I'm betting this is the opening salvo in a promo for a movie version of Stephen King's "The Stand", of which there are rumours, Superflu and oldschool religion, it just has to be.

oh don't get my hopes up.
Stephen King = God!
The Stand = The Bible!
Captain Tripps = Divine force! XD

but really, it could be but right now there just isn't enough details...

Seriously, how many end of the world scenarios do you know of that hinge on the flu ? and involve millenialist religion ?

also military style blood red stencils are suggestive..

The Stand is another great book, but given the track record for adapting my fav SK books (shivers at thought of Dreamcatcher)... Now I'm scared...

The Stand was less about the Bible and more about opposing, divine forces. There might have been a couple of Bible passages in there, but when I hear "The Stand," I don't think "Bible" and God and Satan. I think Flagg and Mother Abagail.

Quote:
11 "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.

12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.

If you go to the end of the countdown and subtract 1290 and 1335 days using the Julian Calander you wind up with Monday Feb 26, 2007 and Friday Jan 12, 2007 respectively.

Checking for significant events, nothing yet.
I suppose you could also add the days to the end of the countdown.

I haven't read The Stand, could there be any significance to the 45 day difference in the above quote?

Watching. If it's about The Stand, I'm in.

Fair point, it's just with that military style stencil and mention of the flu my mind went immediately to the military base at the start of the stand.

oh well, i live in hope.

Trying not to get my hopes up for something relating to "The Stand"....but I figure with 498 days, I've got time to prepare myself. I'm on board.

Ooo... if this is about "The Stand," I'm in. Though it's been about 10 years since I read it in high school. *digs through her library to find the book*
~500 days should give me plenty of time to reread it. Smile

And even if it's not, I'm in. Sounds like it will be good.

Now, I'm not saying this at all to get anyone excited. At all. Because I really don't think this has anything to do with The Stand's universe. But, JJ Abrams is making movies out of The Dark Tower, and Captain Trips did occur in one part of that series.

I don't see Abrams starting a 500 day countdown though, because that's a hell of a long time to keep people excited.

Dark Tower being made into a movie = scares the crap out of me
J.J. Abrams chosen to make that movie = just a tiny bit less scary
(The only thing needed is for the lobstrosities to start showing up on the island in lost, and the polar bear turn out to be robotic and hey! we're halfway there)

The real test will be to see if Sawyer starts calling anyone his Dadachum. Or I guess Juliet could be his Dadachick.
