Oh, obviously. Apollo, are you available this week?

Alternately, or along with, or perhaps not, his 'reply-to' Craigslist email (pers-creaz-1151877455SHPADOINKLEcraigslist.org) could be integrated into a flier posted around downtown. Interesting! Though I don't want this person to end up spammed. (Then again, how many people actually send email to addresses on fliers? I have no idea. I mean, I've done it, but I'm kind of reckless.)

My original idea was doing a video or audio track with info. While, granted, it sounds like they already found relevant websites, a video or audio track is reusable.

One thing to consider in all this is that personals (as missed connections are classified) in SF/Craigslist expire after 7 days... so we have 6 left to do something fun.

(Confidential to crumblydonut: I used "shpadoinkle" as a placeholder on a wiki doc I was writing for my day job. It's still there. Thank you.)

Since this guy is an "ARG newbie" I think it would be awesome to integrate him into a real-world drop, I mean isn't that the most exciting part about all of this? Wink

I think a small "pre-induction" induction may be kind of neat. this would work the same as the JI induction, give him a map/instructions and he follows them. Along the way fliers are posted on poles, he meets up with in-game plants (one of us) and gets more clues to what's going on. At the end, he is introduced/inducted into the EPWA, then is asked to "spy" on the Jejune Institute, letting him go do his thing from there.

You have my shark. I would love to be more involved, but this sexyshark has work and school full time in the south bay. But if we plan something for a day I don't work then the shark will be there.

EDIT: Jason7AU, I am available tomorrow in the afternoon, I will happen to be in SF with another player (participant? EPWA Public servant? Whatever we are) and we will be right near Union Square.

I know its short notice, but would anyone like to spread the news of true nonchalance tomorrow around 4:17 (give or take a month)?

notes:
i suppose we could send this via personal email but i think it'd be more interesting if it was with one of those anonymous random email accounts. but then he couldn't confirm the meeting. so i donno

also the password thing might not work since we donno what this person looks like and it would be kinda odd to go around and ask everyone 'ornithopter?' the PM's had the benifit of having seen us in the induction center before hand.

Nice draft Ever. If he is to meet up with a plant, (I assume me since you all like the shark so much, but anyone else would do just fine) the plant should have something to give him.

I am digging this map idea. Perhaps having two maps ready would be prudent, one to lead him to the Jejune institute, and encase he has already been "inducted" into the Jejune Institute a second to take him to a spot where another plant can send him to go do some EPWA CHALK OPS. Big party? The chalk ops could go on with or without him, so even if he is a no show, we still have our fun.

Absolutely! The dialogue I had going through my head when I posted was something along the lines of:

He Asked: How do I become involved?

The answer: You are already involved. Very Happy

If you guys want, I have an "in game" e-mail address

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
CaptKing.EPWASPLATgmail.com

If you guys want, I can begin sending him docs/messages, information leading up to the dead drop, etc.

I'm also thinking when he arrives at the location, he should be given a map/clues (much like the induction card) that leads him to SexyShark the EPWA operative, then to the JI to do a "reconnaissance" mission. I think it would be awesome if the initial contact map is taped under a payphone or something... just a thought

(Also, I'm not leaving until wed or Thursday, so if happens around then, I could help out if needed)

after checking my schedule, I find that I am really only free tomorrow (Tuesday the 5th of May) in the afternoon for the next two weeks. If that is too short notice, and I know it might be, I could entrust the shark to Ever, who I know personally and don't mind lending it too.

In the hopes of participating in this, I move that we move quickly. Would anyone here be able to do this tomorrow? Even if our guy is a no show, we can still do some anti-jejunery.

Ever's draft letter seemed perfectly fine, CK has the email address ready to go, and my shark is waiting to hit the streets. All we need now is people to say that they are down, and we can get this going. Time is of the essence so lets make haste.

The Urban Phoenix is *in* for tomorrow if you (or Ever) want some company / additional help. I just spoke with Duckstabd and he is *in* as well.

My suggestion is that we could "dress up" Eva's shrine (I was thinking a few of those inexpensive battery powered *fake* tea candles and maybe a few small toy dinos). Maybe leave the map at the shrine, then chalk our path to Jejune HQ, so even if this person is a "no show" somebody else may follow the path.

That's strange, I created an account... Wonder why it shows the posting as 'Guest'? Maybe I wasn't logged in?

This is a great idea. But I also like the idea of the plants giving things to the participant. maybe a map to the shrine?

How about the participant starts at portsmouth square (where the playground was), and then the map (either taped under a payphone, given to him by a "hobo" [a plant]) then that map leads them to Cooper alley (where they Eva shine is located). At the shrine, the operative can tell the participant to visit the JI, and receive more information?

unfortunately i have work tuesday. i'm free monday or wednesday afternoons until 3:30 though. i think this might be a tad short notice, not just for us, but for the person we're doing this for. perhaps we figure out days we can do this, and then suggest 'drop point times' to him so we can figure out a good time for all?

Yah, what he said. Also I was going to bring up a couple points, just as advice, please feel free to disregard and do what you want. Smile
  • Make sure that whatever you have planned, you have time to bug test and do a practice run-through at least once. If this is their introduction, you don't want it to be shoddy.
  • Keep it simple because they might not have much time at that moment to go pursue other paths. Ornithopterjumpsuit took about 15 to 20 minutes for each person, tops. (Less than that if you're an antsy smart-ass like me who went walking down 24th St. as soon as C14 started dropping instructions. Wink ) As for the music store night pre-&_action, I wasn't watching the clock but it took maybe 20-30 minutes.
  • Tomorrow might indeed be short notice, especially for the Craigslist poster. A lot of the one-off events were in the evening (music store, ACTION!) or on the weekend (ornithopterjumpsuit) because lots of us have day jobs or school, and we were given at least a week's warning each time.
  • Assuming the poster has any Google-Fu whatsoever, he or she may have already read your plans on this thread, and the surprise is ruined. Wink Find somewhere private to plan, like email or a private group.
  • Most everyone loves a good souvenir to illustrate the tale of their experience.
  • Consider running your plans past the EPWA to see what they think. I bet they'll dig your initiative and enthusiasm but may have valuable input! And just in case, don't be disheartened if their input is "don't do it," they may have their reasons.

Now I have an idea but I didn't post it because of the google-fu point above. Smile (Of course I bollixed the Sexyshark surprise, granted. Oops.) Also I'm totally down for whatever but this week I'm not free until Thursday, and not during the day on weekdays.

there's always the anti-climactic option of just telling them 'yeah, no, you can still catch up.' even if it's in a cryptic EPWA sorta way.

just sayin' >_>

also, considering the PM's read this forum i would think if we were stepping on their plans that they'd have contacted us by now. it's not like they don't have all our emails.

but yeah. keep it simple. as fun as it'd be to have a plant, a map under a phone that gets them on their way might suffice if we can't get the scheduling right.
