Has anymore progress been made on the two-page cryptogram? I've checked the Bradical Blog and the last anyone posted about it is April 23. He says it's been solved, but not on the blog. I just picked up the magazine a couple days ago, so I'm way behind on it. I've seen that some of the words are in the Star Trek article, and the guy who solved it says that's the right track. But I can't find any more recent news on it at all.

ok so I know i'm a little behind, but I'm just now making my way through all the hidden puzzles in the latest issue of Wired... I've read through this thread, but I'm wondering if there's any other places you guys know about that has more hints etc... I've found 9 of the first fifteen hidden code words, and am a little stumped right now... anyone?
thanks!

I'd intended to start documenting the puzzles on a wiki page here
http://various.wikibruce.com/Wired0509
but got so distracted with other busyness...

I haven't quite solvd this yet BUT:

Most (?) of the solutions are single words, right?,
Well, if you read the "continued form page 508" Star Trek's Greatest Puzzle page:
"In a veritable OCEAN of blood..."
"...cause the theta bomb to MAGNETIZE..."
"A similar THEORETICAL approach..."
"Known as the TURBO Gambit..."
"As any TREKKIE knows..."
"Some HEARKENED back to the..."
That's all I want/am able to give away right know... don't wanna spoil it for others but I also wanna keep working on it!
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The slash marks at the bottom of page 42 spell Sarah, which is in the Star Trek article, "Sarah, never overestimate...."
On the same page as the Star Trek article, is an ad with a list of code devices, which are used in this issue. Which one uses the ASCII code?

the ASCII one is right in that ad... "use our Automatic Subscriber Courtesy Introductory Inclusion...." the acronym is ASCII... that should help you on that one.
the ones I'm currently stumped on, are ones I can't even locate:
- the transaddition/subtraction one
- the semaphore one
- the caesar shifting one
Also other things I'm stumped on...
- page2 of the lost-numbers section (the megalotto pages 104-105)
- what to do with "tvbrandshiftspaytwosteps"
- the weird numbers on the STATGEIST PI Chart on page 40 (numbers are 16, 27546.824125, and 0138704)
Also not sure what to do with the pages that the JJA logos appear on... here's the pages they appear on:
3, 6, 10, 14, 17, 34, 45, 46, 48, 55, 67, 79, 81, 82, 87, 93, 103, 108, 117, 123
So far I've solved 11 of the 15 hidden-word clues, and I guess I have a bit of an incling as to what to do with them once I've solved the rest...
a little push in the right direction would be really helpful!
thanks!

Another one that really intrigues me is in "Solve a Puzzle" on page 30. "Dvora K. Klaviatura, head of the Belarus Enigmatology Institute (www.typein.by.pyacbm.by)..." I tried typing in that phrase into the address bar, but of course, nothing happened. What the heck is this for?

i've solved that one... look at the person's name, and look at the ad in the back that has all the hints in it, listing all the types of puzzles... you'll see a similarity with one of them. figure out what that means, and you'll solve that puzzle.
wish someone would help me out too.

I found a Dvorak translator and got this:

Now what does that mean?

you're close... try going to and from Dvorak to Qwerty... you're on the right track.

Phew. Ok, I solved the main meta-puzzle in the Wired Magazine May issue, it was really fun!
As for those damn numbers on page 105 though... I don't think anyone has solved those yet.

Thanks, heathen. I got the Dvorak translation.
Congrats on solving the meta-puzzle!
I'm assuming that the 15(?) hidden puzzles are
all in that Star Trek article. Right?
Can you give the page numbers of all of those puzzles?
I only have 8 right now.

i actually solved the puzzle without actually solving all fifteen of the initial puzzles... i solved 13 of the 15.
why don't you PM me what you've got so far and I'll give you a hint or two... you don't want someone to just tell you the answers. that's no fun.

Hi guys! New here, this thread has helped me out a lot in diving into this issue. Thanks!
Anyway, I found the solution for:
tvbrandshiftspaytwosteps
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Take "PAY" and shift it two letters each: P becomes R, A becomes C and Y becomes A. RCA. It's ceasar shifting, and it's in the Star Trek article " Radio plays series put out by RCA Cassette Entertainment"

I even realized: this weird photo "Intermission. Emily Scream #1" by David Lynch on the page 111 of the issue could be part of his viral marketing campaign for his mysterius album Dark Night of the Soul
