PICNIC'08 !
Anyone going to visit PICNIC/Amsterdam by any chance? :)

So... september 24-26, Amsterdam will once again be hosting the biggest, boldest and coolest cross-media convention I erh... have ever been to Cool
It's the third installment of PICNIC! Thanks to jamesi (you, sir, are awesome), I will once again be going there to report on the event for you courtesy of ARGNet, and if you're planning on going as well, let me know if you want to meet up & have a drink or something!

For some more info on PICNIC, here's a preview of the event by ARGNet, including links to the reports of previous editions. Also, check out the awesome lineup of speakers for this year's conference!

I know this is really really old. But I hope you (Giskard) will see it.

I found out about Picnic 2009 through your dutch name at ARGNet.
I thought: Hey! A dutch name in the staff, he must know stuff about ARG's!

So I Googled you, and here I'm back again.

The thing is: I would like to go to Picnic 2009, but it's very expensive for a student like me. So do you know maybe of the best day to go, if I want to learn about ARG's and similar things? Because an all-days-pass is way too expensive for me.

And do you know anything about the upcoming program?

Hi! Nice to see the occasional fellow countryman in here!

As you've probably guessed from my reports of PICNIC '07 and '08, I'm pretty psyched about the conference, it's always a great experience, but I do have to warn you that although PICNIC certainly touches upon ARGs now and then, it's more a generally cross-media themed conference overall, so if your express goal is to learn and hear about ARGs, I'm not sure if you'd think PICNIC would be worth your money.

No info has been released on this year's program yet though, and I've discussed ARGish topics with the PICNIC people in the past, so who knows they'll invite this year Wink Check out their main site here, you can register for their newsletter which releases info on the upcoming conference.

Ofcourse, if you really want to learn about ARGs and meet all the cool people in the industry and on these forums, join us in Portland this summer for the 9th installment of ARGFest Smile

I would love to learn more about ARG's, but I'm interested in other cross-media things as well.
I believe I could actually learn a lot more ARG stuff by surfing online, than by listening to the occasional ARG-speaker at PICNIC.
I've listed up for the newsletter, thanks for the tip!

I do have the time and money to go to ARGFest, but I don't believe I'm ready yet to spend € 2000,- on a one-week vacation. I'm just not involved enough I think. What's the use in meeting the VIP's of the ARG world, if I have no idea what they've done, and why it's so cool to "finally meet them!" Wink

Maybe next year. But I'm sure to check out videos and other online summaries!
