ::: :: ::

And there definitely was jamming of the physical kind. Man, I'm glad we were able to offset transneural interference!

Btw, I don't think we mentioned it, but after the handoff, the phone rang again, and we heard the woman who recorded the EPWA hotline messages. She talked about the EPWA - all stuff one might've heard or read in other instances - and then... lots of baby chinchilla noises.

Oh man! I will tell you this much: as much as you might want to rush and find them, I don't have any evidence at this point in time that there is any other reason to hurry, other than your own desire. Enjoy the pursuit itself, and take what time you can to explore. I know I'm starting to sound like the BART Psychogeographical Association (with which I was aligned in a former era!), but for real, plot a course with the info you have and enjoy being a tourist in your own city. Smile (And you're right, CaptKing and I did get lucky. Hella lucky. But there was a toll. I'll tell you that story later and soon, but not here, because I want to respect the privacy of the man from whom we procured the loot.)

today versus tomorrow
Dirk Gentlys versus Bloodhound Gangs

So,... one of the things i really liked about the first act/part of the game was playing it with a group of people.
We had more succes as a team than we would have had individually, and it was a great experience to share.

But, while ARG'S are traditionally a group effort, i get the impression that was not what was intended with this arg.
There are no elements to be solved by those who aren't physically in the city, no puzzles to be unravelled or cipher to be broke. There just seems to be discovery, exploration and personal experiences to be had.

This combined with the backlash against the walkthroughs, (created I think under the impression that non-residents would be able to play and some way, and could use a guide to catch up) has given me the impression that team play wasn't an idea planned for in making this terrific game.

And so far it HAS been a terrific game.

I checked out a radio from abby's today (the lady at the counter had no idea what I was talking about, but luckily he rco-worker returned and hooked me up)

I had already purchased my "Transcript" but went to Delores park to hear the broadcast anyway.

I sat through the entire broadcast, irritating the drug dealers and horny teens there after dark, for an hour or so, until i was sure i had heard everythign and made sure there was nothing I would miss by only getting the "transcript"

Tomorrow morning I will go to procure my cd, and try to accomplish as many other steps as I can while in that neighborhood, but what I really want to do, is figure out which steps my non-arging, less than willing to dick around on the computer all day, lets do things in real life friends can getthe most enjoyment out of wihtout losing the narative.

I plan on taking a group along with me later in the week, some to be inducted and some on whatever i find to do wiht them in the second act.

It is my hope that come the final acts, the game will turn out to be built for team exploration as well as for the nosey loner types (like myself) who enjoy solo exploration and achievement.

The first act worked out nicely for a group, and has helped me interest allot of my friends and coperformers in the idea of args and real world gaming.

Hopefully the rest will be something we can share and discover together.

S.B.

Not connected to, but tangentially related to the narrative

I came across this article on SFGate.com today, about how San Francisco is considering cracking down on flash mob antics. That's only marginally important compared to a comment left on the article by someone going by scrivener50, about 10 pages in (or 5 if you're looking at 20 comments per page):

Quote:
GANG-STALKERS USE GPS 'FLASH-MOB' TACTICS... ...the nationwide GPS-enabled "community gang stalking" of U.S. citizens, who are hunted down like prey by citizen vigilante goons as the "target" vehicles with secreted GPS devices enter the "crown of evil" GPS screen grid of the gang-stalkers. Innocent but "targeted" U.S. citizens are harassed and allegedly tortured by these gang-stalkers, who hide behind federally-funded programs like Citizen Corps, Infragard and USA on Watch. This is a two-way technology; the SF police chief could use this data to prosecute these harassers, who stalk, tailgate, and otherwise menace their "targets," causing a daily safety hazard each time they "swarm the target." These gang-stalkers also are said to be equipped with silent microwave radiation weapons that they use to physically degrade and torture their "targets" -- with the apparent knowledge of those who provided the weaponry. This is a silent holocaust. For more -- http://My.NowPublic.com/scrivener

Whoa. Life imitates the art imitating life. Same guy wrote this article. Check out the "related stories" box in the sidebar of that page for more links.

wow Jay, that's a trip. After reading the comment I thought maybe it was IG, but I was pleasantly surprised. Ha, Life imitates the art imitating life indeed.

As for the Crackdown on flash mobs, that is such a shame. The first comment though really grinds my gears:
Quote:
These flashmobs are idiots. Notice how they can never get together for real political change. It's always for something trivial (and often consumerist) like some mass silent iPod dance, or "freeze-in-place" prank. Big deal. And all these pillows and feathers. Did they even think of the poor dead birds whose feathers are still used to cushion our stupid heads, while we get our rocks off in some pseudo-anarchic way by beating each other with pillows? They think they're liberated from the "man", yet they are just consumerist tools. Get a life, you "flash-mobbers"! You don't impress me. Organize against corporate America and do something serious. Probably the same people who go to Burning Man, another ridiculous event which makes Yuppies feel like they're doing something, until they go back to work for the Machine. Just drink and do drugs like me; it's more honest.

It's not about "disestablishment" its about fun and adventure. I can go on for hours, so I wont.

And soggy!

Glad to hear you're having a good time, that's what this is all about. Hopefully when the next act comes around we can all get together. [/spoiler]
