Hey guys, I've been following this ARG for many months but I've never posted before. I originally found the link to This Is My Milwaukee on Reddit. I loved it because it was so damn absurd, so I had all my friends watch it. I thought the library thing was really cool. I waited for the countdown to be over to see what would happen, and I have to say, those YouTube videos of the meetup are just legendary, hilarious stuff. I'm disappointed that nothing ever came out of this ARG, because it's the first and only one that I've really paid any attention to. I agree with the theory that Synydyne was going to do a documentary on ARGs and ran out of funding or something like that. So, if we won't get any official closure on this thing, I think we should close it ourselves. In other words...

SMASH IT!

Thanks, guys, but if the ARG's going to fizzle out I'd just as soon NOT smash my swag for no good fucking reason.

If game progress was waiting on me to smash the statue, it seems pretty obvious to me they'd sooner be dropping giant fucking hints constantly about it than let the entire playerbase fall away because I wasn't doing something they wanted to happen.

Question...
is it metal?

If it's been cast in metal and chromed or whatever, I doubt there's anything inside. But I can't tell from photos, if it has a handmade appearance at all, like its been made from clay and spray painted or hand painted I may have something inside.

Just my take. But considering how little has happened and how painfully long it took to get here, screw them if there's something inside. Keep it as a symbol of an ARG gone nowhere.

They blew momentum and have given no indications where the game would lead. It's not even fun anymore.

It's molded plastic with a professional gloss golden lacquer, like a standard trophy. If you track back earlier in the thread, I linked at one point to a site which sells this trophy, among others. There was no indication that they offer you the option of making it a trophy-pinata with anything inside.

Relia, don't smash it. Keep it. People tell you to smash it so they can have closure, the game can move on, etc. etc.

Nonsense.

I've stopped following TIMM because it has been pretty obvious it died. Whether this was a student project that they gave up on or a production that lost funding, either way it's not moving. Even Chuck's Tweets don't have the same sound to them as they used to.

TIMM, wherever it may go from here, is not dependent upon your smashing the trophy for the game to continue. It would be pretty crummy planning for a game if it all hinged on a player smashing a piece of swag.

I'm just jealous I don't have the bird or the diary. Keep it for all of us who have nothing but the memories.

Just my two cents since this seems to be an ongoing debate (which is incredible because, um, TIMM is dead)...

Well I hate that its always me to do it, but I am going to contact the PM's OOG and ask wtf is going on and if we should all still be sitting here hoping and wishing that something is going to happen. I'd hate to find out that its actually 100% dead but it'd be better than not knowing anything and checking this site 1000x a day, haha. Everyone cool with that???

Go for it, what's it going to hurt at this point?

It would be pretty weird to have the entire game rest on one person's action, it's true. G'luck, Boston!

so, whats the scoop, boston? im tired of waiting too Wink

for other more experienced ARGers, has there been unexplained lulls of this type in other games? did they eventually pick back up? im trying to keep my hopes up but like nature, they are slowly withering away....

I've played one or two that dropped off for a month or two before roaring back to life. That doesn't necessarily mean that will happen with TIMM, but it's not unusual for a game to hit a lull either.

That's why I only check the TIMM threads periodically now. It will be evident if it comes back to life because all the sudden everyone on the boards will be posting in the TIMM threads.

No, no. Do it.

I will personally buy you another trophy with the same engraving off the same site you spoke of. It will accomplish all objectives, we will know if there was ever anything inside, and you will be able to keep your sentimental turkey. Deal?

I don't think there's anything inside it, I'm just frustrated.

All of us are frustrated. It seems nothing we can do will move this forward. The short burst of activity that surrounded the discovery of "uh-oh" before signaled in my mind that the turkey was key to progressing the game. If that spike (and now lull) in the game was only coincidental due to PM politics...my bad. I'm just trying to piece this together like everyone else.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Mars is a Cylon.

Of course there's nothing inside it. That's not the point. It's a magical thing.
