yep, ditto on that borgia twitter...

a bit of checking, and mothersystems.com is registered at godaddy and domainsbyproxy, but there's no content on the page (yet?)

http://twitter.com/MOTHER_Systems
or 'Borgia Industries'

looks like borgia industries is the new cyberdyne research systems (as cyberdyne was destroyed in T2, along with the prototype T-800 arm and chip)

I received the twitter follow as well. One thing I noticed is that they are following James Pero who is the guy that the human resistance site is registered to...

I will say that there is a lot of mystery to this one!

I received it. Somehow, I don't think it has to do with Skynet Research... but I do think it has to do with www.thehumanresistance.com.

I don't buy it.

"Borgia Industries" appears online in multiple incantations, NONE of which refer to this franchise. they *DO* refer to the AvP franchise...

http://avp.wikia.com/wiki/Scarface

Quote:
Attracted by the city's heat and conflict, Predators of the Bad Blood clan had gone to Neonopolis to hunt, but had been captured by Borgia Industries, led by Hunter Borgia, who had used weapons derived from the Yautja technology to defeat them.

Quote:
When the next Predator contingent went to hunt on Earth in the year 2030, they were captured by the superior weaponry of a company called Borgia Industries.

http://forums.comicbookresources.com/archive/index.php/t-110723.html

Quote:
Weyland-Yutani bought out Borgia industries, the company who stole and adapted Pred-tech and called it Promethius tech. This included advanced cybernetics as well as the MOTHER circuit, to which they replaced with Lucretia Borgia. MOTHER is the central heart and nerv of Neonopolis (it's a city).

Now maybe I'm late to the party, but how do we know these are related?

ETA: That would also explain the name "MOTHER", which is the name of the on board computer system in the original Alien.

To answer your question, Nighthawk, I don't think they are related.

From what I can tell, http://www.thehumanresistance.com/ is an upcoming Terminator-based ARG, slated to start on August 29th, 2009, run by James Pero... and he seems to be using the SkyNet Research hype to promote his own upcoming ARG. I don't think he's trying to hijack the current ARG, per se... just use it to advertise his own, in a semi-subtle way.

Granted, I could be completely wrong... this is just what I think.

No I agree. I think they're building up their own ARG (possibly in anticipation for an AVP3 *bleh*) and are just leeching off Skynet Research's followers as a starting point.

Either way all they have is a Twitter page so far and it's updating in the same way Skynet Research does, so it doesn't look very good/professional anyway.

DCP

Has anyone else noticed that the DCP program takes up about 60% of their resources?

Also, I was looking in the getGeoIP.php file and one of the cities listed was Kyyivs'ka Oblast' in Kiev. When I looked it up, I ran across this site:
http://confluence.org/ - which is the Degree Confluence Project, and many of the points they've mapped look similar to the ones in the file. I think the Skynet software is using them as a reference.

Well, yeah, it's a DCP, it's supposed to use up your spare resources.

If you want to make sure it's not slowing your PC down:
Ctrl+Alt+Del (Task Manager)
Find 'SkyNetResearch...'
R-click, set priority "Below Normal" or "Low"

...That just means this is a "real" DCP, and not a program meant to act like one. The question I can't help but keep wondering, though, is wtf are they processing with this much computer power? I mean, if it was doing nothing, it wouldn't be using system resources like it is.

Referring to my post on page 31, there's no reason why this can't be helping an existing project by Hiroyuki Aihara in conjunction with Institut Pasteur. That'd be pretty kick ass if it was going towards helping real science, even if it does spell the end of mankind. Confused

Sorry guys, but I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords. I've joined Skynet. Resistance is futile!

Ally with me, fellow Terminators; my username is 'Automaton' (I don't know how to get to my profile page, can anyone help?)
