"Wet the system".

When have we heard that before?

Alright, but do we know who wrote that paragraph in the site? I'm not 100% following everything on the ILB site.

this is really starting to get me. has anyone even remotly passed by one of my posts?? I havesn't seen anything for them yet except 1 person trying to put the same thing into there own words. come on people

i dont remember jersey ghosting jan in particular at all. Even if that was the case, repeatedly ghosting jan wouldnt cause her to be duplicated as an ai as ghosting in this term is basically listening in on their conversations by remotely accessing their 'cell phones in their minds' and talking through them.

Here's a thought as to how Jan and James get onto the ship (see Phase 1 text). Perhaps Selene is Jan! We know Aiden is dealing with illegal immigrations. We also know that whoever Kowalski is talking to in Phase 1 got on the ship illegally and it appears that it is James James.

Perhaps Aiden and Jan met up in the restaurant. That would mean Durga is really, really keeping close tabs on Jan. This would give more credibility to the appearance of the date scene (which seems pretty random other than it shows how you could ghost someone).

I personally don't think there's credence here, as the present is seperated from this presumed future by, what's the time-distance to the Haloverse, 2 or 3 centuries?

Good shot, though... keep mulling stuff over...

The events in Halo occur in late August/early September of 2552. A good synopsis of the Halo story and timeline can be found here.

More "Stuff" than just symantecs

Okay, I'lll grant that, and I'm not sure if that edit was made before I started writing "stuff".... and that's fine, we all mis-speak at some time or another.

...That however, is only about 20% of what I was talking about, and also used the opportunity to throw out another [SPEC], as wild as it may be.

In essence I was agreeing with your idea, but I did mention I was being technical just for the sake of not discounting any possible/implausible ideas until definitively proven false.

Im more interested in what theories people have offer about the .wav files and their relationship to:

  • The Halo Universe
  • The Operator Monologues (And the snippets sprinkled throughout ilove bees.com)

So no worries.

Big Questions

Supressing the urge to once again correct the horrible perversion of evolutionary genetics seen on this board, I give you the Big Questions as I see them:

1. Where did Durga come from and what is the significance of the name?
2. Is Durga Melissa?
3. What is the realation of James and Jan and what is thier "position"?
4. How do the MPs know Jan enough to give her a nickname of "Walkaway Girl"?
5. Why does Jersey ask about Jan and what does Durga provide that is "better" than pictures?
6. Who or what is actually recording these snippets?

and now the Really Big Macroview Big Questions:

7. How do these 3 stories relate to The Operator/Melissa, Flea, and the Sleeping Princess?
8. The command lines on ILB read !transmit truth. Why would The Operator/Melissa consider these clips to be "the truth"?
9. When do we get our Halo 2 demos Laughing

All other questions I consider to be subsets of these questions. The last 2 I feel are most important as we have to bring this around to the main storyline at some point to go forward. Let the speculation begin

Im not even going into the whole haloverse thing here. I'm talking about the original voice recording from "DANA" and the new recording of the "JAN". the voices are identical in every way. even acording to my computer

So are you saying that you believe them to be the same character/person...?

[SPEC] The nature of Durga, Melissa and others

Despite all the SPEC to suggest that all these characters become ONE as Melissa doesn't have me convinced.

I expect it's likely that Durga is Melissa, simply because she's the only AI in the audio clips. Further, she "likes to find things... like to find things out". Melissa's favorite game is Hide and Seek, which we've learned from text (Melissa's memories) is a type of game for an AI to be classified by.

I think Durga may pick up recordings of things going on elsewhere in the world, but that does NOT mean that she necessarily absorbs their memories into her personality to become Melissa. They may be important characters in the story about HOW Melissa comes to reside on www.ilovebees.com, as well as the over all plot.

Related thoughts: I'm not convinced that the Princess and the Flea are "part" of Melissa or Durga. They may be completely separate programs, with different purposes/functions. It's possible the Princess IS an AI modeled from Jan, but I do not yet see any evidence to support this yet, except for the fact that Jan is 17, and the Princess now sounds like a teenager (and that's a pretty weak link, IMHO).

We're not sure where she came from. However, Durga is a Hindu goddess that is a combination of the other gods and goddeses (like a Hindu Captain Planet or something. Wink) who comes forth to fight demons.

My best speculation is that James is Jan's "handler", and that James is an ONI spook, which seems to fit with his not having any real background. Jan is obviously superhuman in some regards, and it's likely she's a supersoldier or supersoldier candidate.

That's the million-dollar question, isn't it?

Re: Big Questions

1. Where did Durga come from and what is the significance of the name?
The future. Durga means that the good band together to defeat the evil, signifying some other relation to jan and co to defeat covies is spec.

2. Is Durga Melissa?
Yes, they share the same lines, wetting the system etc and jersey's father is quite similar to the castaway and the castaways son is the first person who meets durga and the castaway is the first person to treat melissa as real.

3. What is the realation of James and Jan and what is thier "position"?
father figure to daughter figure, nothing more specific atm

6. Who or what is actually recording these snippets?
I would say durga, she is the one instigating all of this

and now the Really Big Macroview Big Questions:

7. How do these 3 stories relate to The Operator/Melissa, Flea, and the Sleeping Princess?
been compared many times and there are many versions

8. The command lines on ILB read !transmit truth. Why would The Operator/Melissa consider these clips to be "the truth"?
because all we've been looking for so far as to the operator's identity and past is 'the truth' we've been seeking revealing and are currently trying to behold it.

9. When do we get our Halo 2 demos Laughing
i dont think there will be one for xbox, if there wil be then not til october at least

That was my first thought, but it seems odd that she'd record her own interactions with Jersey from Jersey's point of view, which makes me think it's not her. Perhaps it is a combination of captured logs?

From You_knew:

James J: You knew that. You knew. Maybe not in so many words, but you knew. Didn't you? I should've said. It's on me. My unit. I should've controlled the situation.
Jan: I'm sorry.
James J: You're 17. For god's sake it's not your job.

This makes me think that maybe Jan ISN'T a Spartan herself (despite her abilities), but we do know that James is in the military. Maybe Jan, knowing she's super-skilled and/or super-fit, was trying to help James out. He's clear: it's not her responsibility. This seems to me to indicate there is more likely to be a familial link than a purely military one.

True but that implies theres a further presence that is monitoring everything totally unrelated to the AIs. Thats a whole lot of complication there =/

But the clips only start after the power outage that caused genie to restart and the blackout to come on which could very well be when melissa crashed and started to reorganise herself by recording all info she could
