Money Laundering....

When BRB delivers to the Casino, wasn't that money in the shopping carts? And his delivery manifest read $1.72....$1.38...or whatever...I think that could be short for millions...and with Jim deducing that the casino is paying out 62% and therefore loosing it's shirt, the boys in black say "He knows" but nobody seems all that much concerened about it leads me to believe that the Versailles is nothing more than a money laundering front...

The question then becomes why? What is Watermark up to? Mr. No Name in the first episode tells Silas that 1,045,000 is "inconsequential" to his buissness finances...indeed that the real crime was turning the IRS onto Watermarks "massaged" relationship with them...Ira definetly is under Watermarks influence, allthough maybe not in a direct way...

I don't know....any speculations?

I'm not quite subscribing to the money laundering theme just yet (although not entirely ruled out). I can't see how, in a town as small and remote as Push, anyone could actually get any laundering done.

Granted it's not somewhere in the Hebrides, but wouldn't they be getting a whole helluva lot of that dirty money back when the good residents of Push come in to play a little Blackjack? In other words, I don't think there would be quite enough circulation in Push to sufficiently disguise the dirty money.

Just my op....for now.lol

here is a paranoid delusion for you.

I noticed that Push always looks like a ghost town, not alot of activity, just a few extras thrown in for good measure.

including the parking lot of the casino.

yet inside it's packed?

we have marthas boarding house, we are all about martha and her boycotting the north wing...

what marthas isn't... it isn't a gargantuan megalithic hotel.

not a taxi in the bunch either.

Just a mob of getting rich die hard gamblers without vehicles or hotel rooms...

I don't believe it's a laundering scheme yet. Not by a longshot.

Well, a friend of mine that's working on the puzzle with me suggested it...I really didn't get that either, allthough I can see where it would be a logical assumption...and he sited the visual clue of them unloading BRB's truck with Laundry baskets filled with money as a tipoff or clue to "Money Laundering"...so I said I'd throw it on the boards and see what everyone else thought...

I'm still not ruling it out however...hell, I'm not ruling ANYTHING out...lol...

We know that the government is in this in some sort of way, right? Or else why would the attorney general close all the files on WM and Versailles?

Quote:
So then I have Grace contact the state gaming commission. ...they tell her that all files on Watermark LLC and the Versailles Casino are closed on direct order from the attorney general.

Strange... not sure I agree with the money laudering (not ruled out though... nohing is). Maybe it's more like government money being used for expirements. But why the big payouts? Maybe to keep the locals happy and living there so they can continue to be expiremented on? Just a spec. More show than game.

Well, of course it isn't in a direct way, we could only see them standing in front of him.

WUL2K,
I think dark side meant that maybe watermark influenced gov't big wigs and they were influencing Ira.

just a thought. Dark Side of the Moon can probably speak for him/herself.

Thanks for the defence LuvinPush...lol...

WUL2K, what I meant by that comment at the time was that poor Ira was making a call under stress and duress...and he may not even know that they were the bad guys...Ira may be a straight shooter and have no clue about Watermark...he may in fact think that he has a insubordanant agent in the field on a (now) rouge mission and is simply carrying out commands from his higher ups and may be totallty oblivious to the Watermark thing...

Actually, I still think that Ira is a straight shooter...but more and more the evidence seems to point to him being in the loop...allthough why send in Jameson Jones like the calvary unless he wasn't sincere?

Then again, Jameson Jones may be a plant meant to control Jimbo better...but I don't feel he's a bad guy....

Oh, and by the way, I'm male...lol...
