Picked up a couple of copies of the book yesterday. I have to say, I hope this is a success and continues to happen. The book contains more passwords to videos that I will not disclose quite yet in order to help the sales. The experience is really well done. The book is in a diary format and adds to the experience of giving you an insight to the spookyness of the place.

I hope I can catch the live webcast Friday. The author has gone into great lengths to blend the "reality" of the book/video into his research and I think the webcast will be both informative and an addition to the story arc.

The price of the book is not unreasonable at all. At $14.99 full price, I used my BN membership and a coupon to get it at the bookstore for 25% off. It is also available at Amazon for about $10.

So thumbs up for this one. And I'm cutting this post short before it rambles on into a full blown review. Wink

I thoroughly agree with you ndemeter. The whole thing was really well done imo. I have a feeling the webcast and the following months on the tube and SCIR.com will supply some content to the story arc (the Author has even stated in interviews that the action will be seen on the various support sites until book 2 comes out), so heres hoping Very Happy. To anyone else reading this, there is allot of content missing from the threads here hehe I mean allot. EX: Sentences/phrases written on girders and walls, scratched into floor boards & audio morse code in the various vids, shopping screen caps / pics, hidden text on support sites, multiple eggs on those sites etc.

All the stuff I posted on this forum and the SCIR forum was posted before the book was released, so I considered it fair game. But with that, I have stopped posting clues on these forums because I also do not want to mess with the book sales and experience. - hehe It was, and continues to be fun though. Well done!

The webcast is over. Saw Psysop and Chance there. I think we should go ahead and plug:

http://www.skeletoncreekfans.com

Now I hope that someone does scan and post the poster on here. After all, back in the day, it was a movie poster (AI) that made me completely fall in love with ARGs. So check it for clues guys! Smile

As mentioned, until September we have the sites to figure more stuff out. And I am already feeling the withdrawals. Wink

New Easter Eggs?

Some new easter eggs have appeared at SARAHFINCHER.COM. I didn't notice them in the last couple of days (I've been reading the book). Not sure if they are new, but I've not seen them mentioned in any of the ARG sites.

The Ice Cream video is gone, but the Dice video is still there. A few more have appeared. They are also FLV videos. They can easily be found with a mouse-over and clicking when the pointer changes, then clicking on the new image that appears.

They all seem to also be vintage video or commercials. One involves pizza, another with vampire bats, something with creepy masks, and another with potato chips.

Hi auroravampire, welcome to uF if this is your first time Very Happy! For the sake of clarity heres how it goes (last time I checked anyways heeheheh):
At sf.com there are different sets of eggs depending on what time you are mousing the screen. 3 sets in all. Explanation and eggs below (listed only the vid eggs):
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Egg set 1 from 12PM - 12 AM:
fasterthenlight, russianExperiment, coffee, dice, whattoeat (ice cream one)

Egg set 2 from 12AM - 12PM:
symptomskitchen (the freaky mask one), pizza, vampirebat, potatoechips

Egg set 3 (Setting clock to any hour with 42 mins):
effectShot_final.mp4

My scanner isn't big enough Crying or Very sad. But I went over HERE & compared my poster with that one. They are exactly the same except mine is signed. Note: I scoured the package, looked at my poster through a light, with a magnifyer, and checked both sides for marks. No dice on all counts Evil or Very Mad. I also shopped the one from the link and got nada off that. Argish side note: googled Pat's house from the return address. Nice pad Wink

I got your email Psysop. Thank you for the detail! That was more than I could ever ask for and I was wondering if you would be open to posting it here too for preservation purposes.

Too bad there was nothing further on the poster. I think we may not see anything else from this project until closer to September as the cast and creative team is closer to releasing anything. I will do a followup article at that time.

Re:

@ Psysop - Thanks for that, I suspected there was a timer of some sort, as I knew there was something involving the 42. I just hadn't seen those particular ones referenced before. Thanks for the confirmation and the schedule.
Btw, I'm not exactly new. I was here a lot during ilovebees, but I guess since I didn't have anything new to add to the discussion I'd never posted. I hadn't even noticed. Embarassed

More notes

I'm just getting started with Skeleton Creek. Here's a few more notes so far about sf.com and book references, for those keeping track...

The password "henryjames" no longer works at sarahfincher.com. The video described appears to be one available under a different password from the book. If anyone still has a copy of the henryjames one, can you compare?

Also the chart printout on Sarah's desk from the image, 04_sarahdeskFINALsmall.jpg, is also printed clearly in the book on page 126.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Very little explanation of its meaning is given in the text. Only the number in the title at the top (which cannot be seen from the above image), the gold symbol, and a vague connection to the library reference are explained clearly. At the least, it is probably a meeting schedule for the Crossbones, apparently a secret society in the town.

There's also an in-story alchemy symbol chart on page 157 of the book.

There are a total of nine videos and passwords sent from Sarah that are referenced in the book. All currently work. There are static flashes in all of them.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The phantom's face is clearly seen in the static in the final video, while Sarah and Ryan are meeting at the beginning. Not sure if anything is hidden in the other flashes.

The meaning of the video, effectShot_final.mp4, should also be clear after reading the book.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Probably a flash from the past showing the death of Old Joe Bush. Or perhaps, someone else?

@ndemeter:
I sent a mess out to Chance to see what he can add to what I wrote you. If he has more info, I will compile both and attach a doc up here for posterity Very Happy .

Yo aurora, first off I should be the one that is Embarassed! I didnt look at your join date Rolling Eyes. The henryjames password was taken off when the book was released (I think because the published passwords went live). With that stated, I looked at the ripped henryjames vid and it appears to be the same as the "other" passworded vid. From what I can tell, there aren't any diffs from a content perspective, but heres my note: HJ=.flv @ 40.3 MB. "other" pw=.mp4 @ 28.2 MB.
-Oh and thanks for the Ghost in the machine cover heads up!

Didn't notice that Psy didn't mention this earlier.

The thirteenth video of http://skeletoncreekisreal.com has morse code tappings toward the middle of it, the sounds start at about 5:27.

The lighter taps are dots and the heavier taps are dashes but it is hard to make out each dot and dash. Anyone want to give it a try?

Thanks for the Skeleton Creek Fans plug, by the way. =D

Videos are up on iTunes. May not have an ARG meaning, but it's nice to know.

Jeffrey Townsend v-cast notes
For the record

OK so the v-cast was on schedule and went live Monday Feb-23rd at 4:30 PM PST. It ended at exactly 5:00 PM PST. I have attached the txt file below

My note: I was at work, but I had the broadcast running on my other monitor the whole time. With that, there was like 20-30 people in there and as you all probably know, that type of interview can rapidly get confusing at the point where 30 questions are on the chat screen concurrently with spamming involved. Also: Please don't take my attachment as literal quotes heheheh allot was going on and this isn't exact, but the "feel" is correct Wink

NOTE: The next v-cast with actress Amber Larsen (Sarah Fincher) is scheduled for Monday March 9th at 4:30 PM PST!

The code is referenced and translated in the book.

Also related to Chance's post, there's a new video at Sarah's site: mobile_info.flv:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The window near the Submit button is now linked like the easter eggs, but flashes without a mouseover to draw attention. The new video is a short message from Sarah responding to Ryan's request to be able to view her videos via his cell phone (mobile version of the site) or iTunes (via podcast). And of course, she notes that he shouldn't let anyone see them. Subscribing to the podcast loads the 9 book-referenced videos into iTunes.

@Psysop - thanks for comparing the video and for the transcript! In a bit of a rush at the moment, but will make sure to read it today.[/quote]
