I think the Sleeping Princess might actually be Sophia. SP describes herself as an "innocent bystander." I don't know... I'm just not sold on Jan being the SP. SP strikes me as more of a typical teenage girl, not some sort of super-smart fighting machine. I'm leaning more towards Jan/Melissa and Sophia/SP right now...

Nothing suggests that 'Dad' is anything other the special (special) forces. There is no indication that he is any kind of super solder. In you_knew he ever mentions that there is an entire support team. Although it is clear that he caused the fire to happen there is no indication that he himself actually implemented it.

Also, remember that there is more to a Father-Daughter relationship then just biology. Adoptive parents are still called Mom and Dad. A 'handler' that has been handling and raising a child from a VERY young age will have much the same relationship as an adoptive parent with no biological relationship.

Okay so far.

Jan is either a spartan 3. Or,
Jan is a test subject for original implantations liberated by an oni spook. Or,
Jan is the child of a spartan so has above average human strengths but not supery spartan stuff.

Jan is going to be made into Melissa in the future. Or,
Jan is being spied on by an AI under orders of Jersey.

Spartan offspring wouldn't have the Spartan's ultra-superhuman traits, but they would be genetically superior to most. Most of the Spartans' enhancements are surgical or medical in nature (artificially boosted thyroid activity to cause them to grow bigger, implants designed to boost muscle mass a reflexes, etc), so they wouldn't be passed on. I really think that Jan isn't Spartan offspring, though it's possible, given that the Spartans have been around for 40-something years by the time of the Fall of Reach. My instincts say that she's a part of Ackerson's S3 program under the control of an ONI handler. Jan's attitude would reflect Ackerson's attitude of brashness and impudence, which contrasts with John's (the Master Chief) stoic nature, which reflects Dr. Halsey's rather stoic nature. It's a stretch, but not entirely implausable. Ackerson obviously considered the Spartans "freaks", so it might make sense that he would be trying to engineer supersoldiers that were more like normal humans.

It sounds like she was on some sort of op in the base, maybe an impromptu op with her fellow trainees. Durga somehow caused a blackout ("We would never have caught her if not for the blackout."), which led to Jan being caught. It's possible that this was caused by Durga after Jersey asks for pictures of Jan (as in, she attempted to hijack the base's cameras to watch her for Jersey).

I don't think that she told her "father" the truth about it being a dare.

Its from law_abiding. I know the part about the gate pass and dereliction mean, but what about the part before it? What the hell is turtled a razor-back?


Nevermind. While I was typing that I think I figured it out: (maybe everyone else knows this and I am just stupid) They said that there was a vehicle stolen from the motor pool (military term), and dumped in a ditch, right? Well, what could a razor back be? A warthog, perhaps? (see where I am going?) Turtled would mean flipped, as in couldn't upside down and couldn't get it back over.

Maybe that's old news, but it sounded good to me.

A thought..

We know that the entity/ies (i'll lump all of them in as Melissa here for clarity) inhabiting ILB.com are transmitting us voices that she believes are responsible for her crash here. We got a message telling us that.

That should help to put some of the [SPEC] about Jen being ghosted and copied into Melissa into perspective. I'm not convinced that like of thinking is quite right.

There also seems to be some confusion as to what 'ghosting' is.

Some seem to see it as some kind of brain image copy that could be used to create an AI. Personally I have seen nothing to support that.
The evidence points much more strongly to the idea that ghosting is more like shadowing (to use the PC terminology) in that you get a shadow (or ghost) copy of whatever the target sees and hears.

We seem to have two 'hackers' here. We have Durga hacking Jan and we have Kamal hacking Aiden.
