Looking at what I've highlighted, we pretty much said the same damn thing. I will give it a chance, but it's not hard to see the motivation behind this game is making money.

As for they gay statement, if this is a mature board, then people should realize that gay doesn't necessarily mean homosexual. I think my usage is fairly obvious, and any intelligent viewer would see that.

If you want to correct or lecture someone, please spend your time more wisely. Spend it on someone in need of it. Thanks.

Now that we're all done being hostile--if you want to argue the merits of the game, you might want to take the discussion to a VG board. Unfiction's for ARGs, and while this still may develop into one, it's not geared toward discussion of the merits or flaws of video games themselves.

ALSO, I noticed the poor redaction. Sort of pointless on most of it, though, since all it says underneath is "redacted." Razz

Any speculation on where this might go from here? GDC reveal, maybe?

I actually tried to nudge you gently earlier in this thread that your usage bugged me a little bit.

I'm not particularly fond of political correctness, but I do like to know where people are coming from, so that I feel more comfortable participating in a community with them. It's not clear to me exactly where you stand on the issue, but I can also say that I'm probably not fond of you getting sniffy and calling other people immature or unintelligent because they don't automatically grok the nuances of your speech (especially when you use a term that is *primarily* used to connote lameness/stupidity/disgust with homosexuality).

Anyway. Smile

:gives thread back to bioshock discussion:

There *is* a Console Games section to this forum, by the by! If this website sort of fizzles, or whatever, any of the more video game-related stuff going on with Bioshock can go there, no problem. There's a bunch of other games getting talked about over there, and I encourage people to continue posting about Halo 2 and 3, as a bunch of ye olde Beekeepers still come around to blow stuff up on XBoxLive pretty regularly.

You're style of writing comes off as being very pretentious, which bugs me a little bit. I just have one question; how old are you? Okay, my mistake, I have two questions. Would it have been better had I called the Big Sister stupid, retarded, or dumb? I'm very curious.

All righty folks. Let's try to keep the conversation civil and on topic which is in case is Bioshock 2.

In terms of the website if we have seen everything there is to see from this promotion this thread might be moved eventually to our video games area. It would be a wasted opportunity if you ask me but oh well...

Anyways, play on.

Xeno,
I am also not a huge fan of political correctness but "retarded" is probably not a terribly good term to use either... People who actually have mental disabilities generally take offense at the term. I'm physically disabled but I have many friends who have mental disabilities and I am heavily involved with the disability community in the United States. In other words, I know enough to know that word is very offensive.

Aha! This was my point; pretty much anything I would have used to describe it could have been potentially offensive to someone, somewhere. People will always find a reason to complain, no matter what you say or do. I'll say no more about the matter though.

Anyone have any ideas as to what will go in the middle of the map?

Somewhat deviating from the path, but has anyone read the new Game Informer? It's actually revived my interest and belief in this game.

Back to the topic at hand, I hope Rapture isn't the "X" in the middle...it'd be too easy, y'know? It makes sense, but I want something that's actually surprising.

Read a whole bunch of new stuff about this game on IGN... seems pretty cool.

Xeno,
Wow, no there are plenty of ways to express a negative opinion about an idea without being offensive. For example, if you would have stopped being so hard headed long enough to read my message more carefully and think about the implications of what I said (or in this case didn't say) you would have noticed that I didn't take any issue with you using the word 'stupid.' Even though I guess one could possibly make the argument (and I say 'could' because I assume that you weren't and I must on some level be misinterpreting what you said because I believe that you are smarter than that) at least in some context the usage of any word to describe something in a negative light as being offensive to someone somewhere, I would hope that you would intelligent enough to realize reasonability must be a factor. Obviously, some things are offensive enough (and accepted by society as offensive enough) that we choose not to repeat them for the sake of respecting others and the feelings and connotations those words (or more precisely adjectives) have. Nonetheless, if we are reasonable and at least semi-rational/semi-intelligent beings then it should be easy for us to see that this does not, in any way shape or form, mean that we cannot show our dislike or distaste for one or another thing in a polite and reasonably non-offensive way (in other words, not using words like 'gay,' 'retarded,' 'jiped,' etc...). Let's make an attempt at acting like the adults we are Xeno...
