What about that +HE BOX=HELL thing? We used word "HELL" to get one of the audio files, but what about the "+HE" part? Could there be any connection to a "bable re-search"? (I mean those plus and minus parts...)

Barcodes.

Has anyone tried deciphering the bar codes that keep showing up? There appear to be bar codes under each of the Higgs, Brout and Englert icons in the video as well.

The radio broadcast in the bus with the new version of the video http://babel-research.eu/witb/stream/ (with character audio track) seems to be the same as the voice over in news.flv at http://www.whatsinthebox.nl/.

Also, I'm not sure if it is available elsewhere but it appears to be the same as the news.flv and the ticker at the bottom of the CBI HUD. http://babel-research.eu/images/bar.gif

TheBruce - I'm thinking it's probably more like Tango "Ninety" November, which would be T90N (phonetic alphabet.) No idea as to what that is yet though.

I'm still not convinced... "ine" vs "ank" is a very different sound. I've been playing it over and over again, and I could get on board with 'ninety' if the audio quality was low enough just on the consonant to make the "t" sound like a soft K, and audio compression accounting for the long "i" intonation rather than a long "a"...

maybe we should check the video for any T-something-N references... Razz

See, maybe it's just my ears but I don't hear "ank" at all. =/ Ran it through a couple of filters on audacity (which we have at my work apparently Smile ) including slowing it down and reduced the noise slightly and I'm convinced it's "90".

Well I'll leave it as an uncertainty, and hopefully we'll see another reference asap Smile I'll happily be shown wrong - 'thank you november' doesn't make much sense at the moment (but then, neither does much else =P)

OT: wow I'm going to have to rework the article - it's at just over a 1MB download, all inclusive, with lots of traffic...

If anyone's interested here's the half life saga time line.

http://members.shaw.ca/halflifestory/timeline.htm

Not sure if it's canon but it does make reference to "A huge population shift occurs as people move into the cities, protected by soldiers and barbed wire fences, to escape the monsters." But the dates don't match up but the author decided to be conservative so it may be close to the dates we're dealing with here.

Edit:The female voice in audio clips is the combine over watch coordinator.

It took me putting that one word on a loop in audacity - but I did hear the "thank you" but it seemed to jump between sounding like "ninety" and "thank you." >.<
Bleh.

The news from the ticker might "real" from october 2008:
- museum ship: http://www.silive.com/news/index.ssf/2008/10/museum_ship_intrepid_back_at_m.html
- us soldier: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3604559,00.html
- NASDAQ: don't ask me Wink
- Tenacious D: rather not real...

The woman actually says :
(dig.fem) Tango - Yankee - November located within quarantine zone. // We have a 14-Juno situation. // Local protection team report back.

Where Tango - Yankee - November correspond to the NATO Alphabet and thus mean T Y N. (Whatever meaning that might have...)

It's the phonetic alphabet. Tango Yankee can stand for "thank you." The same way Whiskey Tango can stand for "white trash." Although there are some rather unusual usages bravo zulu which means "well done."
