Okay... great. Now what? We have the bullseye, the magnet thingy and a bunch of balls. We know it's the title of something.

5 black rings / 4 black tiles / 5 black dots
4 white rings / 3 white tiles / 4 white dots

The rings enclose an blank space,
The tiles are open to the left,
and the dots are filled in.

...and that is about as much as my brain can process... I can't think of anything I know of that would make it a "?title-" for anything...

I find it intriguing that the word title has those two italics in it. That can't be just a result of wanting to make it obscure, can it?

Technically "it" was a title of a book itself, right?
http://www.eyeamhere.com/CTS/crackthesafe.asp?title=it
didn't lead anywhere (could be because it's too early...)

Anyways..
I think the right hand side of the image is made of discs rather than spheres (like the pieces used in draughts/checkers or go).
Right now I;'m thinking that the sequence of black and whites might be the important part...

5 B rings + 4 W rings
4 B swuares + 3 W squares
5 B discs + 4 W discs

there's always one more black (thing) than white... natural, since the colors alternate in each image, but it might be important that it's *always* black to be on top.

Talking about numbers, starting with rings, brings to mind

"Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,/Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,/One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie./One Ring to rule them all,
One Ring to find them,/One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie."

but the numbers don't seem to match (heck if we had 3 black rings, 7 white rings, 9 black squares, maybe the connection would be stronger - but we have 25 total things, and there's only 20 tings in LotR) :/

I don't see how a virus is related to Othello, but the puzzle pieces remind me of the game pieces. Smile

it's a stretch, a huge one in fact... But if those are othello pieces, rather than say go pieces or dots... and othello is shakespear, which sort of makes sense with the book referances and "title"...

Then, maybe the other two are book referances as well... could it be possible to (if we had 3 book titles or something) get 1 word (or title) out of the whole thing?

like how "it" is a word inside "title" ?

The numbers of colors might have something to do with something like that too... But, now I am just confusing myself.

just had a quick look at this while i was waiting for developments on another thread, and had the following thoughts on yr title...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
the divine comedy: dante. the work is made up of three books, hell, purgatory, and paradise. hell is structured around 9 circles, purgatory 7 terraces, and heaven 9 spheres - which seems to match yr three pics.

apologies if this doesn't fit, or if i have posted anything that others have already said,

andy

Andy, thank you! It is EXTREMELY relevant, as one of our protagonists is named Dante.

Yes, that idea seems to fit very well.

BTW. The first hit on a google search for "9 circles 9 spheres" is immediately a link to the same reference.
