Hey briareosH, where did you come up with that business card? I have yet to see one of those lying around.

This is ridiculously short notice
but:

I'm taking some friends to Dolores Park tomorroooooooh geez it's past midnight, make that today, Tuesday the 24th, at 1:30pm. If anyone's in the area and wants to drop by and say hello, look for us up at the top of the park with a radio at the top of the dial. I may or may not be packing my purple ukulele. While I've used it as a Jason-7audentifier in the past, I'm not the one making noise in this portion of our tale!

Nothing new to report from today's meanderings

except that:

1) I broke the neck of my ukulele. Sad On the upside, it kind of has a built-in whammy-bar effect to it now, if you can swing with it being out of tune.

2) One of my friends lives where Oswin used to, or is/was his close neighbor.

3) We ran into one merchant of marvels who was TOTALLY INTO IT. I sat back and watched my friends be sly about what they needed, and he responded in kind. I dare say that the entire exchange was HOT.

Meanwhile, buttons are critics, infiltrators will get this:

Chow Mein.

That buttonphrase came from some good-natured snarking my friend and I were dropping on our original visit to JI ... unfortunately he had to move to LA, the skunk.

Unrelated: Nearly Bunny TV on Cat Shit One.

"We ran into one merchant of marvels who was TOTALLY INTO IT" -- this is awesome. We had a similar experience that I will share with you folks F2F.

Re: Chow Mein.

So,
Does anyone know who "Drybones" is?
Is he one of us, or one of them, or one of pretending to be one of them, or part of some otherworldly fourth group I can't concieve of.

I ran into him promoting the JI/Nonchalance Events to visitors form the the GDC at the moscone center.

He had safe zones drawn on the sidewalk with chalk, and enter my info into his wrist mounted database. He also gave me a card stock flyer I hadn't seen anywhere ebfore, with a kind of nonchalance greatest hits on it. I'll try and get a pic of it and put it on flickr.

So is he a Savant, has anyone read mention of him, is he a player promoting the arg, a puppet master, or a visitor from elsewhere?

I guessed somewhere between promoting player and PM.
Anyoen have better info?

SB

Man, I'm so going to miss being funemployed and being able to go where the action is whenever it goes down. Alas, this period is drawing to a close.

I just met your man, SB. I got the impression he's there to raise awareness of the struggle. There was another guy across the street handing out Jejune Institute flyers and Our Agent sent me over to retrieve one. I did so, returned via indirect path and I got hooked up with something with which C14 can contact me. I have to keep the parts together, I'm told, otherwise it won't work.

Come in, Commander!

I, too, got to meet mr. Drybones today. After reading your note, and since I work 1 block away, took a 10 minute break and ran out there.

I hailed Mr. Drybones by holding up my hobo glyph from across the sidewalk while he was spying across the street. He sent me on a slightly more complex task. The Man in Brown, across the street, from the Jejune Institute, was making something, and Drybones wanted to know what he was making, plus if he had any white rocks I was to steal some.

The man in brown was working with a flowerpot that contained a cactus, a little led light gizmo, and a large tooth, saying that the Jejunes were doing experiments with the teeth of nonchalants. While talking to him I bravely yet clumsily palmed a white rock out of the pot. Either he didn't mind or didn't see (can't see how he wouldn't have), but I was able to leave the man in brown unmolested, white rock in hand.

Drybones seemed pleased with the rock, and disturbed by the idea that the Jejunes would be experimenting on nonchalant teeth and said "I'll have to notify Commander 14!!" and then reached into his tattered suitcase and pulled out my own device like 7AUs!

What an awesome way to spend a 10 minute break!

Rocks!

....

I think I performed the wrong mission! I must've gotten it jumbled crossing the street. I think I was supposed to get rocks. Ack.

......SUCCESS ANYWAY!

Well that's troubling. No good at all.

Smooooooooooooooooth!

Later on I ran into Drybones on Market Street. He was setting up a device to block microwave harassment waves. We chatted a bit, he asked about if I had retrieved certain items... you know the ones. During this, another guy came up and asked me about how I would go about fixing the clock bolted on the corner of the building we were near (the Old Navy story, if you know the area). I wasn't sure exactly what he was on about, but I went with it. Eventually he clarified that it was working, but it hadn't been changed during Daylight Savings Time, and he had been trying to get Old Navy to fix it. We went back and forth about it, and at one point, he said that all they had to do was cut the power for 11 hours. I could not fault his logic. He then said I should buy his book. Which he hasn't finished, but it'll be good. Then he went to buy headphones. I think he was missing a tooth, just saying.

Then this other guy was setting up and started playing music by using chopsticks to bang on different bowls, making different notes, and then I SWEAR TO THADDEUS he started playing a leafblower or something like it was a guitar. I'm not sure how he had it wired up to do this but it was amazing. I cannot explain it.

Best street corner in SF at that moment. Inarguably.

I don't know whether this is useful to you guys, or whether it's just old news - forgive me if so.

I came across a flyer (on a booze and doughnut run to Safeway) that's not one of the ones pictured at the Despoiler wiki. It was dark and my phone camera just wasn't up to it, but it's on the lamp-post on the Caltrain side of the road opposite the safeway entrance, 4th and King. I can take pics tomorrow and upload if that's useful Smile If not - I was never here Wink

This has been kind of a weird thread here on UF, seeing as those participating in this game/story/artwork/whatsis have come to an understanding that giving away everything ruins the experience for newcomers. This is important because, unlike most other ARGs I've seen, everything persists... which is to say that anyone can jump in an experience everything at any time. Therefore we're trying to be encouraging without giving it all away. But fliers are fair game, post it post it post it! Very Happy DO IT DO IT DO IT.

sort of new

Hiya.
Okay. I've been all wrapped up in this game for just under a month now, and sped through it all pretty quickly. It's all been good fun. Found this forum, thought I'd jump in. Even though I have nothing of any real import to say.

Anyway. I went out looking for Drybones today, sort of looping through the Financial District and soma, to no avail. I did see staggering numbers of teenagers (At least twenty... Jeez.) wandering around, clutching instructions in sweaty hands, looking confused, which made me smile.

That's all. Nice to meet y'all!

Rubyshoe! Great having you aboard. Welcome!

I wanted to mention to folks that I dropped by the kiosk on 16th and Valencia yesterday where Hip-Hop Shoe Repair is supposed to be... and it wasn't there. Well, there was a Newsstand Kiosk there, but it had been recently painted the same green as the various electrical boxes throughout the city, with no sign of Tre or Cornelius anywhere. Just green and one small unrelated tag of graphiti.

This means 1 of 2 things, that the city just painted over everything, or that the Jejune's got to them and now it is a new center for microwave harassment.

Hey all, I haven't read the thread (also, I'm not sure I have the time to play right now) but I have relevant information! There was a guy outside the Game Developer's Conference all last week wearing extraordinarily bright green/pink/purple clothes generally ranting and raving all week long.

It wasn't until Friday that I heard the phrase "Jejune Institute" in the middle of his speech, and I knew I'd seen that here. So I stopped and asked him what he was talking about, and he gave me a "pamphlet" for the Elsewhere Public Works Agency with what looks like further ravings on it. It's got the radio station, some emails, three phone numbers, etc on it, so you might still find it useful.

If you guys don't have it already, I can scan it and post it up toight.
