I get the same feeling about the currect characters. There is a very intelligent sense of writing behind both Port and JDM, though they are distinctly different characters.

I feel like this might be the brainchild of one PM, but as the story unfolds here, he might bring in cohorts to help do his bidding. It's possible. I don't think it's reached that point yet. Whoever he is, though, he's got a very lovely grasp of character and storytelling (of which I am envious of already).

And hmm, the Ancients thing... I still want to say it's refering to admins or someone else on the site, but maybe there is someone out there who already has more information on this than we do.

I'm very surprised at the lack of interest here, so far. Given the amount of back story, the level of daily interaction, the very elaborate detail and complete immersion, I would think this would be buzzing.

That being said, if it's that big it's probably just the prologue period and a more overt trailhead will appear on argn or something. I hope.

Otherwise it is looking to be a very personal journey for us and a few others. Heh.

If this proves out to be for Brown's new book, I'm sure the level of interaction will pick up dramatically. I'm sure that this is just the prologue, but it's usually when people like to get involved, right at the beginning. Because you get in with the character interaction, get a feel for how the PM's work, and frankly, there's less to catch up on. I'm sure that the traffic will pick up.

I'm gonna search around and see if I can find anything that ties this to Browns new book, because if it is, there should be some sort of record of it -at least acknowledging it.

==edit==
I found an article related to what I mentioned earlier, about Brown's new book "The Solomon Key" not being finished. In it is linked the original article I read the other day. Click here for it. I think it should take you to the article, if not, lemme know and I'll post it here.

I read that. If it's accurate then DB is very close from releasing TSK for publish, which would mean this is a very short campaign. That is unless it runs beyond the release and well into the summer.

Well, I hate to say this, but in Stargate, the Ancients were the builders of the stargate network. builder <=> mason...? Not sure what that might mean though. Following that train of thought, "Ancient" might mean "PM".

But, I'd rather make sure some Admin or someone w/ high post count didn't simply have the message and not realize it before jumping to an assumption like that.

As far as the DB/TSK speculation - it would seem to be pretty weird for a game promoting one author to use another author's book so heavily, at least to me. (Is there an ARG precedent for that kind of thing?)

greetings - been lurking around the board for a little while - this thread looks like a fun place to jump in

i've looked for locations called Port King - found one in an area of the Falkland Islands called Lafonia - Port King is near a place called Egg Harbour - coincidentally, there is an Egg Harbor in New Jersey - all these bunnies, and now maybe eggs? - good timing, what with Passover and Easter

Egg Harbor may be a site of interest to researchers into the paranormal:
Egg Harbor City Cemetery
Egg Harbor City Cemetery MPEG's
The JERSEY DEVIL

--------------------------

Geographic Names Information System has no listing for Ball Harbor - only Bal Harbor in Florida - Palm Harbor definitely sounds like it should be in FL

here's my odd take on 1407 Oakhurst:
OAKHURST New Jersey's zip code is 07755 (i bet jack demolay likes that zip code) the zip+4 of 07755-1407 covers 101 to 199 (Odd only) ELMWOOD RD - i know it's a stretch - i'm new to arg-think

Ghost Story meets Murder Mystery meets Secret Organizational Conspiracy.

Sooo much Meta going on here, too little puzzles. Must... sleep...

i thought the package was the code revealed in the list of WD epigrams - confusion resulting from the way the board assumes angle brackets to indicate mark-up of some kind - so ancient refers to Wulf74, right? and with over 300 posts Wulf74 is ancienter than most everyone else who has posted in this thread

I'm too tired to put things together right now, will revisit tomorrow with hopefully a bunch of new posts from the other guys. However I will say that I'm so enjoying all the rich backstory and interwoven meta.

I think my problem is that I'm used to have pieces of meta tied together by a puzzle... being led by the hand a little as it were. Going to have to learn some deductive reasoning I guess. Smile

Alright, I'm 99% new to this.. This one caught my eye because I used to love Watership Down when I was younger. I want to jump in, but I'm kind of stuck at the same point as you guys. I've been reading the backlog for the past 3 hours, and there's not much new I can make of it.

I really think there might be something with that bracketing from the long email syntactic got. More specifically, the hidden bracketing that he first posted. It really does seem intentional, and there's definitely some words grouped together. For example, "With" is in its own set of double brackets. "Chorus in" is part of another set of brackets. Both words are bracketed themselves, but also contained within a larger bracket.

Quote:
with
Chorus in
the these what these
love courts his with nevertheless
0130
quant in his
courts 38
the 122

This is how they are divided up. So far it's been mostly nonsensical, I'm just chasing loose ends here.. I googled "the 122 New Jersey" and all I came up with was New Jersey Route 122. Nothing there.

Something interesting, though I doubt it has a tie-in, is when I googled "courts 38 new jersey", I came up with 38 Baldwin Court, Egg Harbor Township NJ 08234.

Interesting because a few posts ago everyone was talking about Egg Harbor. I'd chalk it up to coincidence anyway, but I figured I would post in case anyone else can figure something out!

I'd just like to say welcome to all of the newcomers that have joined recently. I've never seen an ARG start off and generate so much interest, especially with actual brand new players! We look forward to your input, and help with what looks like is going to be a pretty intense story!

I can't recall who mentioned it, but someone said something about the package actually being part of the information we received in the emails, and as I started digging into that idea, it dawned on me that deMolay has stated fairly recently that the Ancients (I doubt it's me - but you never can tell) are holding out on us - which deMolay seems to find funny. Heh, and just to be safe, when we found out about the package earlier, I called home and asked the wife if I had received anything - de nada. Of course, the other side to that like I've already mentioned - I've never posted my home address. So I suspect it's been sent to someone that regularly gets this kinda thing. My 2cents. But you'll learn quickly that my 2cents usually ends up with you wanting change.. lol

@ any UnFiction Admins that might be lurking Twisted Evil. Could you PM me? I'm curious to find out if anyone has received an unidentified package, and one other question. Thanks!

I got another email back from Port about 2am MST.
He answered the questions concerning the address, and whether or not he knew anyone in those various Cities, and whether he was familiar with that address - but he still seems to be refusing to offer any mroe information about him personally.
Quote:
Wulf,

Thanks Brother, but I don't know anyone in Oklahoma...or Santa Rosa, California...and I don't know anyone who lives on an Oakhurst Avenue. I'm pretty sure that I just pulled that address out of the air.

And I sincerely doubt that you will be able to help me.

Thanks though.

--Port

So my reply to him was of a very sympathetic nature, offering my help, and that he shouldn't write himself, nor my offer of help so quickly. I mentioned that he's avoided answering anything regarding Jenny, or anything else - and that at the very least I could offer a sympathetic ear if nothing else.

Ok, time to try and sleep again - damn insomnia anyway.

P.S. Hopefully this made sense, lol, as I can barely keep my eyes open, and my thoughts hopefully coherent.

New post up by Port King: http://portking.blogspot.com/2009/04/what-did-i-do.html

New character(s) introduced:

Fitch: from the bureau (supposedly)
[I have a feeling we will be hearing a lot more from him]

Fitch's unnamed partner.

Queenie- Girlfriend? Friend with benefits?( I believe she was mentioned before).

Old fat Borasario: Port's old partner? Another cop on the "jenny case" from 95.

Malloy: Cop but already dead.

Edit: I am just thinking out loud. Sometimes I helps to see it on the screen.

I'm starting to wonder if Port is much less a part of the game as he is a narrator to the story. We get more and more bits from him as we move along; something like the radio segments from ILOVEBEES.

If that's the case, our next info should be coming from DeMolay. Maybe it already has and we need to research Ong's Hat and how it applies. Perhaps given enough research it will supply us with the next question to throw JDM's way.
