I disagree about all the Jan spec... It seems possible to me that Jan and James James are not blood relatives. Note her reaction on the PQI machine when she says "Hi Dad" -- the interrogator also notices her reaction to James is abnormal. I don't think James is Jan's dad. Also, note her name, "Janisarry" seems also to indicate that their relationship is not a familial one.

This topic is already 13 pages.
This topic is not for SPEC about Jan.
This topic is for determining the order of the wav files.
Please try to refrain from posting SPEC in this topic.

Or, one of the two gaps that you mentioned coincidentally contains two of the missing sound clips. I think there'd have to be a substantial explanation between Jan and "dad" leaving the police station and having it catch fire.

Two of the pet theories, before we had hey_soldier, was that emergency came *before* walkaway girl and law abiding. I think that, given the spec we have, two possibilites might still come true:

1) Emergency comes before law abiding.
spec: Jan's sarcastic tone in the car ("that was fun...") indicates perhaps more happened before the car ride home than just the interrogation. If, after leaving the station, James J. went back and torched the station, Jan would know of it, but being conditioned to her father's extreme measures would be nonchalant in her reactions.

2) Law Abiding, (missing clip), Emergency
spec: (missing clip) providing some twist that gives James J. a reason to suddenly turn around and go back for a little cleanup duty. Jan's line "How Law abiding of you" might be foreshadowing of a frenzied bolt back to Paris23.

you_knew makes it sound like Alzheimer's second theory is the most likely to me. When James James say's he'll take care of it... Smile

Update early 25 August: I don't have time to splice wavs today, but this is updated with what we know with more wavs from this morning.

All right, my final analysis of what we have so far. Pipes (|) indicate endcaps, either known (rewind sounds) or expected.

Jan, James, and the Police

(blip.wav)Jan infiltrates the base --gap (99% certainly pillow.wav)-- Jan jumps off a building -- (hey_soldier.wav) Jan gets caught
Jan gets interrogated (spliced MP3)
Jan and James drive (home?) (you_knew.wav) James vows to "take care of it"
The police station goes up in flames

Jersey and Durga (Possibly/Probably Melissa)

Jersey and "Durga" discuss dead AIs, evading, and pictures of his neighbor (spliced MP3)

The Dating Game

This thread is the least well-put-together so far. Best guesses:

Kamal's date doesn't go so well, even with Hiro in his ear (spliced MP3)
It's all about the beer -- Yes. Four goats.
Kamal and Sophia talk about Aiden -- Kamal and Sophia talk about their mothers
Kamal and Sophia discuss Aiden's medical ethics -- (you_could.wav) Kamal discusses ghosting with Sophia -- Sophia hears her own voice
Kamal and Sophia consider spying on Aiden
You have three new messages, Kamal
They spy on Aiden; "The sores will heal..." (spliced MP3)

How these three threads relate temporally to one another, I've no clue. We also have yet to show a relation between the Jan/Jersey plot and the Dating Game.

There does seem to be a relation, in that we find out in the Durga storyline that "James James" is a false identity ( what a surprise! ), and from the "Dating Game" storyline we find out that Aiden helps smuggles people through Earth immigration. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that Aiden was the one who procured the false identity for "James". Also, it appears that both Kamal and Jersey are computer adepts; Kamal with his "ghosting" and Jersey with his knowledge of AI's and his fancy PDA system.

They are loose connections but they seem to emerge from what we know already with little prodding.

On the ridiculously long thread in the Axons sub-forum, someone postulated that they all happen at the same time...

Quote:
remember in dizzy he mentions a power blip
in parasites there's mention of a power blip
and of course in blip the power went out that's why they were on alert

The relation between the threads may be only temporal, but I think there's more to it than that.

You_Knew ends with an Act-Closing.

And Emergency starts and ends with double-long sounds. That means it stands alone.

So based on the two lengths of windup and down sounds we have:

Act 1 - Jersey and Durga (missing an ending sound)
Scene 1 : dizzy,escape,jersey,reflected,durga, [??? pillow]

Act 2 - Kamal's and Sophia's Dating and Spying adventures.
Scene 1: parasites,eyes
Scene 2: beer,four_goats
Scene 3: our_hoodlums,much_lifting
Scene 4: meditape,[??? you_could],say_something
Scene 5: guilty
Scene 6: message_saved
Scene 7: tuna,hi_aiden

Act 3 - Jan gets in Trouble
Scene 1: blip,???,walkaway_girl,hey_soldier
Scene 2: pqi,stupid_cop,yes_or_no,hey_dad,nervous
Scene 3: law_abiding,you_knew

Act 4 - Emergency
Scene 1: emergency

Problem: There are three ??? and only two unlocked sounds (pillow and you_could).

Okay, removed the spec about one between our_hoodlums and much_lifting, agreeing with below poster.

Edit 2 - speculated on the positions of the last two ???
Edit 3 - agreed there's a gap between blip and walkaway_girl, so the problem is back.

I'm 99% convinced that there is no missing file between our_hoodlums and much_lifting, which brings us down to 2 missing, 2 locked.

our_hoodlums and much_lifting make perfect sense together -- they laugh at the "our hoodlums" joke and she continues her thought about how her mom wouldn't understand Aiden.

Actually, looking at this again, I think you missed a gap.

blip -> ??? -> walkaway_girl -> hey_soldier

There IS a wind-down sound at the end of durga, so we still have just 2 gaps remaining.

Okay, one possibility is that they got sloppy and forgot to make the ending of Durga a double-long winddown (see the ends of hi_aiden, you_knew, and emergency to see what I mean)

That way "pillow" might go between blip and walkaway_girl.

Woah, I didn't even see that you_knew was up.

Kudos to me for having you_knew, and blip right, along with my made up scene ideas being almost parallel. Yay! heh.

Any word on if anybody got recordings of the other two, besides four_goats since we already heard that recording.

Brian:

You do still have guilty and message_saved out of order. Guilty clearly comes after "say_something" and before "message_saved". Message_saved is the result of Kamal's investigates which were requested in "guilty". Tuna is the second meeting of Kamal and Sophia, resulting from Sophia's discovery of the other woman, Celine.

Ah I see. Well that's why I had them both labeled F, because I couldn't decide where to go. (It works like that in my head) Plus, as I was trying to sleep last night, I was constantly coming up with different scenarios. I see what you mean about the two files though, I agree with you, I should have them turned around.

I was a little behind because I missed some newly unlocked files. I'm working on an updated version right now. I've edited that post you quoted to reflect an update.
