THAT is very interesting. I just spend the last 20 mins doing some reading on the Mason - Mormon link and Brigham Young.

How it ties in to everything, I don't know, but it looks quite plausible.

Also, if it's a tie-in to Dan Brown's new book, I bet this gets real big. It would explain the quality of writing on the blog.

Yes, I'm definitely kicking myself for leaving work an hour early. I got an email back from Port -gimme a bit to catch up on everything, and I'll post whatever I think might help.

First thing I want to mention though, is I actually read an article the other day concerning Brown's new book. Living in Utah, there's obviously been a fair amount of discussion about his next rumored project, especially concerning the content. You wouldn't believe the stink the Da Vinci Code made here. Awesome book that it was.

Anyway - the article I read about the book, apparently according to Brown's agent, the book isn't finished, the title isn't set, and quite possibly still "under construction". I'll see if I can't find that while I'm at it as well.

Curious to see this new email from Port. He has not updated his blog since the sudden interruption by the 'Feds'.

ARG + ADD = bad.

Ok - I think I'm caught up - and really only 2 comments:
1) @Sytactic In regards to the posting of the email, where it didn't post all of it - you're correct. I did post the entire thing, but I clicked the box that said "Disable HTML", so the entire message was displayed Smile

2) Nice freakin job breakin that code guys. Awesome job!

Ok - the emails. The one I got from him, and my most recent reply:

Quote:
Wülf,

This thing is just not going away is it?

I still know nothing of this DeMolay and in light of all of the other contacts I don't know if I can really make a connection. The messages to my secretary have all been just first names and callback numbers...she says from different people in different area codes. Some men and some women. All asking about Jenny or my daughter or somebody named Star. I don't call back.

No packages.

And yes...she's still here. Watching me type this e-mail.

--Port (apparently destined for greatness)

My reply
Quote:
Port -

Sorry man, I'm afraid it's not going away. I know that one of my friends has emailed you a few times with some questions, know that he's not a reporter, and trying to help as well.

We have reason to believe that you may be in danger. Apparently the email sent to you, that was supposedly from me, contained the first part of a code that my friends were able to break. Combined with some other information - it pointed to a time and place in Santa Rosa, CA near a cemetery. We're afraid that whomever this DeMolay guy really is, killed this Maury Kelvin at that time, as we received an email from Molay using Kelvins email. The email stated that we would see him again, maybe in Oklahoma, maybe in New Jersey!

Can you tell me anymore about the visit from the people that came to your apartment? Who did they say is still alive? More importantly, are you ok?

Let me know if any of the information that I've sent you means anything to you. I think the more open you are with me about what's going on - the more I'll be able to help you.

One last thing - we think we have stumbled across an address - but we're not sure of any relevance. 1407 Oakhurst Avenue, but we're not sure of the City or State.

I hope you're well...

Wulf

I tried to cover everything since I left work with Port - let me know if I missed anything.

Looks like you have it all covered. I guess we add Star to our character list. Maybe that's the person in Oklahoma. Also, the phone numbers in to the secretary thing; it makes me think there's another trailhead or community investigating a totally different set of clues, and they were given a phone# rather than an email. Probably not, most likely not, but not sure how else to account for it.

I'll be interested to see what his reply is. Port is being helpful now, at least to you, so hopefully he passes on some information. From what I can tell this far, Port is serving as a backbone to the story, yet our clues are coming from DeMoray. It's proving a little frustrating because we have no continuous stream of trails to follow. Very back and forth this game is. Everything depends on the right questions, I guess.

/following you on twitter now, wulf

Hey, everybody - I've been lurking around UF for awhile because of a peripheral interest in CF (but never enough interest to get involved in any way). But this thing actually piqued my interest because of some literary and just generally symbolic resonances here. Since we're on page 8, I might as well speculate. More or less starting from the top of p1.

"Jack de Molay", as noted, is a ref to Jacques de Molay, 23rd & last grand master of the Knights Templar. Perhaps notable: legend is that de Molay's last act was to curse the French king & his descendants. Also, Order of DeMolay is the Masonic youth organization.

JDM's initial emails to Kelvinator IMO bear some resemblance to the writing in (JFK assassin) See Sirhan Sirhan's notebooks - particularly with the repetition, but it was "Do it now. Now." that reminded me (Sirhan wrote "Let us do it Let us do it / Let us do it do it it it".) This writing has led some to conclude that Sirhan was acting under post-hypnotic suggestion (aka "mind control").

"Maury Kelvin" = MK, as in MK-ULTRA, supposed CIA mind control program.
While "Kelvin" is relatively obvious ref to Lord Kelvin and not much else that I can think of, "Maury" has a few refs. Maury Terry is the author of "The Ultimate Evil", a book about mind controlled serial killers. While there are several mostly non-notable scientists (mostly astronomers) surnamed Maury listed in Wikipedia, there is at least one possible resonance with the Templars - Pierre Maury was a Cathar, which ties in with the Templars in ways too detailed to go into here. But that is probably a serious stretch... Lord Kelvin has no obvious Masonic or Templar links that I can find, although his is from Scotland (which is where the Templars supposedly hid out for a few centuries, to later re-emerge by creating Scottish Rite Masonry.)

"Less Than Zero" - ref to the novel or film?

"the word 'bricker'" - obviously "bricker" is synonym for "mason"

from Port's email to syntactic "Ever hear the tearm 'following your own tire tracks?'" No, and it doesn't really pull anything up on Google. "Follow my own tracks" does though, and the implication is that one is following tracks that they don't understand are their own - there was a scene like this in the original Winnie the Pooh movie, where Pooh & Piglet were walking around and around in circles, following their own footprints in the snow. King would appear to be implying that by contacting him you were following a false lead, no?

from Port ref "What's the frequency, Kenneth" - not just a REM song... In 1986, Dan Rather was attacked & beaten on the street by a stranger who kept yelling this phrase. 11 years later the assailant was identified as one William Tager. Apparently Tager believed he had been sent back in time from the future, but he didn't have the correct frequency to get back to the future; and apparently Rather was a doppelganger for the person who sent him back in time; therefore... you get the picture... see here

"The Great and the Terrible" - obviously, brings up Oz, but Google also pulls us up heavy hits for the novel A Great and Terrible Beauty which involves visions of dead people, as well as a secret society called the Order; and for A Great and Terrible King: Edward I and the Forging of Britain. There's also a series by this name written by Chris Stewart that appears to be a sort of LDS (Mormon) "Left Behind" series.

"Royal Order of Jesters" website - http://www.iroj.org/ - not sure this is IG...

König Darzin Code - maybe I'm really reading too much into this (because the substitution cipher in the first mention yields "I do", which is the answer to "Can you understand König Darzin Code?"), but:
1) use of "König" emphasizes "King"
2) first epigram from De Gustibus - DG starts "Your ghost will walk, you lover of trees". 2nd phrase doesn't matter, it was the "ghost" ref that caught me. 2nd part, 4th line is "Or look for me, old fellow of mine" (fellow traveler?)
3) second epigram from Hamlet...
Hamlet starts out with seeing the ghost of a king - while portking blog is about a King seeing a ghost...
But 3rd epigram, from Cosi fan Tutte, not familiar with, don't know if this contains any elements that follow this king/ghost pattern. But I doubt it.

While I'm on "king", this brings back up MK-ULTRA and the alleged MONARCH mind control program. Get it - monarch, king?

I'm pretty much right now on studying JDM's messages for rhyme schemes - from KM's 1st "Do this now you stupid cow" and then from back on p4 'share' and 'share' and 'care'. Not sure it means anything...

back on p5 from JDM "Sometimes the elil are just what they appear to be." Complicated joke. As mentioned, elil are enemies in WD. ref this: Sometimes The Enemy Wears Camouflage (from the NRA website)

"Soon to be a foot or six." means 6 feet of dirt above KM, as in "6 ft under"

syntactic, check your post on p8, maybe you can disable smilies because "8" next to ")" turns into a smiley.

Nix my suggestion on Brigham, IMO. I didn't read syntactic's message from JDM in the proper order:
syntactic wrote:

While I work on cracking this code which you have so elaborately prepared, what does the word "bricker" mean to you?

followed by:
JDM wrote:
Let me see let me see one who lives near a bridge in Olde English?
Or even one who builds things out of stone?

"Bricker" and "Brigham" are somehow etymologically related? I'd need to look that up. But I'm sticking with his 2nd "too easy to make that connection" - "bricker" as in Mason - but only time will tell I guess...

This is all just complete speculation and free-association on my part, maybe it gives somebody some useful ideas. Take with several extra grains of salt, because it is considerably less than 2 cents... (Now I'm off to finish reading portking...)

Very insightful and well written, good sir. We need your analysis around here more often, as you probably noticed I am prone to going off on tangents.

Ha! Thanks, I do appreciate that (as a noob here), but I'm not really sure that that isn't all tangents, y'know...

Checking real news sources for "santa rosa memorial park", just in case...

Woo, what a writeup, windup angel!

My guess is that the phone calls probably aren't from a separate thread of this game--otherwise, well, if he's not calling any of them back, there's got to be a lot of frustrated people on the other end of the game. Buuuut I can only guess.

Haha you're right, there. Well, we know there is a phone number, at least. Perhaps at some point we'll be able to communicate.

Again, though, getting info from Port isn't going to happen any other way that the blog. At least I don't think so. He seems to only want to talk to Wulf, and sparingly at that. It's too bad DeMolay disappeared.

Maybe the PM is out getting drunk with his buddies. Friday night and all. =p

@windup angel - feel free to speculate away. I do it constantly, and when no one replies you feel like you're just taking up space Smile

But you hit a lot of really salient points, as well as put a couple of things together I hadn't considered.

MK-Ultra. Great catch. But not sure if it's related. On the one hand, it very well could be, as it's been at the center of a lot of conspiracy theories throughout the years, much as have the Masons. On the other hand - there doesn't seem to be any direct relation between the Masons and that operation that I recall. Maybe it's a 6degrees of seperation kinda thing.

The quote "soon to be a foot or six" for some reason reminds me of something Mason related, possibly to do with the Tow Line. But also, I wonder if it's significant that the numbers were spelled out, rather than using the numbers themselves, i.e. six vs. 6...

I'm beginning to think with some of the conclusions, links, relations that we're drawing here that the article about Brown's book not happening could be incorrect. Possibly even meant to be misleading due to this...? But there is, as has already been stated, a very direct link between Freemason's and Mormon's. Brigham Young most definitely being a member of both. The fact that Brigham in Olde English is one who lived near a bridge, bricker, etc - some amazing coincidences - and most likely very deliberate.

Everyone has been doing awesome so far, and I'm glad to see more people joining in - the more eyes we have on this, the better. I'm still relatively new to this whole thing as well, and my forte so far seems to lie with character interaction moreso than breaking codes, but I'm working on it.

Laughing it's also good to see others that are as anxious to see an update as I am.. I have a hard time putting these down when there's a good story behind it. Next week is going to be tough for me though, as I'm flying out Monday for Chattanooga, and my time on these might be limited to evenings. *sigh*

[/speculation]

I share your sentiment, Wulf. I live for the character interaction. I love stories of any kind, and these ones actually bring you into them and allow you manipulate it. It's mind blowing.

That being said I love throwing myself at puzzles as well, always desperate for things to solve.

Do you think we're dealing with 1 PM here or multiple? Although both the Port character and the DeMoray character have very distinctive writing styles, I get the feeling they are one and the same person.

I don't see how 1 person could have created such an elaborate backstory and game, but it's possible.

*edit* what does everyone make of the repeated references to our "ancients"? maybe it's not on the unforums, but some other brood of ours.

Well, if this turns out to be an ARG for Dan Brown's new book, I would almost guarantee we're dealing with a team of PM's. And I'm not sure that they were planning on anyone showing up to the Santa Rosa spot - but if they were, it's a good chance there's more interaction than just blogs and emails. That and the intimation that we may have a chance to catch him in Oklahoma and New Jersey? Freakin awesome. I hope we can get some of the more experienced guys/gals in here, as I've seen them be able to put things together that just blow my mind. Even going so far as to be able to correlate some website that talks about dead drops, and figuring out in advance where the next drop will be.

I'm very surprised at the lack of interest here, so far. Given the amount of back story, the level of daily interaction, the very elaborate detail and complete immersion, I would think this would be buzzing.

That being said, if it's that big it's probably just the prologue period and a more overt trailhead will appear on argn or something. I hope.

Otherwise it is looking to be a very personal journey for us and a few others. Heh.
