Cleveland Spots

Like Kaziel, I was up late planning maps, and I'd scouted points 1 & 6 for Ohio the night before. That's 6:11 and 14:32, PDT, btw.

Hit the road early as we could for 6:11, got there 2 minutes early, but decided to have a looksee around the Arabica coffee where the phone was, I was figuring I'd hear an indoor phone ring if it existed, since I was just outside the door, but perhaps the two folks we ran into were waiting right there to get it. Anyway, sysdsgsfsasd and "Austin" were there, making calls and 802.11b'ing their info to everyone else. Exchanged info w/ A to be my 'operator' at future sites, and headed off to 6:59 and 7:55, at Kent State University.

Missed 6:59 due to the difficulty of getting near 6:11, but later met up with a crowd who were there for it. Said they botched it. 7:55 was in the KSU Student Center. 3 Floors, 6 phones on ground level, and at least 4 more above. The crowd was on one bank of phones on the ground level, so I hung out by the other and waited. Their side rang. Went over to see what was going on, and sorta watched someone listen and try to record the message. He 'repeat'ed once or twice, but it didn't get passed around. He tried playing the recording for folks, and we took off.

Considered going to 9:56, but for a variety of reasons ended up stopping there. It'd've been a trek from that to 13:08, and not only was 14:32 in the same place nearabouts as 6:11, but still difficult to drive to, and I thought David S. might get there anyway.

However:
In the event that the axons keep on trying to light up for a few days until they actually do, I'm moving to Connecticut this weekend, and I should be there Friday or Saturday. If 7:19 (Hey Solider) is still needed by then, I'm almost certain I know the exact spot it refers to, as I collected the numbers of all the payphones in this shopping center for a game I was setting up last year. It would appear to be in the North Haven National Amusement movie theater/parking lot, if anyone else is around or curious.

too bad...

I must say that I'm quite impressed with the teamwork you guys (and girls) have shown so far. Too bad we Canadians can't join in the fun, eh? Ah well, good luck, and I hope you get the remaining axons tomorrow.

no love for bees, apparently

I went to the 13:39PDT spot in NYC by Washington Sq Park. (Greene between W4th & Washington Pl). A good number of people showed up, but we were unable to convince this random mean guy to get off of the phone, so no connection was made. It was very anti-climactic. :/

Report from the Anaheim, CA location. literally across the street from the Disney resort...

Got in an hour early, met 2 Unfictioners, one being a lurker. Electrospekter, glad to meet ya, Yanklatage WHERE THE HECK WERE YA?? ended up with about 16 total, the rest being Hsalo types. One was a Beastie boy, so we chit chatted on that for a while. He elected for takingh the main phone, the other 2 with other members.

All for naught. while the phones were tested previously, no ring, no call at all. sigh.

At least Emergency got activates, so WAY TO GO for the other locales that did it! thanks, guys!

And at work, I now have the nickname of nerdfest, which I'm not sure is an improvement over the land whore (because of me working on purchasing a 40 acre farm, wont go for any less land! Smile....

All in all, great fun. Hassid, wrelcome, and anyone else who decided to jump in. its all a good time out here...

16:23 PDT

GPS was on the money. Arrived at 44th Street and Camelback in Phoenix, AZ at 4:00 and met up with 3 other fellows, we found a bar with the exact address 5101 N 44th Street. 4:23 on time the phone inside the bar rang. I video taped the event. Operator/ Pillow. Apperntly we were the only one's that had success. Pillow people, droped the ball. 2 people showed up 1 in all black and the other in army green. One had what almost appeared to be a real gun straped to his leg. Both had head pieces and cliamed to be in contact with someone whom they would not disclose. But they stated the AXON WAS HOT. We followed them back to their car where they discoved they had locked their keys in. AAA came and jimmyed the door. The 2 guys played a CD that contained the audio files in order. Some of which I had not heard online. I have all audio files except blip, you_know, you_could, and pillow. Pillow may however surface in text as we did pick up the line and the fellow who activated it may remember the conversation.

tomorrow in DC

Wow Kaziel, you (and aliendial) had a very busy day! Successful too. The 6:23 EST call rang at the payphone bank inside the new Georgetown theater on K street (second phone from the left, including the "short" one). Work schedule permitting, I'm going to try for more tomorrow:
12:14 EST (Church Street between 14th and 15th)
4:14 EST (F Street between 4th and 5th)
4:53 EST (behind that big waterfountain plaza in Georgetown on the water below K Street).

Nice work, Bruz. I'm surprised at the work a lot of you guys are putting into this. I generally am quite critical of everything American, but not this time. I'm impressed. I'd join in and help you guys if I wasn't on the other side of the world in the middle of the desert. Instead, I'll have a couple of beers at the local for you guys tonight.

If you need us international people to do anything, just let us know.

Yeah, us Colorado people are a little sad about that. We had three Pillow sites, and were pretty sure we were going to be able to get at least two of them.

I was part of the team looking for the 16:35 PDT site. Unfortunately the coordinates were located in a residential neighborhood. After canvassing the area, the closest phones we could located were several blocks away. The phone at Southern Hills Middle School was busted. The one at the South Boulder Rec Center was monitored but didn't ring. Unless the GPS coords for that one change we'll probably write this Axon off as a dud.

Hopefully our other folks can get the two other pillow sites Wednesday.

Lurker here. Smile Been sorta following along, and noted that the Pillow AXON hasn't gone hot for 16:19 PDT (40.155497 -105.102629), so I figure I just may head out there Wednesday, as the Longmont, CO locations just a few blocks from me

San Francisco experience

I was watching the events unfold from work all day in Oakland, but worked it out where I could sneak out of work early and get to the 17:03 and the 18:03 calls in San Francisco. There was NO WAY I was going to be able to get from the 17:03 to the 17:11 which, during rush-hour SF traffic is a 15-20 minute trek, so I opted for the law_abiding and emergency sites.

I just kind of hung back at both locations and trusted the activation to more adept hands (voices in this case). The 'repeat' function did not seem to work, so I never actually got to listen to the calls, and had already heard the 'i love bees' mantra from a wav earlier in the day, so declined to listen to that.

There were many more people at the 18:03 than the 17:03. I went to the latter with the singer in my band, we're both big Halo fans.

I'm curious how many folks on this board were at these points. I was the guy with all the tattoos.

chappy, someone posted last night that they could not find the one on Church St., so leave yourself some time to explore properly.

The other two weren't tried yesterday. The one on F St. is the National Building Museum - lovely building, multiple entrances. Not sure where there are pay phones, so best of luck there. If Kaziel is enough recovered, maybe he'll help.

I'm going to try for the morning one in Dale City. The guys who tried the morning ones at the Museum of Natural History hopefully will go back and try for some inside phones. Depending on work I might be able to hit an afternoon one in DC. I kinda want to remedy that one at the Arts&Industries building.

Road trip! I called road trip!

Roomie and I are leaving for the 8:19 PDT coordinate now, in Dale City. We'll get some lunch in town there and then try and catch the 13:50PDT Dale City point. Leaving plenty early to do some scouting at the sites. Wish us luck! We'll bring some lap tops and hopefully post if we can find a wi-fi node.

6:11 "blip" site just went hot, so it looks like we really do get second chances today.
