I'm not sure now, but did anyone notice, that there is another backworded conversation at the end of the "news" video? I'm not able to analyze it, but maybe someone else could...

Here's the text parts I got from the ticker feed in the news videos. The ticker feed is the same on both of the news channels shown. There is some financial information too, about various stock markets, but I have not included that, only the 'regular' news text:

-TENACIOUS D RULES CONGRESS
-U.S. SOLDIER PLEADS GUILTY IN IRAQ KILLINGS
-HUNDREDS FOUND IN POOR CONDITIONS DURING KENNEL RAID
-MUSEUM SHIP INTREPID HEADS BACK TO MANHATTAN PIER

Been looking at the middle line of the anti picture.

While it is clearly been (deliberately) "smudged" at points it sorta looks like a strip of land/mountains/water (maybe from a satellite pic):

. . . . .

Its a bit of a wild guess. But if it is a landstrip then the arrows point to locations on earth (or mars?). Not sure. Could be something else.

edit: added non-inverted pic.

map line, 62 long?

Might the "landscape stripe" be a possible image of the "62 long" from the audio file? possibly it's a satellite image along 62 deg longitude? I think the Faroe islands correspond to that.

scratch faroe islands

Scratch the faroe islands. +62 longitude roughly corresponds to an area east of the caspian sea. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=35.164229,+62&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=39.184175,81.474609&ie=UTF8&ll=40.446947,64.072266&spn=18.837545,40.737305&t=h&z=5

According to http://www.worldatlas.com/aatlas/ctycodes.htm the country code for turkemistan is TM, which falls on the 62 line.

I've got to finish a paper, but someone should do the legwork and see if the image lines up with the satellite image of the area around turkmenistan.

It is entirely possible that this is a misleading coincidence.

Maybe a lead for the piece of map but good luck for retrieve it ^^

I think we're all stuck at this point, maybe we have to wait for "hints" of the creator Smile

BTW, the remote access point (59462) says that "use a remote of remote accesspoint.". I think we should digg to log into the babel-research's FTP, it ask a password...(ftp://babel-research.eu/)

In that case we need to have the password. We have already the username: 59462

If you don't enter anything and just press escape - it does come up with a message:

"530 Please tell me who you are"

In the IRC channel, iFaux made an interesting discovery :

http://www.whatsinthebox.nl/anti.css
http://www.whatsinthebox.nl/pro.css

Those two files aren't used in any html pages, so maybe there are still some files we haven't found yet...

I'd like to point out to "saga"/"noevilsagasliveon" once again - there were several clues leading there (hidden in an image, box on witb, sourcecode when retrieving X.mp3), but I don't think it has been used until now?
So either it's just a distraction, or a missing piece.

For the FTP, I think showing the login-box when trying to access ftp.babel-research.eu is the standard behaviour of a lot of webservers when you query them via FTP.

I guess that the login box on babel-research might hold some further answers, if we question it the right way... or I'm wrong and the current answer "try a remote login" really means the ftp :-/

Do you remember the text box on whatsinthebox.nl which appears after pressing the bottom part of the ring?
please = ”who are you, Dennis Nedry?“
