Hey guys, having been a keen follower of this site several years ago? Anybody remember the really lame ARG with lots of typo's including the word borked? Last time I was around here.

May be obvious but I can confirm Playtolose is correct, it is simply todays date. The source for each symbol is the hexidecimal reference for the number

Code:
src="./akingdavidcipher/00C.GIF" />
<img width="50" height="50" src="./akingdavidcipher/005.GIF">
<img width="50" height="50" src="./akingdavidcipher/7D9.GIF">

00C = 12
005 = 5
7D9 = 2005

todays date, UK format.

Dunno if that was blindingly obvious or not, i'm new again, treat me kindly! hehe Smile

Yes, but what I'm wondering is what's the purpose in encoding today's date? There has to be something more, but I can't find anything. Either that, or it's just a precursor for more codes/puzzles in the future.

In this case "HERE" = http://www.davidaking.org/Ciphers.htm
I suppose the obvious connection here doesn't need mentioning.

So when the countdown reaches 0:0:0:0 we should have 23-5-2009 which will lead to this image (./akingdavidcipher/017.GIF)

Not really helpful Dunno

which Sparky? There are tons! Smile Has he confirmed your request? can he type as well as send off packages?

Sparky McNachman. And nope, no add yet.

Perhaps he's just a lonely were-poodle who mutates at each full moon and, rather than a taste for human flesh, develops a desperate longing for social interaction? Or, considering he's starting as a poodle, a lonely were-HUMAN... Smile

As mentioned earlier, though, the countdown points closest to the next "New" Moon, not a Full Moon. I'm not hip with werewolf mythos.... so is there a connection with werewolves and New Moons?

Or is there any other significance with the date? I haven't been able to find any connections.

After PostLarval posted about facebook, I looked up some of Sparky's friends and found that one of them is an author. I'm going to spoiler what I found, just in case it's connected, but this could be way off base.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Steven Swiniarski is a sci-fi/fantasy writer who uses a couple of pseudonyms, one of which is S. A. Swann. S. A. Swann has a new book out called .Wolfbreed.

Known as wolfbreed, the lupine creatures are able to cloak themselves in human form.

That would debunk XNBomb's "lack of opposable thumbs" theory. Wink

Wasn't a serious suggestion, but now that I think of it, the last full moon was May 8th... 'round about the time those packages would have been sent.

And support my 'were-human' theory Wink

The book of which has a site http://wolfbreednovels.com/ that is on the exact same server as ruawerewolf and deals with a monk finding werewolfs to start the story. We have Monk ciphers, this arg is very much for that book.

Yes, but instead of a longing for social interaction... maybe he longs for more "green hermetically sealed dog chew toys". Very Happy

Do you suppose the first batch of unsealed treats were eaten by drug sniffing dogs at the post office?

....the thought makes me laugh.
