Sorry this took so long to post. Donovan ended up catching me on Y! on my phone - and I just now got to a 'puter. In a nutshell - he's told us we need to investigate, or find out more about ArgenSoft. Unfortunately he wasn't able to provide anything really helpful - and I'm sure because of the conversation on my phone, the difficulty and lag between messages (you can see where we overlap), I missed the chance to ask something critical..

Here's the conversation.

Just a though. Considering we're supposed to find more out about Argensoft, maybe we should go back to the main page. I started trying to get any data out of d.jpg on the main page with steghide. It asked for a passphrase, but I can't think of anything.

Any ideas?

Using a program like that will always ask for a password - even though there might not be anything there. The tough part about finding hidden info in jpg's - is that unless you have the original picture to compare it to (size in kb, etc) - you're really just guessing as to whether anything is there. And without any sort of hint of what the password could be, once you try all the possibilities relevant to the ARG... well you get the idea.

I would imagine that there will be something new to see on the argenSoft website soon - if not some sort of other information received via email or IM.

New update and source on double.html

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
recalculating objectives... <!-- MY SECRETS ARE UNDER LOCK AND the_key.7z which leads you to another http://argensoft.netau.net/the_key.7z

Downloaded the 7 Zip program to open the file and got a picture from the first matrix movie.

Comparing the image to a few other similiar ones via Google - it's obvious this one has something hidden as well. The size of the .bmp is almost 2.5MB.

The statement
Quote:
MY SECRETS ARE UNDER LOCK AND the_key.7z
just confirms something is hidden within the .bmp.

So far no luck with steghide - tried the most obvious passwords first: thesaurus entries for "key", various Matrix related words.

Not sure if this is from the source image or not, but

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
in the bottom right corner of the_key.bmp, in small print, it says "2001ASPACEODYSSEY"

It doesn't seem to be the password though...?

I tried that for teh PW as well - no luck, as well as each word separately and still no love. Unfortunately big geek that I am - that was one film I never got into, and as such never saw it.

Those of you that have - any other suggestions for teh PW as it relates somehow to not only the picture of the Matrix, but 2001 A Space Odyssey as well? I'm willing to give it a shot if someone can offer suggestions.

"My God, it's full of stars" is the last line of the movie.
