Has anyone tried to solve the first set of numbers with a *counter* clockwise "clock arithmetic" ?

I think because its cyclical those actually end up being some other positive numbers, but I'm not sure. At any rate, I tried the two most obvious ones -19 mod 28 and -23 mod 28 and got junk out of both of them Sad

I think I got it.

I wrote my own little program and found that if you use Mod 28 with an interval of 6, some values have multiple letters associated with them (as do others with different intervals). Anyway...I mention the interval of 6 because we get this:

16 = m
0 = a & o
18 = d
8 = u
10 = l & z
0 = a & o
18 = d & r
2 = f & t
20 = i & w
16 = m
24 = e & s
24 = e & s

Making the right choices, we can get Modular Times.

Modular Times Table Pattern -- have at it!

Ok, i'll start off.

What mod is it? We need to figure that out, and begin replacing the icons with numbers in the times table, so it would seem.

If you're not familiar with modular multiplication, you might want to begin here. http://www.cut-the-knot.com/blue/Modulo.shtml

This appears to be a small piece of the chart. We can use the applet link above to perhaps visually see just which part it is.

My spec is that the blank row and column could indicate the missing areas.

Jinx, Jinx, you owe me a coke....

We were just about to post on this....

Congrats... the puzzle isn't through, yet... but at least we're getting closer... we're working on the Modular Multiplication right now. We should have something soon...

The specific math concepts are going over my head tonight (I will re-read the link in the morning) but I did play around with the applet. It seems to max out at 35 x 35. However, everything I looked at had some form of immediatly noticable pattern, be it repeating numbers going across diagnols, or repeating series across rows. I can't seem to find anything along those lines in ANY portion of our grid.

That being said...I think this is the right place to be looking..just still can't grasp what we're lookin for.

I don't have the faintest clue what you all are into here, but I did notice that there are 5 sets of pairs running diagonally from upper left to lower right.

2 knights (looks like a chess piece), 2 spiders, 2 geckos, 2 unicorns, 2 fists

There is also a gecko two spaces away from the middle gecko on the left and right. (X = gecko)

OOOXOOO
XOOXOOX
OOOXOOO

Sorry if all this irrelevant, but modular multiplication tables are way beyond me, so I'm not exactly sure what we're looking for:)

Table spec involving modular multiplication

credits too numerous to mention, but including major themes from grumpyboy...

going on the assumption that the source code does in fact decode to "modular times table pattern" we create a mod23 multiplication table. you can see one here:

http://mopi.org/ctw/mythosphere.org/mod23.bmp

we are trying to determine if an overlay of the mod23 multiplication table over the full table gives is anything significant. you can find the image i made for this here:

http://mopi.org/ctw/mythosphere.org/tab1full-mod23.jpg

since the open cell at bottom right falls in a "1" square, we've tried to determine if the 1's are significant in some way, whether by their names, or some other means. you can find the "1" cells highlighted here:

http://mopi.org/ctw/mythosphere.org/tab1full-mod1s.jpg

at first my heart jumped when i saw the first three cells indicating "2 n lock" (to unlock?) but it sorta died after that, plus the "n" is really a rune called "uruz" Sad

obviously this is a string of somewhat tenuous logic but i figured i should post current spec since we're taking a while to figure this one out. if any of these images speak to you in any significant way, that'd be nice Smile

(edited cause i misspelled the name of the rune)

INFO: Mythosphere Grid Symbols as Numbers

Sorry I didn't share this earlier but this is first anyone asked.... being a newbie figured I was on the wrong track.... still may be, but want to save anyone else the drudgery Smile

Attached is file with symbols given a number and in () the number of times found in the grid and then table with the grid layout with those numbers instead of symbols.

UPDATED: Thanks for the proofing have updated counts AND fixed one symbol identifed wrong Rolling Eyes

maybe there's more to this pairs thing than there looks...[or just lack of sleep, you be the judge]...has anyone else noticed that for each symbol there is a common image to go along with it? for example there are two types of keys, two kinds of locks, two kinds of trees, crosses, dragons, unicorns, insects, hands, eyes, snakes...etc...you get the picture....

Cheers ~H~

Yes, two types of keyes, but actually three types of locks. Puzzling...

kimer,

The number of symbols in you doc total up to 481 only. If my math is correct there should be (22 x 22) - 1 = 483 symbols (havent had time to figure out where the mistake is though). But other than that, it was exactly what I was looking for in chat earlier. Thanks.

Kimer, thank you for all of that hard work. There are several mistakes in your counts however. Here is a count calculated directly from the numerical matrix you posted. This assumes that the numerical substitutions are all correct. Hope this helps.

INFO: Thanks for Proofing

Thanks for proofing... I was going a bit blind.... I updated the file per Mottjr's counts and reattached to original post.

I am sure this is a little oversimplified but the first thig I saw when I looked at this site, http://mopi.org/ctw/mythosphere.org/mod23.bmp was an eye. The double digit numbers against the single digit numbers give an overall shape of an eye similar to the ones shown in the grid. Does anyone else see it.
