I've been thinking about the last letter code, and I don't think it's possible for it to be a cipher the way it's set up. I wonder if it is a more spacial thing - the relationship between the letters. I tried plotting them, but I don't really see a pattern. Maybe it will spark some ideas...[/img]

I received another email from shrecknet on March 6th:

Translation:

Flea's can jump 130 times higher than their own height. In human terms this is equal to a 6ft. Person jumping 780 ft. In the air???
It's true!

I wish... I'm 6'1 & my vertical jump sucks... What's w/ all these weird emails from the Dr.? Info's a little unrelated to the game, no?
Anyway, thanks for clearing up the confusion Jonah & Wulf - I realized afterward there was an error in posting... Sorry - too much leet! Wink

Heh - I suppose if there was a question in anyone's mind about the PM's keeping an eye on the forums - this pretty much clenches it. I also thought it interesting that Porter referred to this as a game. Everytime I've seen someone say that - its like a 4 letter word.*waves* Wink

Dunno if I'd call this an epiphany - but everything we've been seeing from Netchurch lately - is stressing the fact that there "is no password this time!". The PW they're referring to of course, is the one we had to solve to help Jonathan get into his computer the first time. And the last comment from the doc, says:
Quote:
there was no password solved this time around, and yet the story is is trying to proceed as if it had, causing a paradox. who knows what will…

So - this parallel universe is trying to duplicate exactly the other? And ignoring "minor" things like the password, so that the outcome is the same? How would this cause a paradox? If they are separate, alternate universes - they shouldn't ever collide..? Am I overlooking/missing something? I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts - because it should tell us how to react next, to avoid this paradox.

Lastly, I received a reply from Netchurch with a comment about "reply while you're still lucid" - heh - and the email I got back was about a woman at McDonalds. If anyone's interested i can post it.

P.S. When posting the 1337 emails - be sure to check the box "Disable HTML in this post" before you click "Submit" so that it will post the entire message, and display it correctly.

@Wulf - Uh, in rereading what I wrote, I may have fudged in the posting there... Netchurch's email ends at "It's true". The last of it is me... I'm 6'1 and I was refering to my earlier question about "rxor" in l337. I'm still new to how to correctly post, but I know what I did wrong... So sorry Embarassed *not Porter*

==EDIT==
It would help if I read everything a little closer as well, rather than skimming. I'm now part of the many, that understood what you were saying..

Saw shrecknet on aim, I threw a fun fact at him:

Quote:
"me: Did you know? Orangutans warn people to stay out of their territory by belching. It's true!"

He went idle with a coded away message, the same as one from before:

I don't think shrecknet likes me much. ^^

New post up!! Looks as though time is of the essence...
http://jonahnynla.wordpress.com/2009/03/10/beckett-1/

@yochanan - Oh my!! You figured out that one really quickly... pretty genius. Razz Please, if you wouldn't mind, could u explain how you decoded that? I would really like to know... Thank you!

I think we can all agree to rename "The Jew" to "The Code God" now. My RSS feeder popped up and told me there was a comment by yochanan before it told me there was a new post.. lol Nice job as usual.

It looks like you got it all, I don't think whatever the missing "XX" is, is anything of earth shattering relevance that will change the meaning of the message, but I could be wrong. I'm going to work on the code as well - so if you post the answer to how you solved it, please be sure to spoiler it.

[speculation]More answers, with more questions. We now know the relationship of Jonathan & Jonah, and even a possible motive based on the coded message. I've been wondering what Jonathan could've gotten out of killing Jonah, but perhaps it was just jealousy?
How does Sara keep figuring into this? At least we know a little of how she's tied to the 2 of them now.
Reintroducing Beckett again is interesting also. The fact that he seems cognizant that this has happened before would indicate to me, that we're not dealing with an alternate universe - but like someone mentioned earlier in that, until a specific goal/outcome is met - this scenario will keep repeating.
I wonder if Porter can get us in touch with Beckett - him being the historian and all. [/speculation]

All hail "The Code God"! We're not worthy, we're not worthy... Hahaha j/k Laughing Seriously though, you're not bad yourself. In fact all three of you (yochanan, jslice1001, & yourself) are quite good at these codes. Almost "too good"...
I tried for a couple of hours after he solved it and still couldn't wrap my brain around it. Maybe next time. Wink

I used Word's "Replace" command to perform this heavenly miracle.

Based on what was said in the posting, I knew that each combination of symbols represented a letter. It seemed that combos were separated by spaces, with words separated by dashes.

So I replaced each combo with a new letter. For example, I told it to replace ";;;" with " A ", "." with " B ", and so on. The spacing is a little tricky, but you get the hang of it when you start doing it.

That left me with the cipher text, and then I just switched around letters to get words that were likely. I knew that Sara and Jonah were likely words, and so I looked for those patterns. The very first word fit the "sara" pattern, so I started there, and that made it clear that the next word is "was". I just kept going from there, until it all came clear.

The missing word is important though, because if it is "by", it totally changes the meaning. And "by" makes sense, because I had two left over letters that weren't in the rest of the text, and B and Y are the only letters, since X and Z are unused. But that makes the "HAD" seem wrong. So I'm not sure exactly what the error is...

I've been looking at the structure of the sentence, and about the only thing I've been able to come up with that works, is to replace "had" with "was".
The problem with that is - there are several examples throughout the sentence that have "h" and "d" as the correct replacements.
Hopefully some of that made sense. But this is just speculation.

And how did we miss the code that Sara referenced? It seems I remember talking about it here in the forums, I remember even trying to figure it out based on a previous type of code, from the first go-around with Jonah/Jonathan. Strange.

I re-read the comment that was written by Nathan Hale... that's another way to read the sentence which I didn't initially see.. that her lover had murdered by his grandson, meaning that the grandson was the tool of murder the lover used to kill some third party. Maybe that's it?

We didn't miss the code Sara referenced - we did indeed talk about it. We just haven't solved it yet, and we're being taunted. I can't tell if the way the comment is written is a clue to the solution...

Grrr.. I've had just enough time to check in for updates lately, and that's it.
Hopefully tomorrow (or is it today already?), I'll try my hand at the unsolved code. I really think the original coded message from d
is related, if not the same cipher that was used. The solution yochanan found to it on page 9 was:
yochanan wrote:
Ok - here is the solution:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Change each letter to a number, and concatenate the pair. That number is the ascii code for each letter in the message. It spells out Warning:you are in danger.

@yochanan: I know I've seen a substitution/transposition cipher website, that allows you to do exactly what you were doing with Word, but with far less effort. I'll try and track it down again, post it here, and give it a shot myself.

One last thing, that has been nagging at me since Sara mentioned unsolved riddles. Remember when it pointed us to "the birthplace of the lamb"? It gave the coordinates that pointed us to that castle in Germany. But I can't figure out how that figures into all of this so far. It very specifically pointed us to that castle - but then nothing.

Idea

Special thanks go to Sara for kicking me in the butt. The code from 7 really is simple. Sort of.

I started looking at the message that came with the code. I counted the number of words, and lo and behold it was the same number as the number of letters between A and U. The code part is a guide, the first letter telling the order of the words, and the second letter to say which word to grab from the message sent with it. I'm pretty sure this is the right answer, but it makes very little sense to me past the first bit.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Was he cut off or is there one more thing I'm missing and they need to be rearranged a little more?

Nice job at the solve jslice! And be careful of taunting Sara, we've been warned about her, away from her several times Wink. She might just be able to convince a Nosferatu to tell her where you live - they seem to know an awful lot sometimes .. right Porter? *waves* Twisted Evil

Here I am again, just dropping in for a brief moment to check on the updates - back later.
