Now if this were to happen for, say, five generations, the genetics would be so adapted to not having a left hand, the sixth generation ("Person C") might not have a left hand, or a less developed left hand.

This is demorstrated by losing of our tails, and our all over bodily hair.

If someone was to be surgicaly enhanced, and then that persons offspring, and that persons offspring, and that persons offspring, and that persons offspring might already have the surgical enhancements because of evoulotion.

Well that was very mixed so i hope you got the idea.

This is likely offtopic, but no, that's wrong. The fundamentals of evolution are a) lots and lots of time, and b) survival of the fittest. Unless not having a left hand causes you to become more fit for survival, the chances of your genes propagating drop, and thus, the trait dies out given enough time. Specific members of a species don't create new evolutionary traits by adapting to their circumstances; rather, certain traits emerge because they make that particular specimen more fit for survival, and they outlive their competitors, which leads to the eventual propagation of the gene throughout the species, given that the advantage is "strong" enough.

Regardless, one generation would not be enough for any sort of evolved trait to show up, so the point is moot.

well, i do agree that its not really relavent, but thats not entirely true what you said. there was a species of fish that were known to have sight, but a group that lived and repopulated in a cave somewhere ( i forget where ) after a long time started to be born blind because they didnt need sight in the dark cave. its not survival, its just that their eyes were never used, and this passed genetically. but yeah, somebody losing a hand is different. maybe if they were born without a hand it would matter.

No thats survival of the fittest, having unused eyes was an excess energy requirement meaning they had to get more food than most and would have less energy to produce more offspring
So overtime, as theres less food and more babies produced by those with lesser energy requirements ie smaller eyes to unused eyes, those with eyes are outcompeted and lose their trait for eyes to be passed on as its too rare to show up and of no use. I hope that made sense.

yes it could be rewinding or fastforwarding of a recording or of a data file that is contained in the AI

it is generally assumed that what we are receiving with rewind and fastforward points are what jersey is remotely viewing via durga, jans convo with her date and the hacker are all some kind of memory of melissa's

Although it is possible.

that is the most perverted example of evolution I have ever seen. that's not how it works. We lost our tails becuase they no longer served a purpose not becaue they were cut off from generation to generation. When a trait becomes obsolete there is less selective pressure to keep it and thus, those who have non-fuctioning or absent "whatevers" are allowed to reproduce and pass that faulty trait to offspring. Eventually over tens of thousands of years (not 6 generations) the "whatever" will no longer be expressed. The human apendix is going through this process as we speak.

Sorry for the off topicness but I am a biologist and bad biology bugs me.

Back to the topic, I don't think we have any proof to connect this story to the halo or marathon or even myth universes as of yet.

Another possible theory might be that the AI is a split of Cortana from the period after Halo 1, and has been "sent" back in time to warn them of the impending attack of the flood and covenant. But because of the fragmentation and shick of traveling through time, loses awareness of identity and mission.
To realte to the halo universe, AI's, and ghosting (I have a feeling it was once very breafly mentioned).

Lace the beers with one type of every pill in your house, you might wake up in time for the axon to go hot. Or in hospital.

No, but if the same process happened over generations, then the space for the metal might be there, or whatever the metal did (if anything) would be done because the evoulotionary process is use to it.

Losing our tails did not make us fitter. In fact, it made us less equipted to climb trees and such.

Who's to say it's one generation? This could be in any point in time, there has been no date of any kind.

How long ago was it that piercings were widley available - we're probobly just in the third generation now. And who's to say that every girl in that family was to have her ears pierced?

I'm thinking "the Castaway" is Jersey's Father. Any takers?
1) He's deploying buoys in deep space - Jason Merelli (father) is "radio beacon deployment" (from jersey.wav)

2) Castaway is Married - So is Jason Merelli

3) Jass and Swing playing in the castaway's room - Jersey Merelli has the same stuff playing in his room in jersey.wav

Now, what does it connect with?

Very Nice... Very Logical...
